Risque probe - vibrating anal plug by Cal Exotics - review by The Skaliwag

Nice, Strong Fun

Knowing what I know now, I probably wouldn't purchase this toy again. I think one could find another vibrating toy with a more ergonomic approach to the design. As a personal thing, this toy is also a tad too small and I'd get something with a bit more girth.
Many powerful functions, simple controls
Soft texture and completely odorless
Neck of toy is too short and base is too wide
Not totally safe material

The Risque is my first butt-plug and it is a nice part of my little collection. This plug offers a fairly full feeling, but doesn't seem to stimulate my prostate at all. Its vibrating function almost makes up for that fact, though. The vibrations are fairly strong and the different pulsing modes are incredibly stimulating. I've used this toy a few times on its own, both during masturbation and with my partner. In both cases it's added some fun stimulation for me. It also serves as a pretty good warm-up for bigger toys!

Material / Texture

The Risque is made of TPR and is soft and velvety to the touch. It doesn't have any odor or taste to it, which is an important thing to me. The bottom cover on it is hard plastic, but that is not a big deal nor is it noticeable.

The Risque is untextured, which makes it great for beginners. Personally, I like more texture though. Preference aside, the texture is good for just about anyone.

Design / Shape / Size

The design of this toy is where I have most of my issues. I have a fairly large backside and this toy doesn't like to cooperate for that reason. The base of this toy is pretty big and wide. The stem of the plug is also too wide, and that only exacerbates the problem. Upon using it the first couple of times I couldn't get it to stay in, and with a plug that's sort of the point. The combination of the stout, wide neck and the big base made it so that I couldn't really get it inserted deep enough to stay put.

I managed to get it in and into a comfortable place after a bit of trying different positions. It still wanted to pop out, though. These are things I'm keeping in mind the next time I buy a toy. This problem alone lost this toy major points for me. I feel as if someone with a smaller behind wouldn't have these problems though, so I can't speak for everybody.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The functions of this toy are the saving grace. They really are awesome, and they're really the reason why I picked this toy up in the first place. There are the basic vibrations and different levels, but there are a lot of more exciting ones too! Some of my favorites are a long continuous vibration and then a break with a bunch of fast, smaller vibrations. Another great one is a pattern of short vibrations and then longer ones and a continuous increase in length. It's really something you have to experience to understand.

The controls are simple. There is just one button. You press it to cycle between functions and hold it for a few seconds to shut it off.

This toy makes very little noise and is waterproof as described. I didn't actually immerse it in water, but it worked perfectly fine in the shower. There were no problems at all.

Care and Maintenance

Because of the material, you have to wash down this toy with soap and water after use. It's not a big hassle, but is something you have to consider. Unlike silicone toys, you can't sanitize it in boiling water and I don't believe that it is dishwasher safe. This toy could have very easily been made out of silicone, so it loses a few points in my book for that. Even though I don't plan on sharing this toy, it'd be nice to be able to fully sanitize it if I wanted to.

The packaging was nothing special, just a simple, clear box with the clamshell plastic around the toy. It's definitely not discreet and I wish they had included some sort of drawstring bag with it. It's not bad packaging, but not very good either.

Thanks for sharing - I agree, the neck does seem way too short on this one.
