Penis Pump--a simple looking device used for various purposes. Whether you use this for medical, masturbation, erectile dysfunction or for "growth," you will need to know the basics of using a pump. Misuse, either intentionally or through lack of knowledge, can damage your penis either temporarily or permanently. Before you put your penis on the line, read this article-learn how to use your pump properly-find out what it will and will not do--and have fun with the recreational section!!

Medical Uses For The Penis Pump.

Erectile Dysfunction-
Pumps have been around for many years and started as a tool for treating erectile dysfunction. The pressure caused by the vacuum elongates and enlarges the penis, causing it to become erect for a certain period of time. As a safe alternative to medications and having fewer side effects, this is a preferred method of treatment by physicians and can be covered by medicaid or health insurance. This method of use may require using a cock ring at the base to prolong the erection after the pump is discarded.

Prostate Cancer/Penile Rehabilitation-
Penile tissue can atrophy if there are no erections within a specific time period after surgery. The pump exercises the tissue maintaining its elasticity and ability to enlarge when engorged with blood, further prolonging the ability for natural erections after healing has occurred. This is very common following rebuilds after damage or prostate removal.

Peyronie's Disease-
Men with severe to mild curvatures of the penis, called Peyronie's Disease, can use the pump to alleviate the mild pain and to slightly straighten the curvature in the penis. This has helped to straighten the curve by about 1/2" and the alleviation of the pain involved with the curvature was significant. This has been studied numerous times and in one study, it helped 29 of 31 men in the clinical trial. They used the pump twice per day for 10 minutes per session.

Pump Safety Factors-
Non-invasive. Unlike surgery, pumps are external items used for stimulation. Surgery can damage nerves, soft tissue and can create scarring.

Side Effects. Medications can cause unpleasant to dangerous side effects, some being painful erections, severe headaches, shortness of breath, prolonged erections and death, in rare cases. A pump, when used properly, has few side effects and is a safer alternative.

Effective treatment. Using a pump can allow for an erection that remains long enough for intercourse, exercises the penile tissue to prevent atrophy, can correct minor issues and is also cost effective and easy to obtain.

Recommendations-How to use the new pump.

You may have noticed the sleeve at the base of your pump. This is needed to cushion the base of the penis and to provide a tight seal to prevent air leaks during the pumping. There should also be a thick, Vaseline type lube included with your pump. Colt's Stallion Pumper's Lube is a good one to try if none was included. The thick lube goes around the base and just inside the sleeve to help seal the sleeve against your skin and to make the glide in more comfortable on the penis skin. A thinner lube will get sucked up inside and you will lose the seal. This causes some rather unpleasant sounds and lack of vacuum.

Place the stretchy cock ring over the base of the pump, this is for after the erection has been obtained. Place the head of the penis inside the sleeve and start pumping. Keep your pressure low, definitely under the 10 mark on the gauge!! I recommend pumping until you feel a slight pull, resting and if needed add one pump until the erection is in full glory. Again, keep an eye on the gauge. You do NOT want to over-pressurize the cylinder.

Over pumping may damage the tissue and nerves at the base of the penis, can pull the testicles into the cylinder and can damage the soft tissues of the penis resulting in a severe curvature and permanent nerve damage. Please use common sense while pressurizing the canister. Stop if pain is felt, bruising is occurring, severe discoloration of the shaft appears or other non-ordinary effects happen.

Hold the vacuum for only 10-15 minutes per session. Take a minimum break between pumping of 30-45 minutes. Repeat if necessary only three times and use the cock ring for erection longevity--but only keep it on a maximum of 30 minutes. You may do this up to three times per day. If the shaft is becoming numb, stop for the night. Let the area return to its normal state and continue after 24 hours.

Warnings-Do NOT try with your pump!!

To prevent permanent or long term damage to your penis and surrounding areas, please do NOT perform any of the following warnings!

