A Lesson Learned (Maybe I'm not cut out for this.)

Okay, so I tried this out because I had a ball gag before (the Tantus Beginner Ball Gag), and it didn't quite work out. To put it bluntly, it was too small for my mouth and I didn't like not being able to breathe through it, especially when my nose was stuffed up. This gag fits my mouth well and is very sturdy, as well as easy to breathe through. However, I'm starting to think that maybe gags just aren't for me.

To anyone thinking of using a gag: ball gags pose a risk of asphyxiation to anyone wearing them beacuse they can choke on their spit/vomit if that happens, or they could just not be able to breathe if they have allergies or a cold. Also, being unable to talk seriously limits the ways they can communicate distress, so NEVER leave someone alone when they have a gag in their mouth. Always put safety first!

The design of this gag replaces the solid rubber/soft plastic/silicone ball with a plastic wiffle-style ball that has holes in it that allow the wearer to breathe. The ball is 2 inches in diameter, which is actually still kind of small for me, but my mouth is huge. Still, I've read that it's too big for some people, so it all depends on the person.

The strap that holds the gag in place is made of vinyl and works like a belt with a metal buckle and 11 holes. According to my tape measure, anyone whose head is between 15 and 23 inches around should be able to use this gag comfortably. Mine is about 20 inches around and it fits just fine. The package states that the metal hardware is nickel-free, which is a godsend if you're allergic to nickel like I am. I do wonder how well the vinyl strap would hold up under heavy use, though. If you're into seriously heavy play, I'd recommend a more sturdy material.

This gag held up really well. It stayed in place, let me breathe through it and didn't get uncomfortable. However, I somehow didn't account for how much sailva would be involved with a gag like this. In retrospect, it makes sense. Having your mouth open constantly, as well as open to the air, will inevitably result in quite a bit of drool. That just doesn't appeal to me, I guess it could be part of the whole BDSM idea, depending on your preferences, but I mostly just like ball gags because I like having something in my mouth. Lesson learned!

I rinse my ball gag out with soap and water. I wouldn't recommend using bleach, since you're going to put it in your mouth. I store it in a plastic bag so it doesn't pick up anything I wouldn't want in my mouth.
