Interesting base provides the possibility of

Overall this is a great beginners vibrating plug, but as a more experienced user, I wasn't wow-ed by it. It has a great safe base and nice insertable portion, but it has multiple flaws. This plug will work better for male users than females looking for a vibrating plug to wear during play/intercourse. I gave it 3 stars since it does the job, but not flawlessly in the least.

Use

This is a very simple, easy to use vibrating buttplug. Because of it's simplicity and size, the Tano makes a wonderful beginners toy for those who want to explore a bit of anal without getting stretched out or feeling over-stimulated! If you own any of the other Picobong series toys, you'll already know what to expect with the Tano, since the series is mostly the same toy in different shapes. The toy has a large super-safe base (I say super-safe because who in the HELL could possibly insert the base to lose it?) that is very comfortable, (mostly), is made from a safe and easy to clean material, and it comes in a very pretty box. This is the perfect gift for your friend who wants to give plugs a try!

Material / Texture

The insertable portion of the Picobong series toys are all made from a firm velvety silicone, with the base made from a hard shiny plastic. Though this toy claims to be pure silicone, I do have a slight bit of doubt in my mind due to the fact that it can retain light smells. Not nearly as intense as a jelly or other porous material, but still, if you are a smell sensitive person who can't stand their toys having anything other than a pristine clean smell, it might bother you. With 5 intense washings after my first anal use of the toy still leaving a light smell, I was a bit turned off. I left it in a storage drawer for a few weeks and came back to it, only to find that the smell had dissipated and the normal silicone smell had returned! I'm not sure what caused this, but I'm sure glad that the smell hadn't stuck around. My best guess is that the cracks in the toy (which I cleaned thoroughly) retained the smell particles, or the plastic base. If this sounds like it's going to be an issue with you, you can always slip a small toy cover or condom over it before use.

The toy as a whole is very firm, there's no give to the silicone or the plastic. There's a very slight texture on the silicone portion of the plug that reads "Picobong", and is also the control panel. Within 2 of the letters there's a + and - where you turn the toy on and off and control the strength of the vibrations. It can't be changed while the toy is inserted, which is a very strange and somewhat annoying design flaw! Who wants to get their hands all lube-covered just to turn the vibe up? The control panel/Picobong logo can't be felt during use, otherwise the toy is completely smooth. In other reviews I've seen people complain about the ridge that the battery compartment/base creates where it screws together, mine didn't have a sharp one and it hasn't caused me any issues. Just in case, I'd keep a nail file around to smooth it if you plan on ordering the toy.

Design / Shape / Size

The shape of the plug itself is nothing impressive, it's a very standard thin plug with a rounded flare. If you like small plugs, this could be really great. Personally I found it to be a bit smaller than I had anticipated, but it's a nice addition to solo play if you're not looking for girth. It isn't curved, so without some help from your hand, it's not going to be putting much pressure on your prostate/g-spot. It's small size will work great for beginners and people who prefer small anal toys, and it will fit easily in a travel bag.

My main complaint about the design of this is the small side of the base. If you're female, you won't be wearing this during vaginal sex unless you want to try positioning the base sideways (which may only work for some people in certain positions). One side of the base extends about 2in and has a hole in it, I'm assuming for easy removal? The other side is about half the length with a rounded tip that really gets in the way of vaginal penetration, unless you have an unusually long perineum. I'm pretty average and there's no way I could wear this during sex comfortably, my partner would get jabbed! As a vaginal toy, it will work great for those who like small vibrating toys for foreplay. The hole in the base sits perfectly over the clitoris (if you're similar to me anyways), leaving it open to stimulate. If I turn it around, it jabs my clit, so that's not recommended.

If you're male, the base will work much more in your favor! The base is shaped in a way that you could never lose the toy (unless you somehow unscrewed the silicone part inside of you) and it nicely cradles your perineum. You won't be getting very intense prostate stimulation out of the shape, but it'll sure make any sort of play a bit more fun. If you haven't tried anal play before but are interested, this is a really good start, the size won't hurt you and the shape is comfortable to wear.

While I wouldn't call this discreet for people who have seen any sort of sex toy before, but someone who is completely unaware of toys might not know what this is. It's an interesting shape that doesn't scream "dildo!" or "buttplug!" at first sight, but I still wouldn't leave it out for your family to see!

Performance

Personally, I enjoyed the shape (aside from the base problem) but the vibrations were a huge letdown. If you've handled any of the other Picobong toys before, you'll know what I mean! The vibrations are super weak and buzzy even at the highest settings. It's very quiet, if not silent while inserted, but you're not going to get a ton of stimulation from them. There's more than 2 functions (on and off), which is nice, but there's no patterns, just intensities. If you want a plug to just add a little fun to your play time that won't wake your roommates, this will definitely work, you just won't be getting a ton of stimulation from it. From my experience, it's no battery guzzler, and it only takes 1 AAA (which says a lot about the vibration power), you could easily wear it for hours without it dying.

Care and Maintenance

Because this toy is silicone (or at least claims to be), it can be easily cleaned with a toy cleaner, soap and water or a toy wipe. The base is plastic, which isn't fully sterilize-able, but it's still slick and easy to clean. With a toy cover or condom, it could be safely shared or be safe for both vaginal and anal use in the same session (with a change of condoms of course). I store it in a cardboard toy box, but you could safely store it anywhere, but make sure to use a toy bag if you're storing it near other toys. Because the vibrating portion of this toy is silicone, its not compatible with silicone base lubricants. Use water based lube when playing with the Tano, anything else could damage it. Overall this toy is very low maintenance and should last you years with proper care!

Packaging

The packaging was nicely designed, the Tano comes in a visually appealing recyclable paperboard black box with a window in the front showing the toy. It comes with instructions, the Tano and a Picobong dice (so if you collect them all, you can roll it as a game to see which you play with!). The AAA battery it requires isn't included, nor is a storage bag. The box could be used as storage, but honestly I tossed it and keep my Tano in a toy box/drawer. Since the Tano comes in a pretty box and the toy itself is quite sleek, I'd say it would make a great gift!

Thanks for the review! I'm disappointed to know that the vibrations are so weak. I am just curious if the vibrations are so weak, what really separates it from a normal butt plug. Ah well.
