Good vibrations, but frustrating to use

The 10-function Risque plug has a wide variety of fun, strong vibrations, but it's a challenge to use. There are definitely better plugs out there, but this one is not the worst.

Use

The 10-function risque plug is a wireless, vibrating anal plug, designed for personal use or use with a partner. It has a large, flared base, which makes it safe to use anally without the risk of getting stuck. It could probably be used vaginally or clitorally, as well, but I would not recommend doing so after using the plug anally unless you use a condom. This toy is good for beginners or moderate users, but it might be a bit small for those who are experienced with anal play.

Material / Texture

The plug is made of TPR plastic, which rates a 7 on Eden's material safety scale. It is smooth, soft, and slightly rubbery-feeling. The material has a bit of give to it, but the plug does not bend and is very firm. As with most anal toys, you need to use some lube when inserting this plug. Silicone and water-based lubricants are safe to use with this toy. The material has no noticeable odor.

Design / Shape / Size

The plug is a pretty average-sized; it's not too big, so it's small enough for beginners, but isn't too small, so it's satisfying for moderate users as well. It has a very sleek design, which makes it visually appealing and more like a high-priced toy than some other cheaper plugs. It has a tapered head, a short, thick neck, and a wide, curved base. The button to control the vibrations is in the center of the base. The base slides open to reveal the battery compartment. When the battery compartment is open, even just slightly, the toy won't vibrate. Unfortunately, this makes the toy a bit frustrating to use, as the battery compartment doesn't stay closed very well and frequently pops open, turning the toy off. Also, the neck being almost as thick as the head makes this toy hard to hold in, and it tends to pop out a lot, especially if you move while it's inserted. The toy is not discreet at all, and anyone who sees it would most likely recognize it as an anal plug.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The plug is powered by 2 AAA batteries and has 10 vibration options that are controlled by pressing the button on the base of the toy to cycle through the different patterns. To turn the toy off, hold down the button for a few seconds. The vibrations come in low, medium, and high, as well as several variations of pulsing patterns. In order to get to a setting you like, you have to cycle through all the options before it; there is no way to go back or set one vibration as the default when you turn it on. The toy is pretty strong but very quiet; it could not be heard from behind a closed door or perhaps from under some heavy blankets, but it could probably be heard by someone in the same room. The vibrations can be felt throughout the whole toy, from base to tip. The plug is waterproof, and though I personally have not used it underwater, it does seem to do a good job of keeping water out of it when I wash it.

As I mentioned earlier, the battery hatch has a habit of coming loose, thus turning off the toy. This can be extremely frustrating when trying to use the toy, as you have to keep removing the plug to snap the hatch back into place. It is very challenging trying to get the hatch back on while the plug is inserted. Once the battery hatch is closed, you then have to cycle through all the vibration patterns again to get back to the one you want.

Care and Maintenance

This toy cannot be boiled or sterilized, so use a condom if you plan on sharing this toy. It can be cleaned with soap and water or with toy cleaning wipes, and since it's meant to be used anally, it should definitely be cleaned after every use to avoid the spread of harmful bacteria. The toy is easy enough to store, thanks to its small size, and it is easy enough to hide in a drawer or purse.

Experience

At first, I really enjoyed this toy, but then I started noticing the problem with the battery hatch popping off all the time, which made me lose interest in using it. Because the neck is so thick and the base is so heavy, the plug does not stay in very well, and just shifting positions is enough to make it pop out. It has very nice vibrations and a wide variety of settings, so when I can get it to work, it's still very enjoyable. It is not my favorite toy, but it's not terrible either.
