Butt plug discontinued

best of both worlds... mostly

Although the dipper offers some unique sensation (not quite like a butt plug, and not quite like anal beads) it falls short of being a perfect hybrid. It doesn't stay put as a plug and it doesn't provide enough sensation as anal beads. Instead, it falls somewhat strangely in between. It is, however, still fun... as a novelty. The dipper has a very pretty design, and its a good option for those bored with most anal toys. If you're looking for a staple butt toy, keep looking.

Use

This makes a great toy for intermediate anal players who are want to change up the sensation a little bit. The dipper rests somewhere between the sensation you can get from anal beads and from that of an ordinary butt plug... but its not the perfect hybrid. That being said, its easier to insert than dildo-shaped anal toys but a bit more difficult to take than beginner butt plugs like the classic making it an excellent choice for those wanting just a little bit of a challenge.

Since its silicone, the dipper makes an excellent choice for folks (like me) who share their toys. Since this is an unusual design, I recommend this toy more highly for those who might be able to pass it on to someone else if it doesn't work out.

Its also a somewhat unassuming shape. Less obvious than penis-shaped toys, and not as readily recognizable as anal beads. Its not incognito enough to count as discrete, but its discrete enough that I'm comfortable slipping it into my purse.

The fact that its not penis-shaped is also a boon to the cock-shy. I may not be cock-shy anymore, but I can remember when I was... and toys shaped like penises kind of terrified me. If you're unsure about anal sex, but you still want to increase the girth and length of the sensation this is an excellent choice.

Material / Texture

The dipper is made from fairly firm silicone, with only a tiny bit of give. Its completely tasteless and odorless and its very easy to clean.

The silicone also has a somewhat grabby texture, which means its best used with either a bit of water-based lube or (if you have the dipper well covered with a condom) silicone lube. Do be careful if you use silicone based lube, because it may react with the silicone of the toy.

Even though it takes a bit more effort to cover the dipper with a condom, I strongly prefer to use silicone lube with this toy. This toy is still a bit of a challenge for me, so I need/like the extra glide the silicone lube can give me.

Design / Shape / Size

The dipper falls somewhere in-between a butt plug and anal beads. The ripples can be felt when inserting and removing, but its nowhere as intense as the ripples in most anal beads. Its a subtle but pleasant sensation... but not phenomenal. The head has a very small amount of tapering, making it a challenge (at least for me) to insert. Much like the infinity plug by tantus it provides excellent sensation once its in, but is a bit of a trouble to insert and an even bigger trouble to keep comfortably in.

The stem (and I use the term loosely) is considerably wide compared to many of the valleys of the ripples. Its hard to for me to find a comfortably place to hold the toy, but it doesn't feel much better if I play with it like anal beads. There is also a very challenging spot on removal right by the first ripple or so. The taper only works in one direction, making it much harder to ease out smoothly. So, it fits somewhere awkwardly in-between both types of toys. Its not much good as anal beads, and its impractical as a stay-in plug.

Performance

I enjoy this toy, but it tends to fall to the bottom of my toy box. Most of the time, if I'm looking for an anal challenge I would rather get a larger butt plug or try to work in a penis-shaped toy. Both of these options are usually harder to use than the dipper, but the work is much more worth it.

For me, the odd quirks of this toy are occasionally fun but not spectacular. Sure, it feels good... but its not great. The problems I have with it could be easily fixed, and thats almost more frustrating for me than intentionally choosing a toy thats too big for me.

I'm still glad I got it, but I'm still searching for something better.

Care and Maintenance

This is a silicone toy, so cleaning is remarkably easy. Boil it for five to ten minutes to sterilize it (and I recommend doing this regularly, even if you're only using it on yourself). A quick wipe down with 10% bleach also works. I HIGHLY recommend drip-drying the dipper because the grabby texture makes it pick up lint from towels extraordinarily fast. Drip-drying takes longer, but its worth it. Again, be very careful if you use silicone lube. Cover it with a condom any time you think the dipper might touch silicone lube (even if its just on your hands). If you don't want to use a condom, stick with water based lube.
