Bigger Isn't Always Better.

Sugar Bumps has so many great qualities in a rabbit style vibrator. It’s silicone, powerful, has two motors, and is waterproof. However, its HUGE size, texture and LOUD noise were the deal breaker for me. I had fun with it, but it is too big for continual use. I want a toy that’s easy for me to play with. Unfortunately, Sugar Bumps took way too much effort. I advise you to purchase Sugar Bumps only if you like bigger vibrators and lots of texture. This vibrator is for advanced users only!

Use

I have always had my eyes on Sugar Bumps by NMC Ltd. I love rabbit style vibrators. I wanted to try a textured clitoral attachment instead of rabbit ears. I was a little hesitant about Sugar Bumps because of its bigger size. But, I decided to try it since it was on such a good sale.

The first thing I noticed is how HUGE Sugar Bumps is! I knew this before I bought it, but in person it’s really intimidating. I was a little scared to insert it, but I was determined to try it!

I would definitely caution you before you think of buying this toy. It is BIG! If you are someone who loves bigger toys then you’ll love this! However, if you like smaller vibrators, I wouldn’t take a chance on this one. For that reason, I recommend Sugar Bumps for advanced users only! If you like rabbit style vibrators, lots of size and texture then try out Sugar Bumps. Unfortunately, she left me feeling a little too uncomfortable for continual use.

Material / Texture

One of the things that excited me most about Sugar Bumps was that she is made out of silicone. Most rabbit style vibrators are made out of jelly. Jelly toys have a terrible smell and are unsafe to use without a condom. I love how safe silicone is and how it feels. Silicone is hypoallergenic and non-porous. It has a safety rating of 10 on Eden’s Safety scale (the highest!).

I didn’t notice any notable smell when I opened Sugar Bumps for the first time. The silicone is very smooth with almost a rubber like feel to it. The shaft isn’t very flexible, but the clitoral attachment is. This is a great feature because you can decide how much texture you want to apply to your clit. Here is a demonstration.

There is a seam on the shaft, but it was not noticeable to me. There was no drag to the toy. Sugar Bumps can attract some hair, but it is not as bad as other silicone toys I own. The shaft is smooth, but the clitoral attachment has many little nubs on it. They are a little too pointy for me. I found it to be too much texture for my clitoris, but if you like texture this may work well for you.

    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

The first thing you notice about Sugar Bumps is how huge the shaft is. It’s definitely the biggest toy I own and I have quite a few! I took a picture of some of my other toys to demonstrate its size. To the left is my Waterproof jack rabbit, then Sugar Bumps, then Fun Factory’s G4 Tiger. It is noticeably bigger than the rest of the toys.

The one main thing I wish I could change about Sugar Bumps is its size. If the shaft were smaller more people would be comfortable using it. Sugar Bumps is 10” in length and has an insertable length of 5 ½”. It has a circumference of 5 ¾” and a diameter of 1 ¾”. It weighs in at 1 pound, so it is a little heavy on the hand during use.

The design of Sugar Bumps is like most rabbit style vibrators. There’s the shaft, a clitoral attachment, and the buttons on the bottom handle. The shaft itself is smooth but does have a wavy look. The clitoral attachment has little nubs for texture and is fairly flexible. There’s only one color to choose from but I love the purple shade.

Sugar Bumps is definitely more suited for advanced users because of its bigger size. It can be a little harder to hide, but I just store mine in my toy box. I wouldn’t travel with it because it’s so big. I’d choose a smaller clitoral vibrator.

Functions / Performance / Controls

One great thing about Sugar Bumps is that there are two separate motors in the toy. One motor is located at the top of the shaft and the other motor is located in the clitoral arm. There are two buttons operating each motor. This makes it really easy to use. I really love the buttons! They are very easy to press. The bottom handle twists open to hold 4 AAA batteries. The batteries do last a long time. I put fresh ones in and they lasted a few hours at the highest setting.

The buttons are located on the handle. You have four main buttons. The top two turn on either the shaft’s vibrations or the clitoral arm’s vibrations. The buttons on the bottom operate the speed and patterns. The controls are nice because you can operate either motor both at once, or separately however you wish. Sugar Bumps is really powerful. It is one of the most powerful vibes I own. I really loved this feature because I need lots of power to get off. Even if I apply pressure to the clitoral attachment, it hardly diminishes the power.

