Did You Hit Me Yet?

If you need a costume prop, this low priced Feather Crop may be a good way to get one without paying much. Aside from that, I'd pass on this. The quality is very low on both ends. If you just want the feather end it may be somewhat decent, but if you're looking for some impact - look elsewhere.

Use

The Limited Edition Feather Crop is a double sided impact/sensory toy. On one side of it is a feather tickler. The other side is a small crop. The tickler is used for sensory play. You can run it along the body to give a light, sensual feel. The crop end is used for impact play.

Given the nature of this toy, it's really more designed for couples. One person is the top (person using the crop) and one the bottom (person on the receiving end). Of course, you could try spanking yourself with this crop if you so desire.

At a low price point and with the quality of the material, this crop is aimed at beginners. As you'll see from the details that follow, I wouldn't really recommend it no matter what your experience level is.

DESIGN/MATERIAL

As mentioned, there are two sides to the crop. The tickler end is made of feathers. There are a few strands of tinsel in the feathers, which I'm guessing is the "Limited Edition" part of the toy. Mine came with very few tinsels in it. In fact, I didn't even realize they were there until I read another review that mentioned it.

I'm not sure if the feathers are real or not. They look real, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. The crop end is made of a shiny black material, like a wetlook. I can't find info on the exact material used. It's very high gloss to the point of being reflective. The feathers are done in a circular way. I'm able to stick my finger through the middle of it.

The middle is a plastic material wrapped in black ribbon. At first I thought that the plastic just had some texture to it. The ribbon moved around some after use, exposing the black plastic underneath. That's when I realized it was ribbon over it. The photo below shows the ribbon center as well as the feather detail.

SIZE

The total length of the crop is 20.5". The crop portion is 4" long. It is 2.25" wide at the widest point. At the smallest point it is 1 1/8". The feather end is just around 4" long to the tip of the feathers. It is approximately 4" wide from feather tip to feather tip.

The size is good for storage as it will fit in bigger dresser drawers. It's also good for use if you like to be close to your bottom.

QUALITY

To put it bluntly, the quality of this crop is very low. Both ends are simply hot glued to the middle. On the tickler end the feathers clearly got caught up in the hot glue. This produces a not so aesthetically pleasing effect. The crop end is no better. The hot glue is visible coming out where the crop meets the middle. The middle has the ribbon, which moves around to reveal the plastic center. There's areas on mine that you can see the gaps in the ribbon. Again, not visually appealing.

Since the ends are just hot glued on, I can't see this crop withstanding much actual impact play. The times we used the crop it seemed like the end could fly off or break any minute. The feather end may hold up a bit longer since it's not being used for impact.

Performance

The feather end works, well, like feathers would. It provides a light tickling sensation when moved across the body. I'm more of a rough play type of girl. I didn't find it to be all that sensual or erotic. However, if you do like lighter sensation play it may work well for that.

The crop end produces a weird sensation. While my husband used it on me, I found myself trying to decide if the feel was more stingy or thuddy. It's really neither. The feeling is similar to a medium hand slap without the sting. The lack of sting doesn't really make it thuddy though. The end result is that there wasn't much "impact" to this impact toy.

My husband also commented that when using the crop his hands got sweaty from having to hold the feather end. Usually crops have a handle end, or at least ours do. This helps create a better grip. The feathers on the opposing end don't make a great handle.

Finally, the crop end feels like it may break off at any second. It doesn't feel like the hold is strong and we were both waiting for it to fly off upon impact.

Care and Maintenance

There shouldn't be much care or maintenance required for this toy. The big thing is to make sure the feather end doesn't get wet. I'd also avoid putting it somewhere hot as this may weaken the hot glue and lead to it breaking even sooner. If the crop end gets dirty, wiping it off with a damp rag will do the trick.

We store ours in our BDSM dresser drawer. It is a shorter crop, so storage isn't too difficult. It could also go under the bed or in a closet.

Packaging

The crop comes packaged in a clear wrapper with a Pipedream (the company that produces Fetish Fantasy toys) tag at the top. Since the packaging is mostly clear, it's not at all discreet. It also won't work for storage.

The wording on the small tag says "Fetish Fantasy Feather Crop," so again not discreet.

Experience

Our experience with this crop was generally just plain bad. I like heavy impact, which neither end provided. The low quality of the toy was somewhat expected due to the price point, but still disappointing. We personally have to real use for this crop. We have many higher quality ones that provide actual impact.

The crop does come cheap, which may entice BDSM beginners. I caution beginners on getting this simply because the quality is so low. Having the crop end come off during play wouldn't make a great first experience.

The one good use I could see for this crop is as a prop to a costume. Halloween is fast approaching. If your costume requires a crop for whatever reason, this is a nice cheap way to have one. It may also be decent if you're only looking to use the feather end of it for sensation play.
