This is a great toy for making that leap to larger toys. If you have been using a slim plug and feel like you can handle a bit more, this is a great way to stretch your limits. With the added perks of being made of high quality silicone, staying where you put it and being very pretty, the Joe Rock is a nice addition to your collection.
The Joe Rock is a butt plug, meant to be inserted and left in your butt. That is really the best use for this toy. It won't do much in terms of clitoral stimulation, as it is smooth and doesn't vibrate. If you use this vaginally, it isn't really large enough to fill you up or give you a feeling of stretching. If you enjoy a smaller vaginal toy, and know you enjoy this shape, it may work for you; I think the average user will find that this little guy is really only satisfying if used anally.
Best suited for intermediate anal players, or beginners ready to move on to something just a bit bigger, the Joe Rock is a lovely plug. The base if a bit large, but you know it's not going too far north. The neck is narrow enough to lock this plug in place, allowing you leave it in place during other sexual activities. The blunted tip is comfortable to insert, but doesn't poke you internally when you are in different positions.
Men and women alike will enjoy the Joe Rock. You could do some gently thrusting if you don't insert it to the neck, and then settle the plug in place once you're ready for other play. You could use this plug during solo play, to add another element to the fun. This plug also works well for couples play, as the silicone is more forgiving than a glass or metal plug, and won't cause discomfort if your partner has the angle just a little bit off.
The Joe Rock is made of 100% silicone, which rates a 10 out of 10 on the Eden Safety Scale. Silicone is non-porous, hypoallergenic, and latex and phthalates free. It is a great material for sex toys for a number of reasons. Because it is non-porous, it won't hold onto bacteria and it can be thoroughly cleaned. The Joe Rock can be shared with partners as long as it is cleaned between uses. Silicone will not hold on to odors, and can be boiled to sterilize it.
The silicone used for the Joe Rock is fairly firm with just a bit of squish to it. The surface is matte, and you get a slight bit of drag when you slide your finger over the toy. There is no texture, and the surface is smooth. The neck does have a far amount of flex to it, but the plug portion has much less flex. I notices no smell to the Joe Rock, even fresh out of the package.
My Joe Rock is silver, and the coloring is amazing. There are areas of lighter and darker silver swirling together, with a bit of glitter present throughout. It catches the light and sparkles and shines.
The Joe Rock is far from realistic, but I find it aesthetically pleasing. The shape is graceful and smart, with gentle curves. After a slightly tapered tip, the Joe Rock is a basic tube shape with an increasing diameter which drops off to a slender neck and a basic flared base.
The total length of the Joe Rock is 4"; from the tip to the neck measures 2 1/2". At its widest point, the diameter measures 1 3/16". The neck measures 3/4" in diameter. The base isn't the most ergonomic or comfortable, but I wouldn't call it uncomfortable either. It measures 2 3/8" by 1 1/4", and it ranges from 3/8" to 1/2" thick.
The size is the higher end of beginner or the low end of intermediate. Beginners looking to test out a toy that is a bit more filling, or intermediate users looking for a plug to use as a warm up will enjoy the Joe Rock.
I wouldn't say this is a great choice for a first plug, but if you already know you can handle this diameter it is a great choice for those who enjoy a feeling of fullness. Beginners may wish to find something a little more narrow, with a slimmer tapered tip.
The plug does have staying power, as that slender neck really locks it in. Moving positions and walking didn't dislodge the Joe Rock. The tip isn't pointed and doesn't poke me when I sit down with it in. That being said, this isn't the most comfortable plug for seated long term wear. If you are planning to put this plug in and recline you won't have an issue, but I wouldn't put it in and sit in a desk chair.
The base to the Joe Rock does not have a suction cup, so you cannot attach it to a hard surface and use this one hands free. You can use the Joe Rock in a harness, and it might be a good choice to bridge the gap from thrusting smaller plugs to pegging with a dildo, depending on your experience level.
Caring for silicone is very easy. The Joe Rock has no grooves or problem areas that make cleaning difficult. Soap and water can be used to wash it off before and after use. You can also use your favorite toy cleaner.
Should you wish to sterilize the Joe Rock, you have a few options. Placing it in boiling water for three minutes will do the trick; you may also place it in a safe spot on the top rack of the dishwasher and run it through a cycle. Either one will ensure that the Joe Rock is sterilized and ready for use.
As the Joe Rock is silicone, only water-based lubes should be used with it. It's important to avoid contact with silicone lubes, as silicone lubes may react with the toy and cause damage. It's also important to avoid storing silicone toys where they are touching each other, for the same reason.
The Joe Rock comes packaged like every Happy Valley toy I've purchased; in a simple plastic bag with a cardboard square stapled to the top bearing the Happy Valley logo. Once you remove the cardboard top, the bag isn't the best for storage. I suggest a toy storage bag or a plastic bag for storage.
I wouldn't say the package is elegant, but it isn't trashy either. It isn't suitable for gifting, but you could simply put it in a gift bag.

I wish there were more Happy Valley items for sale. The silicone is quality, but it's also pretty. No complaints and no concerns.
