Pure plug 2.0 - butt plug by Njoy - review by SexScienceAndFood

1.3 lbs of Anal Awesomeness!

If you are a beginner, this toy is not for you.
If you are looking for a plug that you can wear for hours and hours including sitting time, this may not be for you.

If you are looking for a unique and intense butt plug experience and you can handle a larger toy, you HAVE to try one! The weight and shape of this plug makes for some serious butt fun.
Very heavy!!!
Hands free prostate massage is possible
Super easy to clean
Handle is large, making extended use a little uncomfortable

The NJoy 2.0 XL is a beast of a butt plug by most people's standards and is for intermediate and advanced users only. While it isn't huge by shear size (I'll get into that later), its stainless steel composition puts it in a unique weight category and that is where this toy shines.

Holding 2.0 XL

At 1.3 pounds gravity will want to pull this out of you, and enables what I'll call "gravity play." If you relax your sphincter muscles, it'll slide out slowly stretching you with the relatively narrow tapered neck, then hit a hard stop as the bulb of the plug rests inside you. Unless you have extremely loose and stretched sphincters, there is no worry whatsoever about the plug coming out. Then, as you flex your muscles, you can pull it completely back in, hands free. For guys, the length of the plug can work out so that when you clench, you can, hands free, massage your prostate! This whole gravity play is, in my experience, very unique to this plug. I also have the NJoy Large and it cannot do this to the same capacity due to its lighter weight and shorter length.

There is a catch. This plug is big and long, and has a proportionally larger handle relative to the other NJoy Pure Plugs. At least for me, I find that while I can sit down with this plug, the handle is a tad big and causes some discomfort, unlike the Large (pictured together below), with which I can very comfortably sit while inserted. I sort of wish that this plug had a handle shape that was lower in profile and closer in shape to the Fun Factory Bootie.

It is worth pointing out that unlike most plugs where the base is simply a functional safety stop, the handle-base of the NJoy can be exploited. The handle is very easy to grip and turn a from a single person toy (solo or during sex), into a couples toy, where the other person can pull, thrust, and twist to their heart's content.

Material / Texture

Like all NJoys, the 2.0 XL is made of solid 316 Stainless steel. It is highly polished to a mirror shine. This means that it is perfectly smooth and is odorless. It takes on no odor the way silicone toys can. Also unlike many silicone toys, there is zero drag resistance when lube is used, and zero dimensional give. Being stainless steel, there are no compatibility issues with lubricant. I find this to be very important for extended anal plug usage where silicone lube solves friction and water-based lube re-application concerns.

Design / Shape / Size

The Njoy has bilateral symmetry rather than the more traditional radial symmetry. This allows the plug to be designed more in tune to the body shape. The plug head has an almost parabolic tapper expanding to 2" (see below). This means that you do not have a gradual taper for easy insertion. Warm up will be key for most users. The head also has four groves in it running from tip to tail. I'm not sure the function here other than maybe making it easier to insert (the circumference is effectively reduced for conforming tissue).
XL Front

Behind the head, is an abrupt change to a much thinner neck which gradually tapers down to the handle. There is a curvature to this taper which is great for conforming to the body. You'll want to insert with the curvature going in and forward, and not up. The handle is a flattened oval having a long dimension similar to the head width. This is for safety so that the plug doesn't get "sucked" inside of you. The open handle is convenient for getting a grip during removal. While everything is polished smooth, it is worth noting that the handle portion has relatively sharp edges. They are perfectly smooth to the touch, but you'll notice the edges potentially irritate your butt with extended wear. I find this more the case with the XL and not an issue with the smaller handled Large.

The NJoy is specified and measured to be 1.3 lbs (0.6 kg), with dimensions of 3.5 inches long from tip to end of neck (ie, the part that is inserted, handle not include), and a width of 2 inches. This is quite a substantial size increase from the Large (also pictured below).

XL vs Large

This plug is specified as 2 inches across, I but find that number a little deceiving. People may use this number to assume circumference and treat it the same as a 2 inch radially symmetric plug (most plugs are). If this were true, then a 2 inch plug would be 6.3 inch in circumference. However, NJoy 2.0 XL is asymmetric and actually measures to have a 5.75 in circumference which if a cylinder, would be the equivalent of a 1.83" diameter plug.

Being stainless steel, I can't think of a plug that can equal the size/weight performance of this plug. There are plenty of other plugs out there that are larger, but weight is such a special feature of this plug. You really have to experience it to know what I mean. The whole solo "gravity play" is simply amazing and unequaled in my experience. The length and taper are very convenient for guys since you can use your sphincter muscles to do hands free thrusting/prostate massaging. Unfortunately though, this plug is not the best for most people looking for extended wear. I consider my butt to be fairly average in size and I find the handle to get in the way a bit with sitting. The rest of the Pure line has a smaller handle and this isn't an issue for me. However, if I am looking for intense stimulation in situations where I am standing and/or walking, the XL is the king. For those who use plugs for additional stimulation for sex, the XL handle isn't an issue (except for sitting position).

Care and Maintenance

Like all steel toys, the 2.0 XL is very easy to clean and care for. Simple soap and water are all that is needed for cleaning. There are no sanitary concerns when cleaned, so this toy can be shared. Since it is made from 316 stainless steel, the added molybdenum makes it extra resistant to corrosion, so just wash and dry. All NJoys come with a box or case for storage. While they aren't terribly fancy, they are quite functional and should be used to store your Njoy plug if you have the space, otherwise use a soft cloth bag to prevent scratching.

As for lubes, use whatever you want. There are no compatibility issues. I use silicone lube exclusively with my XL because I don't like having to re-apply.
    • Easy to clean

The 2.0 XL plug comes in a nifty little storage box. I have mixed feelings on the box. On hand, it's a nice way to store and present your plugs. The boxes are simple and functional and the silky liner does protect the plug from scratches. On the other hand, the inside is kinda cheap. I actually had to re-tuck in the red fabric when I received it. If offered with a thick (for padding) and durable drawstring bag, I probably would have opted to use that and toss the box.

Personal comments

So far, I'm loving this plug for situational use. It will not replace the Njoy Large that I also have, because the XL isn't nearly as comfortable for extended wear. However, the XL does offer some seriously unique and amazing butt plug experiences that even the NJoy Large can't touch. If the handle was more comfortable with the XL, I'd probably rate this plug a 5/5.

I do think NJoy should list the circumference of this plug and not just the wide side dimension. While it is true that the XL is 2" wide in one dimension, it's narrower in the other, giving an effective circular diameter similar to a 1.8" traditional plug.

On a side note, I think the transition from the Large to the XL is too great. I wish there was something in between.

You did a fabulous job! Your description section was really top notch and I can't think of anyone who has ever done such a thorough, technical job of it, but then everything is excellent. I wish they'd let editors like charmedtomeetyou take on more students because if this isn't just a perfect example of the difference a mentor can make, I don't know what is! Clearly, you can write well anyway, but it's difficult to know what's expected and mentoring solves so many little issues that I kind of wish it was a requirement for new reviewers. I'd also like mentored reviews highlighted in some way so we know they are from a mentored student and we know to check them out! Anyway, I am so glad you were able to get this item and review it and I learned a lot by reading this review, so thank you!!

I own an Njoy Pure Plug 2.0 but is there an XL variation? I just checked the nJoy toys website and saw no reference to an "XL"...