Do NOT-
*Over-pressurize the cylinder.
*Leave pump on longer than 15 minutes per session.
*Pump testicles or anus.
*Use vaginally or clitorally.
*Move pump in jarring or abrupt movements while pressurized.
*Pull pump off without releasing the vacuum.
*Use if pain, bruising or discoloration is present.
*Use if you have a blood disease like anemia, clotting or other like disease.
*Use for medical purposes without asking your physician.

  Will It Make Me Bigger?

There are a few myths associated with the penis pump. Some of these are blatantly untrue and others---are relative to the pumper's opinion. The biggest question/myth related to the pump is penis size. Can a penis pump help you "grow?" I will explain what is known as factual and let you make up your mind...

A Penis Pump Will Make Me Bigger.
-This is the most debated issue regarding the pump. For every test performed, every person it worked/did not work for and the numerous websites out there claiming to help penis growth, there are also opposite studies, opinions and experiences. How to separate fact from fiction? I will leave that one up to you.

There have been numerous medical studies on penis growth due to penis pumps. These studies have not produced any evidence to support the growth of the penis. However, there is a slight straightening of the curvature of the penis caused by Peyronie's Disease, which can legitimately be called a growth.

There is also a larger diameter and slightly larger length when the penis has been pumped up inside the cylinder. This does go away upon relaxing of the vacuum and about 15 minutes. But...there was a growth that was involuntary, for a temporary time period.

Most erections from a pump are larger in diameter and length due to the stretching of the soft tissues and the amount of trapped blood causing the engorgement. The hardness of the erection is spongier and not as rigid as a natural erection due to the small corpuscles not being as compacted as normal but more elongated due to the pressure. There may also be a puffy ring around the base of the head from the vacuum suction pulling it through the tip of the sleeve. This is normal and will go away within 15-20 minutes.

The larger diameter and length last only as long as 15-20 minutes after removing the pump, but many men claim that with extended use over a period of time this enlargement also happens during basic erections. This has not been proven scientifically, but again, is relative to the pumper.

There are many sites that are dedicated to penis enlargement using pumps. Many of these sites have a regimen using vitamins, pumping, stretching and "exercises" that supposedly work. Common sense will tell you that if you try these, you are putting your sexual member into a bit of permanent danger. Extreme caution is advised!!

  Masturbation and Fun-Lets go recreational!!

Using the pump for masturbation and couple fun is relatively new and is still an untried area of fun for the pump. As long as you keep the above usage cautions and use common sense, you can also enjoy the pump recreationally and have a lot of fun experimenting.

My husband and I like to try new ideas for sleeves. My jaw gets sore during oral and I am also not always present or in the mood when he feels like "blowing off steam." There are many masturbation sleeves on the market, but we have found some of them that have the thinner bases and diameters of material to be the most pleasurable.

Place the masturbator sleeve inside the pump, leaving about an inch hanging out. Roll the end over the outside of the pump base to create a cushion and insert the penis. Pump until a light suction is achieved, let the air out and repeat until...well, you will know when to stop. A bit of very light up and down motion, being careful not to pull or tug overly hard, will create a unique blow job feeling. This takes a bit of practice to get the pump and vacuum release timing correct, but is well worth the time! This works great for couples: one pumps and the other releases.

A vibrating cock ring at the base of the penis while lightly pumping can be an amazing addition to the pleasure. My husband really enjoys the different sensations involved when we add a ring to the mix.

Alternate the pump with a hand job or blow job. This gets many sensations going and when the time is right for an explosion, well, my husband says it is out of this world! Also try the vibrating cock ring about one inch below the head for a variation. This gets that soft but highly sensitive area that can trigger an immediate orgasm after the head has been pumped up.

All of these are accredited and reputable sites. There is simply too much information and opinions to include everything about the pumps in this article, but the basics are covered and you now have your own starting point for researching out more information on pumping, safety and usage of the penis pumps.

First and foremost, use common sense!! Secondly, do not over-pressurize the cylinder. And third, have fun--experiment a little and enjoy the unique sucking sensations you will get with your new pump!!
