Tether - restraints discontinued by Sportsheets - review by Airen Wolf

When I bought my Heart's leather wrist cuffs and Heart's Leather Ankle cuffs I knew I needed something to attach them to since I hadn't yet bought a bed restraint systen. Now, I have a lovely Shaker type headboard with lovely solid wood spindles so some tethers seemed like a perfect fit!
I looked around but the Tethers by Sportsheets seemed to fit my needs perfectly and I was completely correct.

The Tethers arrive in a carboard box that is recyclable and perfect for storing the tethers if space is not an issue for you. The box is not at all discreet as it shows a woman with the straps wrapped around her half naked body. Still for a special friend with whom you exchange suggestive gifts this would make a great gift box.

The box holds two tethers that measure 48 inches in length roughly, and are 1 inch wide. They are composed of black nylon and the edges are firmly finished and evenly sewn. There are no loose ends to be pulled and cause the nylon to ravel. These are sturdy and well made. The nylon is soft and comfortable enough that you could fashion a cuff out of the fabric and not cause abrasions or bruises but strong enough that your victim....errr partner is not going anywhere!

The hardware is metal, excellent quality, and attached firmly to the nylon. The stitching holding the hardware (D rings for clipping and thumb clips to attach to a set of cuffs) is even, firm and not going to come apart even with lots of struggling and heavy use. There is a hard plastic buckle that allows the nylon to slide freely and easily between the two ends.


This system can be used in conjunction with a wrist cuff to fashion a thigh or waist cuff easily due to the sliding system the buckle employs. You would simply lengthen the tether so that there is a clip on each end. Slide the D ring of your favorite cuffs to the tether and then use the two clips to secure the belt.
Likewise, you could use the same system to secure your partner's wrists to their thighs. You can secure your partner's ankles to thier thighs or even create a really nice hogtie!

There is a loop that can be attached to a ceiling hook to create a free standing tether. I would recommend reinforcing the loop with a heavy D ring to take the strain of the tugging but we haven't seen any ravelling or any signs of wear even though I have been suspended fully by the loop. I weigh 185 pounds.
The way we enoy using the tethers is to pull them so that there is a clip on each end of the tether, wrap them around the spindles of our headboard and footboard and attach the clips to a set of wrist/ankle cuffs.

The tethers can be washed in the washer and then allowed to drip dry or even run through the dryer on low heat or air dry. To protect your machines I recommend using a lingerie bag or even a pillow case tied so that the metal doesn't bang around or snag. Alternately, a damp cloth can do all of the cleaning a couple who isn't as messy needs!

Whenever I see these laying on my pillow it still gives me a special thrill. They have held up to some real struggling and show very little signs of wear.
