Butterfly clamps by Spartacus - review by Kayla

I've honestly never used any nipples clamps beside the tweezer clamps before in my past. However, butterfly clamps seem to be a staple of any BDSM-ers toybox, so I wanted to get my hands on a pair and be able to try out exactly what makes them such an interesting and arousing purchase.

These nipple clamps are made by Spartacus and are made from metal. They are nineteen inches in total length when you consider the chain between the two clamps. The clamp itself actually has a nice, soft, rubber pad to make it grip onto the skin better than if it didn't have the rubber. It's actually pretty amusing because the rubber actually has little raised grooves in it that just looks like four little bumps on the rubber.

Before I get too far into this review, I want to make one thing clear - Butterfly clamps were never intended for a beginner's use. The clamps clamp down tightly - much more tightly than any beginner will be ready for. If you are a beginner looking for a pair of nipple clamps, I recommend picking up a pair of tweezer clamps because it will allow you to adjust how tightly the clamp grips onto the nipple. EdenFantasys sells some tweezer clamps, so pick a pair of those up instead of you are looking for your first pair of nipple clamps.

What makes Butterfly clamps a favorite among BDSM enthusiasts is that they actually grip pretty tightly. Once these clips are on, it's nearly impossible to remove the clamp by pulling on the chain. In fact, when you pull on the chain, it actually makes the clamps grip even tightly. Some people enjoy attaching weights to the chain of the nipple clamps to make them pull even more tightly. If that's your thing, it will allow you to get more fun out of your nipple clamps.

These clamps will attach to a variety of nipple sizes. I usually use them to attach my skinny boyfriend - which means there isn't much nipple to attach to. They still manage to stay on and don't actually slip off - even with lots of tugging. (It's a bad idea, but I always want to lead him around like it's a leash. That'd be horribly painful.) So if you are worried that the nipple clamps will come off because of small nipples, don't be. They attach well to small as well as larger nipples, and they don't slip off either.

They are pretty painful though. These are not for the faint of pain. They are intended to leave pain and some little marks, so unless you have some practice with nipple clamps, these won't stay on for long periods of time without some stinging. When you pull them off, be prepared for some definite sting as well as the blood rushes back in. If you put these on, do be prepared for something that is going to hold on and not let go.

Nipple clamps should be fine when it comes to washing. It shouldn't get near any bodily fluids, and if it does, it's just metal, so just boil it for sterilization. I don't see much of a point to cleaning these often, but if you choose to, I would just put it in a pot of warm water and antibacterial soap and just swish it around and clean it. It's compatible with lubricants, though that may undermine the point of using it if you choose to put lubricant on the area first. For genital use, though, it'd be possible - the clamps still work with small amounts of lubricant - just not lots.

In the end, it's a pair of Butterfly Clamps. They do exactly what they're supposed to and feel exactly how they are supposed to. They appear to be well-made, and just like the other Spartacus nipple clamps I own, they seem like they will last a long time. These aren't for the beginner of clamps, but if you are looking for something that will keep hold even in the passion of play, this is what you are looking for. For something more "soft", I recommend the tweezer clamps here on EdenFantasys.

These are neat little Butterfly Clamps. We've used these a couple times, and we've also received a couple other pairs of butterfly clamps, and I have to say that these seem to work the best. The chain is strong and doesn't break, and the clasps open and shut very easily. It stores easily, and we haven't had any problem with rusting or anything like that since we bought it.
