Hey everybody, and welcome to our ninthReviewers Spotlight featuring Vaccinium and Red Vinyl Kitty!!!

Red Vinyl Kitty has been with us for about a year and a half now. Since joining us she's become an extremely active reviewer (including a bunch of awesome video reviews and a wonderful mentor.
"My name is redvinylkitty, and I've been writing sex toy reviews of all kinds for almost two years now. I have been on Eden for about a year and a half. I first found Eden by accident. I've been really active on Twitter for a long while now, and I just happened to notice someone retweeting something EdenFantasys had tweeted about needing more sex toy reviewers. At first I was completely overwhelmed, but I joined the mentor program and I really enjoyed working with Sir. His reviews were inspirational to me (as they are to many people) and he really helped me to be a much better reviewer.
I remember in the beginning the most difficult reviews for me to write was for lingerie. My first ever push assignment was for a piece of lingerie that didn't fit. I was bummed, but somehow had to write a review on it anyway. Thank goodness for Sir. I think it took us two or three weeks of back and fourth editing before I got it!
My biggest piece of advice for anyone new to reviewing on Eden would be to use the extended template. I think it is a wonderful tool just to have more space, but also because it gives you prompts which makes it difficult to leave out the most important info. I love Eden, and I hope to be here for a long time!"

Vaccinium is a man you all know and love if not for his witty humor (have you seen his erotica or well, any of his reviews?) but then definitely for his love of photography and hosting our awesome photography club.
"When I first came to EdenFantasys back in January, I started out writing reviews on products my wife and I already owned. Although they were decent in terms of grammar and coverage of important points, they were dry and boring. Suffice it to say, those words really don't describe me very well. As such, I decided I needed a mentor to guide me through how to be my goofy self with my reviews. For me, that was easily the best thing about the mentorship program. My mentor (Darling Jen), gave me the support I needed to find myself, and the rest is history. Being yourself in these reviews leads to better reviews because you aren't trying to shove a square block in a round hole.
The main challenge for me as a reviewer is to come up with a theme for any of my reviews. Once I have one I like, I'll literally spend weeks or months getting my thoughts together before actually writing the review. I wouldn't recommend this for everyone, but if I can't put out a well crafted, witty, and funny review, I'd rather not do it at all. Those reviews I have to write before I am ready aren't very fun for me, and are absolutely a challenge.
I found EdenFantasys like many people did. I googled "Adult toys" and EdenFantasys was one of the first that popped up. I checked out several of the sites that Google listed, and was easily most impressed with EdenFantasys. I actually found Eden over a year before I actually started posting in the forum and writing the reviews, At that point, the forum wasn't quite as diverse and community-oriented as it is now, and I can't say I had much interest in being a part of the then-fledgling community. When I returned again this past January, I found a completely different Eden, and one which was somewhere I felt immediately comfortable and where I could be myself. I've not been around as much as I'd like to over the past few months because of fixing our house, being out of town a lot for work, and family obligations, but that in no way diminishes how much I enjoy being here, interacting with everyone, and talking about everything related to a sex positive community.
My advice to those just starting out reviewing is two-fold. First, look through the lists of available mentors and contact the one that best suits you. The mentorship program is wonderful - even for those who are already skilled writers. Second, let that mentor help you learn how to write an informative review and to help you be yourself in your writing. If you aren't being yourself, it simply isn't as much fun, and writing reviews will begin to feel like a chore rather than the fun it really can be."

Sorry I won't be able to make it. I don't have the computer after 4:00pm CST during the week and hardly ever on weekends, but I loved reading what was already posted.

CONGRATS!
I loved Vaccinum's advice on being yourself. That was just awesome!
I get confused about the time when I'm home (I'm in Central Standard Time) and now I am really confused. We flew to Israel, arrived on Sunday and I just barely recovered from jet lag today. So, it is now 5:25PM in Jerusalem and I just checked and found it to be 11:25AM on the east coast!!! So, all I have to do is be awake at 2:00 AM and I can see what is discussed tonight--or I can read it tomorrow and update myself!!

this should be fun. i LOVE kitties. and sheeps too.
I wanted to ask Kitty, as I do a lot of Service for my partner as well; Kitty, Do you sometimes find getting time to do reviews and attend meetings on Eden (meetings are mostly in the evenings when our men are home) difficult with or interrupts your Service?
Vac, what do you find is the best way to incorporate humor into your reviews, without getting off the point too much. I always write too much and then have to delete anything extra to make it fit, even with the extended template. So most of my funny stuff ends up on the cutting room floor, so to speak. (Maybe this is just a Gift and isn't something you can share, but can you try?)
Sorry I will not be able to make it. I have some questions though.

I came to Eden for the same reason most people did: in search of adult toys. What made me stick around and review was the community. I like to say that I never knew I was looking for the Eden community until I found it.
I'm a pretty simple man, and frankly have very few toys. As such, I'd have to vote for my original fleshlight. I know, it isn't all that interesting, but of the few things I have, that is definitely my favorite (for obvious reasons).
I takes me forever to write a review. Once I get an idea, I'll toss it around in my head for a few weeks, then spend several hours writing it to get it just right. After that, I let it sit for a day or two to make sure that I didn't forget anything, then send it in. It's not efficient by any stretch, but I want to put my best foot forward with each review.

I came to Eden because I saw a tweet from someone on the EdenFantasys account saying they were looking for reviewers! It was really that simple, and here I am.
My favorite item is pretty difficult. There are so many toys that I love and use again and again. I think my absolute favorite right now would be the Master Suspension Cuffs. I am lucky enough to be able to enjoy them, when I know many people don't have the kind of set up that I have in their homes.
It takes me a long time to write a review. The shortest time is usually two hours, and that doesn't count if I take pictures or do a video review. I usually put the review down and come back to it the next day to be sure I didn't miss anything.
Sorry you can't make it! I hope your son's birthday party is a blast!

Ha! What makes you think I don't do it the exact way you do?
My reviews always need cutting down to get them under the required length. I've had plenty of jokes that get cut (including a good Silence of the Lambs" joke in my Luvin' Lamb" review). I suppose the best advice I can give is that if you are going to go through all the effort of setting up a joke, try to set up two. No joke works without the appropriate set-up, and if you can get two or more jokes out of the same set-up, all the better. I also found with the Luvin' Lamb review that a photo can work just as well - if not better- than a joke.....and it doesn't take up anywhere near the amount of words.

Hi P'Gell!
I honestly find that being on the computer at all interrupts my service to Master. (It's a major time suck for me). I don't get online once he's home unless it's really late, and we're relaxing in front of the TV, or unless he tells me I can. Usually, I just use my iTouch and tweet, but outside of Twitter - I don't do anything online. However, you don't get to be a spotlighted reviewer every day, so Master let me go online for this.
