Radiant gems anal tool - anal probe by Doc Johnson - review by gorgeous

It's really fun, and smells 'fun'-ny, too.

This anal probe can be very fun to play with. Its simple, takes no batteries, and has no confusing controls to deal with. The only real problem is the smell, and that is a problem that occurs before use! Without the strong odor and the lack of staying put, I would have given it 5 stars.
Varying sized nubs
No batteries required
Great for any gender!

The Radiant Gems anal tool is used for anal stimulation. This could be fun for males or females. It can be used during solo masturbation or during couples play. Use it along with another toy for double penetration; the base doesn't get in the way! You can also use it to warm up for anal sex. Since the base is flared out larger than the insertable portion, this is a very safe toy for anal use. It could be used for slow thrusting or movements, or it could also be used to leave in place during the remainder of your fun time. It can be used just about anywhere. Since it is a solid object with no buttons, it could even be used in the bathtub! Although I have not tried it, I think that this toy could be used with a harness since it does have the O-shaped bottom. It could not be used as a plug while out in public since it doesn't have a way to make it stay in.

I did also try this out vaginally just to see what it was like. Since it thin, it isn't the best for insertion. You can't really feel the difference in the bulbs until you get to the larger portion. Since it is also flexible, you can't really get this to hit the g-spot well.

Material / Texture

As for material, this is made from PVC. It is a very squishy and bendable material. It can be bent back into a circle to where the tip is touching the base. This flexibility can sometimes make the first nub insertion a little difficult if you are trying to insert it one handed. The tip is the most flexible by far since it is the most narrow part of the toy. This is latex free for people who may have allergies. It is also phthalates free, although Eden only gives PVC plastic a 2/10 on the safety scale since it cannot be sterilized and it is porous. I think that this material would be great for any user who would like to try it. I am a beginner and I enjoyed it, and I also think more experienced people would love it, too. There isn't really any texture other than the nubs changing sizes. It is smooth to the touch.

This toy does have a strong smell to it when you first open the package. It smells very much like new linoleum flooring. This odor wasn't so disturbing to me during use since I could not smell the odor after it was closer to the opposite end of my body, but if I could quote my boyfriend, he said "That toy smells terrible when trying to eat your pussy." It can be disturbing to your partner if they are inserting it into you or are close around it. I am hoping for this odor to go away after more use. I have used it 3 or 4 times and the smell is still there. When I opened the toy box that it was stored in, the smell came out of the box before I could take out any of my toys. I didn't try to see if this item had a taste since I do not plan on using it in that manner.

Since this does not make noise, take up a lot of space, or make a big mess, it is good for people who may have roommates. As long as you can keep yourself quiet, they will never know that you are having fun over on your side of the room.

Design / Shape / Size

As an anal beginner, I love the design and shape of this anal tool. It has five completely circular nubs. It starts out with a small nub and gradually increases in size until the fifth nub is reached. You can pick which size is right for you. You can feel a little pop when the nub size changes while inserting it, but I am not able to tell which exact nub it is currently on without feeling what isn't inserted. The nubs should not be too big for any beginners.

First nub ~0.5 inches in diameter
Second nub ~0.75 inches in diameter
Third nub ~0.9 inches in diameter
Fourth nub ~1.25 inches in diameter
Fifth nub ~1.5 inches in diameter

Between the last nub and the base there is a 1 inch area where the diameter drops down to right under 1 inch. This space is there so it will stay put when you let go, but I found that this space is too small and it doesn't make it stay in. I think if the space were larger it would work well.

The base is 2" in diameter, so it is a nice and comfortable size to hold on to when thrusting or holding it.

The length of this toy is 7" long, of which only 6" is able to be inserted. I believe this could be used for beginners as well as more advanced anal lovers because of the varying sizes of nubs. I love the way it looks like it is made of wood when in reality it is just colored gold. This makes it more unique in my opinion. This toy is definitely not discreet. There is no way to say this is not a sex toy. I would say that this would be travel friendly, as it is small and easy to store. People searching your bags will see it, but I'm sure they have seen worse things than your simple anal toy.

I love the performance of this toy. It works great and feels great. It only takes a small amount of lube to get this inserted easily. I normally rub a little on the first 3 nubs or so and it works fine for me. The bottom of the toy has a suction cup base on it already. Just push down in the middle of the toy and it will activate the suction. I haven't personally used this feature of the toy, so I'm not sure how strong the suction would be if using the toy anally, but I just tried to suction it to the wall and the glass of my fish tank (better than trying it on the window and my parents being outside). It did stick to both of these surfaces, but I could pull it off without much pressure at all. This may also be used with a harness. I do not own a harness to try this out, but I believe it would work great with one.

Care and Maintenance

This anal probe is very simple to care for, just use some soap and water or toy cleaner after each use. Be sure to get around each of the nubs on the toy. There are no small creases or holes, so it is just a simple, smooth toy to wipe off. This toy doesn't seem to collect lint. I have had it laying on my bed and on towels and it hasn't picked up many threads or dirt particles at all.

As for storage, I just keep it with all my other toys in a storage box. You can also store it in a plastic bag if you prefer your toys not to be touching each other. The size of this toy makes it easy to store. It should fit in whatever you use to store other toys in. I have found that it will fit in a sandwich bag well, it is just hard to get into the bag because of the plastic wanting to cling to it. I use this anal probe with a water based lubricant. Since it is safe for all material types, silicone based lubricant could also be used, if you are a fan.

I would not recommend sharing this between you and your partner unless you were making sure you used a toy cover or a condom with it every time.

This anal toy came in very simple packaging. It's just a piece of clear plastic that frames the toy itself. The package isn't much bigger than the toy. The package say "Illuminate your pleasure" on the top with the brand names on it. It also has 'Anal tool' and 'seven inch' written on the front of the package. The back has some details on the materials it is made with and who it was designed by. There are no obscene words or pictures on this package. There are no written instructions included, but is a self explanatory toy. There aren't any buttons, features, or batteries for them to instruct you about. If I was to be giving this to someone as a gift, I would put it into a different box to wrap up. The shape of the wrapped package like this would give away what was in it. This package could be used as a storage container if you like to keep all of your packages, but I just store it with all my other toys in a storage container.

Personal comments

Overall, I did like how flexible this toy was once it was finally in. It moves with my body, so it isn't poking or prodding anywhere I didn't enjoy it. I would recommend this toy to any beginner that needs a first toy or anyone who is wondering about anal sex, but afraid to ask their partner because they think it will hurt or that they won't like it. Test it out using this anal probe.

If my toy were to break, I would probably just say good bye to this toy and buy a different one. Although it does bring me enjoyment and pleasure, I would want to try something new, and maybe something that would stay in place a little better and that didn't have a strong odor.

I love the way this toy looks, feels, and performs. I love that I can use it by myself or have my boyfriend use it on me. My only complaint would be the smell, but I guess that comes with the territory of PVC plastic. I did have a problem with it staying in place. It isn't like a plug that will stay put during sex. I had it inserted to the last nub and I could feel it sliding out of my bottom. I think it would be better if there was some way to keep it inserted up to the base, so that way you wouldn't have to keep your hands down there for the sensation to occur. I did try sitting up with it in me, but this felt uncomfortable. It may just be because I am a beginner though, since the toy is not uncomfortable at all when I am lying down.
Follow-up commentary
I thought that the smell would eventually wear off, but I was wrong. It is overpowering and smells up the whole toy box to where my boyfriend wanted to move the box away from the bed. I'm going to end up replacing this with a toy made from a different material that doesn't smell like new linoleum flooring.
