Lube issue wearing a plug at home and in public

Contributor: Bill220 Bill220
For the past few weeks I've been experimenting with extended plug wear around my house and have noticed that sometimes a considerable amount of lube will "leak" onto my underwear and sweatpants to the point where it's visible.

Am I using too much lube or the wrong kind? I'm currently using Astroglide liquid and JOH20 water based anal lube. I have some silicone lube on the way for use with my glass plug.

There's no way I would wear any of my plugs in public due to this issue.

So, how do you long term plug wearers deal with it or doesn't it happen to you?

If it matters, all of my plugs are of the large variety (I love size!).

A thicker lube might help. I use Maximus or Sliquid Sassy, and haven't had a problem. I'm not brave enough to leave the house though.

I like Maximus for longer term plug play, and I use it in public. It is a little less runny than other water-based lubes. My guess is that if you are playing with more sizable plugs then you have probably had to use lots of lube for comfort and safety. When I use large plugs or other large toys I opt for a lube that really stays where it is put. For that I use Original Boy Butter, which is strangely absent from EF. It is commonly available. They have many different versions, but the original is a hybrid of coconut oil and silicone (check compatibility with your toys first, I think it is good for most toys and I use it regularly on silicone toys). It has the consistency of room temperature butter, but it doesn't melt. Great for bigger toys. I haven't worn BB out in public because I usually only wear smaller toys in public.

Maximus and especially Boy Butter are less likely to soak through clothing. When I do wear a plug in public I will sometime feel that there is a little lube on my underwear but nothing that would go through jeans and show.

I hope that helps some.

The JOH20 is thick. Trouble is, once it warms up it thins out a lot.

Maybe the silicone lube I ordered will do better.

I don't think I am, either. God forbid I get in a car accident or something and have to go to the hospital.

I have been using good old regular Astro Glide and dont have a problem with it being runny, its thick and its not expensive and I can get it down the street at the corner drug store instead of having to order ot and wait for a delivery.

It depends on type of plug, type of lube, and amount of lube. I find a plug with a big base and lots of waterbased lube tends to leak more. As the plug base gets moved around and bumped the lube and mucus works its way past the plug and out.

If you use a smaller amount of silicone or oil based lube you'll probably have less lube coming out (but possibly still some mucus). The downside is that the lube is more likely to stain fabrics.

Perhaps using a "light-flow days" pad in your underwear could help?

Thank you, Scott.

The plug I'm using (Sasha Grey Signature Large) does have a rather large neck and base. I should have a bottle of silicone lube to try today. I work from home but do have to run out briefly for things on occasion and I'd rather leave the plug in rather take it out and re-insert it.

Two Grand - I've used Astroglide for years and like it a lot. It's cheap and readily available but for extended use it tends to either leak or disappear. I find that it works best for anal play since it's cheap and is very slick.

I am a big fan of the Pjur water based lubes since they're intended for longer term usage as well as its compatibility with silicone toys.

When I began wearing butt plugs regularly, I also had some anxiety about regarding this issue. Upon discussing the concern with my Mistress, She decided to have me use a maxi-pad with my underwear to help with any lube leakage and I've had very good success using this method.
