I have roommates, so mine are in a shoebox under my computer desk. I know they're not going to go snooping through my things, but I prefer something discrete. They get the most use in front of the computer, making the nightstand not the best choice.

Well, I'm not sure you'd classify it as hiding, but my partner and I neatly pack our toys away in our toy bag. The toy bag lives at the back of the closet. It's less about privacy (though that does factor in, I wouldn't want to traumatize my pet sitter) and more about convenience.

I don't hide them.
I do keep them packed up in a variety of places, including my nightstand, my dresser, and a designated toy bag, but the reason for this is neatness, not hiding.

They're in a bin in the corner of my room. Anyone could really open it and look inside, but I'm not too worried about it. I need to organize it all though.
