Results from the largest nationally representative survey on sex since 1992 have been published, and within its pages are some interesting revelations.
The survey was conduced by Indiana University’s Center for Sexual Health Promotion and printed in 130 pages of The Journal of Sexual Medicine. Researchers quizzed nearly 6,000 people between the ages of 14 and 94 to get the extensive data, and the data shows that an orgasm gender gap exists, condom use is highest among young people, and men give oral sex about as much as they receive it.
The researchers said they were struck by the variety of ways in which the subjects engaged in sex. The study also explored male and female orgasms and pain during sex. Read the full report here.
Debby Herbenick, co-author and associate director of the Center for Sexual Health Promotion, said of the survey, “Our primary goal was to capture contemporary sexual behavior. One of the frustrating things in sexual research up to this point is that the best data is from the early 1990s, and a lot has obviously changed since then.”

The UK’s House of Commons has gone kinky, as Romford MP Andrew Rosindell hosted a party at the parliament’s member’s only dining rooms—and distinguished guests traded their formal wear for fetish wear.
The Erotica 2010 event was a non-profit-making dinner cost about $140 and was followed by an off-site party—on a boat, apparently—where everyone in attendance enhanced their fancy gowns for latex outfits and other erotic adornments.
The shindig was thrown by Savas Christodoulou, owner of Erotica, Ltd. and former accountant to the band Pink Floyd, and MP Rosindell said that he sponsored the event because “would have done the same for any local business, charity or organization.”
“I have never been to an Erotica event, I am not interested in that kind of thing. I am not endorsing anything. I was simply asked to sponsor a dinner. I’m not even sure I will go.” But Andrew, think of the door prizes!

The Federal Trade Commission has recently “spanked” new age juice company POM Wonderful for making deceptive health claims in its ads, so the pomegranate brand has switched gears—now it’s an aphrodisiac.
New TV spots for the brand are narrated by Malcolm McDowell of Caligula fame, and depict Aphrodite and Eve tossing around the red seedy fruit as a sexy tempter.
But it’s not just changing the subject after the FTC cracked down on their backless health claims. POM Wonderful co owner Lynda Resnick says that she “certainly believes” pomegranate juice improves one’s sex life. She also says the sexier spots are in response to Coke and Pepsi ghost-dosing us small amounts of pomegranate juice into their beverages to snag market shares. And we were wondering why we were so horny after that last Dr. Pepper …
