Advice on Enemas?

Contributor: mistressg mistressg
I have never in my life had an enema, and I am totally new to anal play. However, I am seeing a lot of talk of "cleaning out" and anal douching. I am wondering, what difference does an enema make, if any, to anal play? What are the pros and cons? And what would be the best way to go about an enema? I wouldn't even know where to get one, or what to do, or when to do it, or where to begin!

Forum highlights on Anal douche:

Douche
How well do douches work? I was just wondering because I may need this in the future. And are douches only for cleansing or can they give you sexual..

Enemas: Are They Necessary?
Some people view enemas as a necessary precursor to anal play. Others believe that butt stuff is never perfectly clean, so why bother? Photo Credit

enema?
Is it worth having an enema before anal play

If you use an enema bag with a nozzle, do you just use store bought or special nozzels for anal play?
Apparently there are a bunch of historic and antique nozzles for anal enema play, besides the cheap plastic black nozzle that comes with a drug store.

DO YOU USE ENEMAS before serious anal play? If so, what formula do you use?
Alright, this issue keeps coming up here at EF. We are of the mind (and know medically) that the anus and rectum are pretty clear if you don't need to

Yikes. Honestly, I would say it depends on the person since so many people here seem to be able to take a lot of butt stuff like enemas and sex anally without issue, but personally, I have the worry of all the damage it causes. My main concern about enemas or douching is that it disrupts the flora in the colon (just like vagina's and how ridding too much of the good bacteria will result in serious issues like overgrowth of the bad bacteria -- candidiasis).

My advice is: if you suffer from *any* digestive upsets or disorders such as IBS (that's me, which is why I know how these things can be nightmarish) then douching there will be a mistake. However, if you do have these issues, but are set on puttng things up your rear, I recommend getting some aloe vera (yes, straight from the plant or pill form) in your system for a good few days before doing it. Aloe will protect your insides and works as an antibiotic, can clear candidiasis, IBS, etc. In other words -- it will absolutely help any colon/digestive issues.

I haven't ever put anything in my rear due to not being interested and the dangers, not even enemas. If I were you, I'd really try going about "flushign out" the natural way. Have you ever done anal play before, or is this a first?

I'd do some reading up on your back end and how to go about this as safely as possible before diving in. I know I sound paranoid, and probably it's just me and the issues I've dealt with, but just to be safe I thought I'd put it out there. Most people on here talk highly of anal douching and anal sex, so I suppose I'm just far more sensitive there than most. I doubt I could handle anal douching period for two reasons: 1. IBS would probably go mad and come back with vegance, it's happened just by going on a round of antibiotics for Pete's sake! And 2. I am so freakish about anything up the butt. It gives me an awful feeling just thinking of it.

You can buy the enemas here on EF. Search Colt Douche. I think that one is the most popular here, but I don't know for sure if it's the best since I've never even used one.

Like I said, your best way to "clean" is staying on a healthy diet and consuming aloe vera for it's thousands of benefits for "cleaning out" and protecting your entire digestive system. Taking it internally (preparing it is easy) will definitely start the "cleaning out" process, but continue taking it several days. Leave out the alloin (also known as latex, it's the neon yellow bitter stuff) unless you're don't have IBS or other digestive sensitivities. Then you can take a tiny bit of the alloin to make you go to the bathroom. You'll eventually be "cleaned out" (depending on how much cleaning is needed of course) and regular all the time.

Hope that's helpful at least. Like I said, I basically only know the bad parts about anal stuff, but I do know that using natural things like aloe is much safer and healthier than any enema (even water.)

You'll probably do better to wait and get good, informational advice from someone here who actually does do anal and has used enemas or douching. That would give you the answers as far as how to do it, what to expect. I've read about how they do it, but since I've not done it myself, can't really give advice.

Best of luck!

Pretty much this.

You might consider more of a lower "mini" anal douching. You can get one of those squeeze bottles people use to clean out a baby's airway. You can fill that with water and do a mini, lower end anal douching. This has a much lower impact on your body and won't mess with your gut flora.

In general: frequent anal enemas are not good for GI health.

This is what I do occasionally. Just the small bulb of water like 2x to rinse myself. But I don't like to do it too often because I dont want to mess with my body's natural balance of things, plus I dont like how it makes me feel.

You just want to buy something like this.

You fill it up with lukewarm water, squirt the water inside you, hold it there for a few seconds, then expel the water into the toilet. Do this a couple of times and it should flush you out nicely.

The advantage of having a proper douche like that is that you can only fill it so full, so there's no risk of putting too much water inside you. You only really want to clear out the rectum, not fill your whole colon with water.

The benefit of cleaning out is you never need to worry of accidentally evacuating. However the post people made about the process is indeed important there is a large amount of important organisms in your backside that are really important, however they grow back really, really fast. It's when you are ill that they don't, proper douching washes out no more than pooping. IF your not using chemicals that is, so just warm water works fine. Those websites two grand posted are well worth the visit.

There are two reasons to use enemas. The first is if you're not comfortable without having one - this can be either because of experience, or out of concern. If you're not comfortable it will not be as much fun.

The second is for more extreme play, because it can cause the large intestine to move stuff along in the middle of play.

My advice is to check things out. If you're worried, get a dildo and see if you're clean enough to be comfortable. Spend some time figuring out how your body works and when it works. If you need one go ahead and use one - a small water enema won't lead to problems. Do take it about an hour before play so extra water can be absorbed.
