Wondering why so many toys pink

Why are so many toys pink?

Personally I don't like pink, and it has prevented me from getting a toy due to the color being so unappealing to me.

I think it's an 'ideal demographic' thing. Most women don't mind pink, it's a calming color, and it's 'natural' enough to feel a bit realistic, but isn't too 'realistic' for people who want an abstract toy. I'm not a huge pink fan, either, but I don't usually let it deter me from a nice toy I like.

I don't like pink either. The only reason I'll ever get a pink toy is if I really want the toy, and pink is the only color it comes in.

But so far that has only happened once, and the toy ended up not working for me anyway.

I don't find it realistic or calming It grates on me, like.. I don't have the words, but it agitates me. LOL

Ryuson has some good thoughts on it, and that could be it.

Personally, though, I want a line of toys that have strong, brite blues, greens, and yellows. Maybe that's why I like the line be Leaf so much.

Seems natural. You can't please everyone.

It's all about the demographics, I suppose. Personally I love bright pinks - hot pink, magenta, fuchsia - but I don't like the typical pale/pastel pink.

FYI, you can filter toys by color. For instance, here's the listing of all black vibrators: black vibrators

Use the "Refine By" menu located on the left side of category pages to refine by color or other filters (material, size, manufacturer, etc.).

"I think it's an 'ideal demographic' thing." This is exactly the reason. Manufacturers always try to do what they think is going to sell, and the safe proven colors def get used the most. I think the most used and neutral color is actually purple.

I think I remember a manufacturer telling us, in an interview or something, that pink and purple sell the most -- and so that's what they primarily use.

My thoughts exactly. I loathe the colour pink, and actually don't have a single pink toy in my collection right now.

I've disliked pink since my early teens--I think that was when I began to associate the color with the "helpless female" paradigm. There have been a couple of times when I've purchased something in pink, such as Raquel, because that was the only color available and the toy was very unique, but in general pink will keep me away, too. I'm so glad that new alarm clock vibe comes in a lavender color; it isn't my favorite either, but it's better than pink!

I'm just offended by the idea of 'Oh, let's give the women pink toys! Pink isn't scary! They'd be too frightened by *coloured* toys.'

Bitch, please. I love red and orange and yellow and green and blue and purple and silver and black and gold. Colours aren't inherently scary or intimidating in my world. Hell, my two favourite toys right now are orange! (Fun Factory's Big Boss and Vixen's Leoweenie)

Oh man...if they'd make the Leoweenie in VixSkin...

I'd love to see more color variety as well. I know it's hard for the manufacturers to take risks in that area, though, since a color that isn't popular will probably end up costing them money when they have to clearance it out. I was so pleased to learn that a couple of the VixSkin toys were being made in non-skintone colors that, even though I'm NOT a fan of fluorescents, I'm still interested in the Tie-Bright Mustang, just because it's something other than skintone or PINK!

Pink and purple sell the most, as others have stated. The toy makers wanna make money, clearly they are gonna make what sells

Here is my thing- There is a difference between skin and realistic colors, and bright hot pink fuschia whatever. I like skin colored toys, but those are usually cream, beige, caramel, or chocolate. Not neon blind me pink. I like purples and blues on norm, I'd love to see more. I've been looking into the green products, I don't mind that color. I just really despise pink, and some amazing looking toys only come in that color, which is horrible.

At least, if they know people like it, make different colors for that product!

I'm not much of a fan of pink toys either but I'm guessing that the thinking is that a pink toy is less intimidating somehow. It's good to good to see more companies coming out with different colors.

I don't hate pink, but I will choose any other color over it. Greens and blues are my favorite.

Not my favorite but color comes in after function.

I also hate pink lol I've always thought it was due to being what sells but I kinda find that weird considering if you ask someone their favorite color you hardly ever get the answer "pink", blue, black, purple, green is mostly what I hear if I ask someone their fav.

Also I see pastel pink as a little girls color and not something that screams, "put me inside you!!!" I don't really see why it's a main demographic for sex toys =/

Assumptions about what colors women like, also that all toys are being used BY women even though plenty can be used by people with any body.

Ryuson summed it up well.

If there are other options than pink and purple I will usually pick them. There needs to be more options for green, white, or orange!

Same thing for me really, when I got the Amethyst it was only available on sale in the pink color but I ended up not really liking it anyway. I'm still trying to get rid of the blasted thing lol.
