Nice shape, Shoddy material

This is a decent toy. It's a good shape, especially for people newer to anal play, but it's made of a porous material, so it's not very sanitary. And it has a very, very strong smell that will not go away.

Use

This is an anal toy. It's good for either male or female users, but as the material's porous, it can't be sterilized and shared. Use a condom over it to prolong its life, or if you'd like to share it.

I wouldn't really recommend this toy for vaginal play. The taper is quite long, and the widest part isn't much wider than the handle part, so I didn't find it gave much g-spot stimulation.

Overall, it's a fairly decent beginner's toy, as long as you're patient and use a good lube. It's quite soft and flexible, and the taper is quite gradual, so I never felt the need to "warm up" to use this toy.

Material / Texture

It's made of jelly with Doc Johnson's Sil-A-Gel additive. It smells like all the other Sil-A-Gel toys I've encountered: a strong, fruity smell. It's not exactly unpleasant, and it didn't give me a headache, but the smell didn't wash away or fade over time. It struck me as weird that a butt toy would smell like some generic fruit.

It's rather squishy and flexible, but not so much so that it's difficult to insert. The rubber itself is smooth, but the taper is detailed with a slight swirling twist, and the lower neck/handle part is kind of rippled. The flared base makes it anal-safe, but I'm not sure how it would handle in a harness, as I don't have one. I'm sure a flexible rubber O-ring that's just the size of the handle part will work fine.

Design / Shape / Size

Overall, it's a fairly basic design for an anal toy. It's basically a butt plug with an extended, thickened neck. But the taper is nice and gradual, and with a little lube, the toy slipped right in. Depth was sometimes an issue for me, but I didn't play with this toy often. I never felt the toy was pokey or jabbing into me, which was nice. Even the toy has some texture, I never really felt it during use, so it's pretty subtle.

Performance

This was my first teal anal toy. I'd used other items before, toys shaped for vaginal use or improvised toys before, but I'd still consider myself a beginner in anal play at the time. This toy did the trick for me, but then I rarely used it on its own. I usually used it while using another toy vaginally.

Care and Maintenance

This is a porous toy, so there's no sterilizing it. Mild soap and hot water, toy cleaner, or toy wipes will clean it right up. Just be careful of the grooves to make sure everything's clean. If you want to extend the life of the toy, use condoms with it every time. And if you ever want to share it with someone else, make sure you use separate condoms for each partner.

Storing the toy is fairly simple. Keep it from touching other toys, in case the materials react and melt into each other. If Of space isn't an issue, you can keep it in its package.

Packaging

My toy came in a plastic clamshell with a paper label. The label's not exactly discreet (it says ANAL TOOL pretty clearly on it) but there are no naked or scantily-clad models on the package. The information on the label is pretty basic, detailing the features of the toy and whatnot.

When I bought my toy, the clamshell wasn't much bigger than the toy itself. Now Doc Johnson has changed the packaging, so the label is a lot bigger, and therefore so is the clamshell. It's not really a necessary change. I've compared the information on the two different sizes, as we sell this product at work. The larger label doesn't have any additional information, just bigger fonts. It seems really wasteful to me, especially these days when people are trying to be eco-conscious. It's also even worse for storage, since it will take up even more space. If I remember rightly, it's all recyclable.

Personal comments

I bought this toy before I learned about toy materials. The strong smell struck me as odd from the moment I opened the package, but it's not like I could have returned the toy. It did what I expected it to do. But when my ferret finally got her teeth into it back in May, I wasn't sad to put it in the trash.

Experience

I'm kind of ambivalent about this toy. It's the material that gets to me. I prefer the safety of silicone. But Doc Johnson sometimes uses the same molds for jelly and silicone toys. If they released a silicone version of this, I'd buy it. It's a good shape. Not too bulky, easy to insert. But I'd love it if I could boil it.
