Should Routine Circumcision of Male Infants be Illegal?

I think the practice is barbaric. I once saw a cartoon where the parents are holding their newborn and staring at him lovingly. The word bubbles above their heads say "Look at him, he's so perfect" and "I agree, let's cut the tip of his penis off". How absurd does that sound? That's exactly how it sounds to me. My son was born perfect, he is who he is. I have no desire to remove something that isn't hurting him, and subject him to pain and torment unnecessarily. I realize it's a hot button issue, and I respect the rights of people to worship as they wish. I just wish they would leave it until the man was old enough to make his own decision, and not have a decision forced upon him at a few days old.
