Our friend swears she was a big time thumb sucker...did it in private even in college. She has replaced her need to suck by using her hubby instead. Neither of them seems to complain. Sounds horribly cliche, but they told us TOGETHER and I have no reason to doubt them!!!

I've read before that the urge to suck is a very primal one. I know that I have a huge oral fixation in general. I suck on pens, candy, whatever and have to have something touching my mouth pretty constantly. When I'm in the heat of the moment though? I never used a pacifier it was always my left thumb none of my other fingers "fit right" and felt weird. Even today I still suck my thumb when I go to sleep or I am extremely stressed. I don't do around others and its mainly in my room unless I am at home and its just me and my parents. I also sleep with my baby blanket I have had since I was 3. The habit hasn't been broken an since I have a tendency to clench my jaw and grind my teeth in my sleep its best my thumb separates my teeth so I can't.

For those who say they ended up with an impacted tooth or in braces because of thumb sucking that isn't a 100% truth thing. I had an impacted tooth mine was because my mouth is too small for all my teeth so they weren't coming out and coming down right. My mom asked several dentists and doctors if she needed to break me from the habit before I messed up my teeth?! Their answer was NO, her teeth are straight and perfect
