Silk whisper - blindfold by Leatherbeaten - review by Breas

I just recently purchased the Silk Whisper by Leatherbeaten but it had been on my wishlist for a long time. Every time I had gone to place an order, the Silk Whisper was out of stock. Just recently I was able to grab it in time. The blindfold is available in a few colour combinations: purple/silver, purple/black, and red/black. I purchased the purple/black blindfold.

The blindfold was packaged in a clear zip lock style bag when it arrived. There was a tag taped to the outside of the bag that had a picture and the product name on it. There was no other text or photos on the bag. If you’re looking for fancy packaging, you’re not going to get it with this blindfold. You could keep the zip lock style bag to store the blindfold in if you are worried about getting it dirty but I just keep mine on my nightstand.





There was no information on the packaging or blindfold letting me know what the material composition is. The product page states that the Silk Whisper is silk, but the only part that could be silk is the front of the blindfold (the patterned area). The back of the blindfold (what sits on your eyes) feels like flannel pyjamas. It’s really soft. The blindfold has a thick elastic band that goes around your head to keep the blindfold on your face.

I’ve taken a few measurements of the blindfold but if you require additional measurements, let me know and I can get them for you.

Width of mask: 7 7/8 inches
Length of mask (taken down eye area): 3 ¼ inches
Length of mask (taken down nose area): 1 5/8 inches
Elastic band unstretched: 13 inches
Elastic band stretched as much as I could: 35 inches
Length of elastic band: ½ inch

The front of the mask is black and purple while the rest of the mask (the back of the blindfold and the elastic band) is black. The pattern is absolutely gorgeous. It reminds of an Asian print. The pattern is made up of swirls, flowers, vines, leaves, and dragons. The front has a silky shine to it as well, just adding to the beauty. I’ll be honest; I purchased this blindfold solely for its looks. I have a ton of blindfolds already, but I HAD to have this one too.

There is a black trim around the eye mask. The trim is a smidge over 2/8 of an inch thick. The back of the blindfold (the part that sits on your eyes) reminds me of a pair of flannel pyjamas. It’s very soft and comfortable against the skin. Both my partner and I had tried the mask on and we both think it would be an excellent mask to sleep in.

The mask does an excellent job at blocking out all of the light. You could use the mask for sensory play with your partner or to sleep in. It would work great for both of those purposes.

The elastic is nice and thick. It holds the mask tightly to your head. It’s very stretchy (see measurements above) so it will fit most people regardless of how large your head may be. The elastic is well secured to the mask so you can stretch it as much as you need without the fear of ripping it right off. The quality of the blindfold is excellent.

There are no care instructions that come with the blindfold but I will probably gently hand wash the blindfold when it needs to be cleaned. The back of the blindfold picks up pet hair pretty easily so you’ll want to keep it out of pets reach (you can see some cat hair on the back of my blindfold in the photo above- she loves to roll around on my review items).

Overall, I’m very happy with the mask. It’s excellent quality, gorgeous, blocks out all light, and is very soft against my face. I have quite a few eye masks but this one is my new favourite. Not just because its beautiful but because it’s very comfortable. I can wear this for extended periods of time (overnight) without any comfort issues arising. The price is a bit high but the blindfold is well worth it.

I still LOVE my Silk Whisper Mask. I sleep with the mask almost every night. It's the most comfortable mask that I own (and I have quite a few). The Silk Whisper actually went into my lingerie bag and in the washing machine on cold. The mask came out fine and there were no issues with putting it into the washing machine. I actually just recently purchased the red/black colour combination of the Silk Whisper because I just love it! I would still recommend the blindfold to others whether you want a mask for play in the bedroom or to sleep in.
