Astrovibes Leo - traditional vibrator discontinued by Fun Factory - review by Annemarie

The Leo is a traditional vibrator that has a vaguely lion-inspired design on the tip. It's meant to go in the vagina, but can stimulate the clitoris, as well as the anus (but not in the butt, please!). It has a few bumps that could possibly stimulate the g-spot (it stimulates mine), but as it's virtually straight, don't count on it.

This cannot be recommended for absolute beginners, but if you have any experience at all with penetration, the Leo would work. This would also work well in a couples situation, as it doesn't require any special care (i.e. not thrusting as hard) on either person's part.

This toy is made of buttery soft, smooth, matte Fun Factory silicone. This makes it tasteless, odorless, nonporous, hypoallergenic, and all the other glorious things that silicone is. This variety of Fun Factory silicone has a bit of give/squish (except where the batteries and motor are encased in the bottom half of the toy), and is flexible in the top half. It is superb silicone.

The Leo has a bit of texture, but it isn't overwhelming. On the top inch and a half of the toy, there is a lion-inspired design, with groves and ridges. They aren't felt much in use, except when initially penetrated. It makes a glorious taper, though, and great for pinpoint stimulation. After the first inch and a half, a few ridges and bulges make their way down the toy, disappearing about two inches away from the base.

The Astrovibes: Leo is a grand total of 7 inches long, with nearly all of that being insertable, at 6.25 inches. At its widest point (the bottom half), it is 1.5 inches in diameter, though it feels larger than it is because of the firmness. This is a decent size which will please most.

The lion-like design is imaginative and unique; there will never be another toy similar to this. It's sort of geometric and minimalist: there are no details (like eyes, mouth, etc), but you just know it's a lion. Even though, it is rather blatant and not discreet.

This toy is operated completely by its dial base (the red part of the base), giving it infinite, steady speeds. Vibrations are generally located in the middle of the toy, but because the Leo is silicone, the rumbly vibrations travel throughout very well, even in the tip. The dial base is easy to turn, and may surprise you with a vibration change if your hands are particularly lube-y.

The vibrations in the Leo are fantastic. They aren't at all buzzy or surface vibrations, but closer to a deep and rumbly kind. The vibrations feel even rumblier when they're inside.

As for noise, you can't hear it through a closed door, or through a wall, but you will hear it through a blanket and if you're in the same room. Of course, it quiets a bit when you insert it, but otherwise, it's a little loud.

The Leo takes two AA batteries that can be inserted in the bottom of the screw cap in any way, as long as one positive side is up, and the other is down.

The Leo, being silicone, is easy to care for. Soap and water or a commercial toy cleaner work great for day-to-day cleaning. You can rub this down with a 10% bleach solution or alcohol for a deeper clean. However, as this toy is not waterproof, avoid getting water in or near the battery compartment during cleaning and do not submerge it.

Storage is fairly easy as well. Keep Leo away from lesser materials, and away from dust, hair, and other linty things as it does attract lint and dust somewhat. Do not use silicone lubes with this toy, or with any other silicone toy unless you do a test spot.

The toy came in standard Fun Factory flair. The outer box was heavy cardstock with a zodiac theme, with an inside view of the Leo, which was in a plastic clamshell-type casing. Two magnetically closed flaps included information on the toy in 4 languages. Leo also came with a sample of ToyFluid, Fun Factory's water-based lube, and a brochure on other Fun Factory toys. All in all, a nice presentation, but not the most discreet or storage-friendly.

It may not sound super exciting on paper, but wow, this thing is my new favorite insertable toy. Leo just rubs my insides the right way, touching my A-spot, my G-spot, and my cervix, without any pain. It's filling, without stretching, with bumps and ridges in the right places, and great, generally throbby vibrations. I went in to playing with this toy with a sort of "meh, it's just a traditional vibrator..." but I'm completely in love with my Leo(nardo).

Subjectively, this is a 4 star toy. I wish it were waterproof, and it would be great if it were just a tad quieter.

Objectively, though, this is a total 5 stars. I can get over the loudness and the fact that it is not waterproof, for G-spot, A-spot, and X-spot stimulation in one neat package.
