Black Bunny

This toy has some areas that could be improved upon, but who cares?! It's silicone, it's rechargeable, and it's a simple, regular rabbit! I've got to say, for me, it's pretty hard to pay attention to the negatives here!

Use

Rabbits are great for solo or couples play. It is intended to provide internal stimulation and clitoral stimulation simultaneously. Some people use rabbits for anal play, I never have, but I guess you could insert the shaft if you wanted, since the clitoral arm would act as a sort of base. This is waterproof, so you can use it pretty much anywhere. Though, given the noise level, if you share a room, it would definitely be heard by roommates, so it may not be best for campus living. I would not consider the size of this to be travel friendly.

Material / Texture

This is made of 100% silicone, which is one of the things that really made me want it. Totally safe, non-porous, and easy to clean. It won't absorb anything, and it's the safest material you could use, and easiest to sterilize. But, because this is silicone, you cannot use silicone lube with it! Waterbased lube should be used only, and since this has some drag to it, you would probably find it useful to have some waterbased lube on hand.

The material has no odor, and it is pretty much smooth all over. There are no raised-up textures on this toy. There are the lines that are indented, not raised up, but I will get into those more in a bit. The silicone itself is sticky, in that it picks up lint, but all silicone does. Because of that you'll want to keep it stored away, safe from getting dusty. This is a more velvely-feeling silicone than some (Tantus comes to mind). Still, give the little bit of drag that it has, lube is nice to have around for this toy.

This silicone is not super firm, but it's not floppy at all. It's squeezable silicone, that has some give to it when you grab it.

Design / Shape / Size

The size of this makes it a bit large for travel. It is not discreet, very obviously a rabbit. The design of the shaft is realistic, in that there is a defined head. There are no veins or anything like that, but there is some "artistic" line details on the shaft.

This toy does have a seam that runs down the middle of pretty much the entire toy, over all silicone parts. It is very faint, though raised up, and it was not felt during use at all. I did not find it to be bothersome, and it did not get in the way of cleaning at all.

This is available in a battery-operated version, and this rechargeable version. I can't really understand why anyone would bother with getting something that takes batteries that you would have to keep buying, when you could get this. There is about a $40 price difference between this rabbit and it's battery-operated counterpart. Oh, and another great thing about this that really appeals to me, this can be plugged into the wall to charge, OR you can charge it via USB! The bit that plugs into the rabbit is basically the same as a headphone jack. I do hope that the little piece that covers the charging port doesn't come off, since that keeps it waterproof. If water got in that port, it would likely damage the toy. I have other rechargeable toys, but this port cover seems especially small.

I could say that this would be nice for beginners, since it would be a easy to use, easy to clean, quality material, dependable rabbit (see exactly why in my "Personal Comments" section). However, given the size, some who are new to penetration might find this a bit big at first. The diameter is 1 3/4", with a rather girthy 5 1/4" circumference. I think that that thickness could be a little intimidating to those those are new to penetration, since it's a little bit thicker than a lot of rabbits and insertable toys. This toy has a full length of about 10", about as long as my forearm. Though, only about 5 1/2" of that total length are the shaft, so only that much of it can be inserted. The ears of the rabbit are about an inch long. It's not very heavy; it feels a little weighty just picking it up, but it's less than 1 lb. If you have wrist or joint issues, this shouldn't be too troublesome, and you can always just grind on it and use it hands-free.

The rabbit ears are able to flick and/or cradle the clitoris, which is an all-around nice experience. The bump where the motor in the shaft is located could provide with some added internal/g-spot stimulation, as could the rotations, and vibrating head. All of this is pretty nicely designed for vaginal use. I think the classic rabbit shape is classic for a reason: it's satisfaction guaranteed design!

Functions / Performance / Controls

This has some pretty decent settings. The shaft itself has 3 settings, that make the head and shaft vibrate. One motor is located in the middle of the shaft, and there is another in the head. The arrow buttons control these . There is a low, medium, and high (or fast) setting. This also makes the head rotate. There is no way to turn off the rotations, or have the head or shaft work independently from each other. The arrow buttons control all of that, and it all works together all at once.

The button above the power button, with the squiggly line on it, controls the clitoral stimulation, or the part that looks like a bunny. This has 7 settings:
1. Low, steady vibration
2. Medium, steady vibration
3. Strongest (or fast), steady vibration
4. Pulsing
5. This one reminds me of a sprinkler. It's sort of an escalating pulse.
6. Stronger, longer pulses.
7. Variation between short and long pulsing.

You can turn on just the shaft vibrations and rotations, or just the clitoral stimulator is you want. You don't have to have both on at the same time, but you can do that too.

Also, just pressing the power button doesn't just make the toy start going. If you press any of the control buttons to make it vibrate without pressing power first, it does nothing. In a way, that is an almost locking mechanism, which I like. I don't think this toy has an actual locking mechanism though, like with some toys how if you hold power for a few second, you have to hold it again to get the toy to go? Well, when you press power, you then are able to press the respective buttons to make the to work as you want. As I said, the squiggly button controls the bunny ears, the arrows control the rotations/shaft/head. If you hit the power button while it is on, the toy turns off and everything stops. The vibrations are easily felt and pretty powerful, though this toy is not exactly silent at all. The bunny ears on the absolute lowest setting could maybe only be vaguely heard under covers on their own. Any other setting is loud enough to be heard easily through covers, and once the shaft is turned on that is the loudest part. If it's in you, it might dull the noise a bit, but it's still loud enough that you might want some music on or some sort of background noise to drown it out, especially if your door is closed and others live with you. It's not the loudest toy I've had, but given all the pros of this, the noise isn't a big issue. Sure, it would be nice if it were quieter, but it's a powerful toy! Worth it.

