Water-proof egg - egg discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by Noira Celestia

When I purchased Doc Johnson’s water-proof egg about a year and half ago I really wasn’t expecting a whole lot for the price. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this vibrator really accomplishes for me what it is meant to and much more. I have had achieved some incredible back to back orgasms using this egg. It has four levels of vibration and I really enjoy taking advantage of all of them. There is no dial so the increase in vibration isn’t subtle, which may be a con for some people but I enjoy it. I like to start at the lowest level and take my time with my first orgasm and then just as it’s ending I turn it up to the next level for another orgasm. The sudden change in intensity at the end makes the orgasm more intense for me. I usually don’t stop using this until I’ve achieved an orgasm at each level. I love it.

Because of its egg shape, I have found that small variations in how it is held can change the sensation considerably. If I angle it just right between my labia with the pointed end on my clitoris I can stimulate both my clit and labia at the same time; I love the teasing feeling it gives me in my vagina when I hold it this way. The egg is two inches in length and just over an inch in diameter, tapering to an egg like point. The toy is not ugly but not really aesthetically exciting. It is reflective silver plastic with a smooth non-porous texture and a seam that can be seen but not easily be felt. The remote comes in red and blue. Mine is red and feels almost velvety soft to the touch. There is a wire that is also red and runs from the control to the egg, is about three times the length of my forearm, and reinforced at both ends.

Since I prefer to masturbate in the shower the fact that this is water proof really seals the deal for me on this egg. When I purchased it a year and half ago it was my first vibrator and despite a lot of use I haven't had had to replace the batteries yet. It takes two AA batteries and when you do need to change them just twist off the bottom of the control and be sure to twist it back on tightly. The lower levels of this egg are quite quiet, but as you get up to the higher levels it gets louder and I’ve found that how hard you are pressing it against you also affects the sound level as well. It’s not loud enough to hear through a closed door. Though I imagine some people may be able to make it work for them, I found it a bit too large to use during sex comfortably and efficiently.

The buttons are pretty easy to use. There is an up and a down button to change the vibration level and next to them are lights numbered 1-4 signifying the level of vibration you are at. It is possible to hit the buttons accidentally so if you’re traveling with it it’s probably best to take the batteries out. I had an incident where in the middle of an orgasm the control was in my hand and I grasped it so hard I accidentally turned it up to the highest level. On the plus side the unexpected change in vibration intensity made for a totally amazing and memorable orgasm.

Cleaning the egg is really simple particularly if you’re using it in the shower already. Use some hot water and a tad of soap and rinse, or simply use a toy wipe. The wire hasn’t bothered me or got in the way during use, I only find it annoying when storing it because sometimes it gets tangled. In addition to bringing me to marvelous orgasms it also works nicely to massage the rest of my body as well. My partner has put it on his tummy when he had a tummy ache and found the vibrations relaxing. I store it in a cloth bag in my desk drawer.

This egg really is the perfect shape for me, and I find myself always going back to it. Due to misuse on my part the wire is starting to short out occasionally, I'm still using it and if it stops working all together I will definitely buy another one. I got a lot of awesome use out of this toy and still wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