Sugar Bumps does have lots of variety in vibration. The clitoral attachment has ten total settings: three plain vibration settings (low, medium and high) and seven pulsation patterns. There are lots to choose from! The shaft only has three steady vibrations from low, medium to high. The control pad even lights up during use. If you’re on the low setting it glows green. If you’re in the middle, it is yellow. If you’re at the highest speed, it glows red.

The first thing you notice when you turn on this vibrator is how LOUD it is. Seriously, I live in an apartment by myself and I’m hesitant to use it! I might be paranoid, but I really think my neighbors could hear it through the walls at the loudest setting. If you need a quiet toy, Sugar Bumps is not for you! It is probably the loudest toy I own and the first I’m timid to use. I would give it a bee of 5. It sounds like a jackhammer! The clitoral attachment is much louder than the shaft.

Sugar Bumps is definitely waterproof. It does a good job of keeping out water in the shower and tub. When I used this toy in the tub, I even submerged it in at least a foot of water. Now, I don’t recommend doing this, but I wanted to see how it would react. No water leaked into the compartment. Since my initial use with it, I have used it in the shower and bath. I did this partly to help muffle the noise. However, because it is so BIG it’s hard to use when not lying down. For this reason, I’d only suggest using Sugar Bumps when you are lying down on a bed. I tried standing up, but I ended up having to lie back down in the tub to insert it.

    • Lots of variety in function

Care and Maintenance

Sugar Bumps is fairly easy to clean since it’s waterproof. I wash mine with warm water and soap. Even though silicone is sterilizable, don’t boil this toy as it can ruin the motor. If you prefer, you can wash silicone in a 10% bleach solution.

Sugar Bumps can be a little harder to clean because of the nubs on the clitoral attachment. It’s not too difficult, I just had to scrub at it a little more. Make sure not to use silicone lubricant on this toy as it could ruin it. I stick to a water based lubricant. I definitely recommend using a lubricant with this toy to make it easier to insert.

Packaging

Sugar Bumps was put in a simple plastic see through package. It’s definitely not discreet. However, there aren’t any naked women on the front of the package. There’s a little open window where they put a little sample of the silicone. This is probably meant for store display but I found it pretty cool.

The back of the package lists all the vibrating functions and how to install the batteries. Inside there is also a little informative brochure. There is certainly enough information in the package to operate Sugar Bumps. Plus, it’s recyclable!

Personal comments

I’m really torn on Sugar Bumps. On the one hand, I really grew to like it and the power was amazing. However, the shaft is just too big and cumbersome for me to use on a regular basis. If this were smaller, I’d be much happier with it. Although the texture is different, it can tend to irritate my vagina. I loved the power, but I prefer a softer touch in rabbit ears than pointy bumps. Therefore, even though I had some great orgasms, I wouldn’t recommend Sugar Bumps. It’s too big, and has way too much texture for my taste. Plus, it’s way too loud!

Overall, I rated Sugar Bumps three stars out of five. Although the texture and size may be overwhelming for me, some people may really love it. I would have rated it lower if it weren’t silicone and powerful.

Experience

Since Sugar Bumps is so big, it’s a really good idea to warm yourself up first before insertion. I wanted myself nice and wet before I inserted Sugar Bumps so it would be less painful. I put some water based lubricant on the shaft and the clitoral attachment and went to town. I first gently rubbed myself with the shaft to get myself wet enough to insert the toy. It still, of course was really big but I got it in! I admit I was a little proud of myself!

My first time with Sugar Bumps, I was really disappointed. It was a huge letdown for me. The texture left me really irritated. I really wanted to give up on it. However, I decided to give it a few more tries and I did find that I liked it. Lots of power for me is a big plus. I definitely had many orgasms with Sugar Bumps. However, I still don’t like the texture. The huge size makes it really hard to use on a regular basis. I have to warm myself up, and even then inserting is a chore. Insertion can still sometimes be painful and uncomfortable. I don’t want to have to feel like I have to work for orgasms. I want them easy and effortless, not complicated. I’m going to say goodbye to Sugar Bumps and stick to smaller vibrators.
Follow-up commentary
I love that this is silicone and powerful. However, I hate the nubs on the clitoral attachment. Plus, the shaft is super huge and a challenge to insert! I only recommend it to you if you love texture and size. I haven't used it since I wrote the review.