It says that this takes up to 8 hours to be fully charged, but I know that mine was charged in less time. I hadn't even had it plugged in for an hour, and I was able to use it for a few minutes. When it is charging, there is a blue LED light that blinks, where the button controls are. When it is fully charged, the light just glows blue and stops blinking (which happened for me in less than 8 hours). I can't say just yet if it discharges while sitting around, since I haven't had it long enough, though that is a concern I have with rechargeable toys; I hope to cover that in my follow-up. As I said, it can be charged via USB, or by plugging the USB cord into the wall charger, you can charge it electrically. When it is fully charged, the box says you can get 1.5 hours of use out of the highest settings, and 3 from using it on the lowest. Not bad!

Care and Maintenance

Since this is a vibe, even though it is silicone, it can't be boiled, that would damage the toy. Putting it in the dishwasher could be damaging as well, so don't do that. It is easy to clean, you have a lot of options with this. 10% bleach solution works, or soap and water, or toy cleaner/wipes. The options for cleaning are pretty much up to your personal preferences with this. Easy to sterilize, but if you are sharing it you will want to use condoms just for safety's sake. Storage might be a bit more difficult, since it's a big 10 inch toy. If you have a place where you keep your toys, you should be fine. This fits into the Devine Playchest easily. I would not bother keeping the box or clamshell packaging for storage.
    • Easy to clean

Packaging

The packaging was not at all discreet. It comes in a box that shows images of the rabbit on it, and has text all over it telling you what it is and what it does. Inside of the box, the rabbit, USB charging cord, and wall charger come in a plastic clamshell.

This does not come with any instructions, all the info you get is on the outside of the box.

Personal comments

When my partner asked to check this out, he hadn't seen it yet and only knew that a rabbit was one of the things I had gotten with my most recent order. When I took it out he said, "Whoooaaa!" I wasn't sure if that was in regard to the size, or shape, or what, I had no idea. I asked him why that was the response, and he told me that he wasn't expecting it to be black, he was expecting pink, or purple, or something like that. I totally understood. Black can seem like a bit of an....intimidating color, especially when it comes to toys. Don't get me wrong, I love black, and it's a color I generally get just about everything in! However, I will admit I probably would have loved a cute purple sparkly rabbit (and I'll get to why I choose this rabbit more in a bit.) Still, black is cool. It seems pretty sleek and badass. My partner played with the controls and checked it out, then brandished it at me exclaiming, "I feel like a ninja!" So, he got a kick out of the black bunny. He also told me that he really liked the linework on it, and thought the pattern on the shaft is cool, and said, "I would probably get something like that tattooed somewhere on my body." Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of that aspect of this, I tend to like smooth, textureless toys. The lines in question are sort of indented into the silicone. Although, they don't really seem to get in the way of cleaning, and can't really be felt when in use either. If you like textured toys, this may not be for you.

So, why I choose to go with this particular rabbit: Yes, it is only available in black, though that isn't really a big issue for me. If it can give me what I want from it, and what I want from a rabbit, then I really couldn't care what color it is. Black isn't a bad or gross-looking color, and I own so much black stuff anyways, so it's really not a big deal. This was silicone, which is all I will get for toys, because of how safe it is and it helps me avoid infections and issues that I am prone to. There are very few rechargeable silicone rabbits on the market, that are shaped like typical, regular rabbits. I'll be honest, I'm not a big fan of Cal Exotics, I've had bad experiences with toys of theirs in the past, so I was a bit hesitant about this at first because of that. However, I really missed having a nice, regular rabbit. I've had others in the past, but due to the TPE, TPR, and jelly materials, I cannot use them. All of those have given me problems in the past, and I had to throw them away, even though I spent so much money on them! And, yes, I HAVE tried "luxury" silicone rabbits that are on the market. I've tried Jopen. Honestly, it was a huge, pricey, disappointment, and was an annoying experience for me. The way the toy was built was a problem, and it kept tearing and breaking, and having to be sent back. After that whole debacle, I don't care to bother with those sorts of "rabbits" again (at least I learned a lesson from it)! I figured, that even though this was Cal Exotics, it is silicone, and it's built like a standard rabbit, nothing fancy or different about the shape - which I love. I like that I know that the standard rabbit shape has worked for me in the past, and that the Jopen vibe that I had was different and didn't work as well with my anatomy, and ended up tearing and breaking every time it got replaced. I knew that given the shape, it shouldn't be a problem. Plus, it's rechargeable, so that eliminates the need (and cost) of batteries, which is a big plus for me. I only get silicone toys, so I try to get rechargeable silicone whenever possible. In the end, I took a leap on this, since the pros seemed to outweigh the cons, and this seemed like a chance to finally have a normal rabbit again - without the risk of breaking, or infection! I have to say, that is something I am very happy about, and I'm really hoping this toy doesn't give me any trouble.
Follow-up commentary
This is one of my favorite toys. It's a basic, regular rabbit, great settings, and it's rechargeable! And it's silicone! What's not to love?

It charges just fine from the USB cord when connected to my computer. Whether charged from the wall port or USB, it charges faster than some of my other rechargeable toys.

I'm glad I got this when I did, and that I got it on sale! Definitely a worthwhile investment for me. Probably the best rabbit I've owned, overall.
