This is my first pair of nipple clamps, and let me say: WOW, what a place to start. Beginning with clover style clamps is less like getting thrown in the deep end to learn to swim, and more like starting in the middle of an ocean: these are business clamps.

Clover style clamps in general have a pretty strong starting bite, but they are constructed such that pulling on the back end forces the jaws to clamp down tighter. In this way, the harder you pull on the chain, the harder the clamp bites down and the more intense the experience is going to be. I’m sure that at some point if you pull hard enough, the clamps will slip off, but the pressure needed for that is so far beyond my threshold that I have no way of actually knowing for sure. I do know that at the point where I need to stop pulling, the clamps haven’t lost any grip whatsoever. For someone who demands more pressure from their nipple clamps, I don’t expect these to disappoint.

For the person who might enjoy some light squeezing and teasing on their nipples: this is a few degrees beyond and is more of a tool for S&M due to the intense pressure. While some other styles of nipple clamps can provide lighter starting sensations, these clamps start intense and only go up from there as you pull harder on the chain.

The Fresh Jaw Clamps are in line with PHS International's color theme, and come in pink and blue models. The paint doesn't come off easily so you can reasonably expect the clamps to retain their beautiful color through plenty of use. It will, however, start chipping off early around the hinges where the metal scrapes against itself.

On the clamping end, the metal is bent to hold small rubber insets that have little bumps for extra grip. Don’t be fooled though: the rubber is hardly any more forgiving than the metal that holds it and is really only there to provide a flat surface and a better grip.

The chain linking the clamps is pretty hefty, and is not something you need to worry about damaging in the regular course of play (unless you’re using hammers and saws in the bedroom, in which case you should be looking at vice grips instead of these) and is a great way to pull on both nipples at once with only one hand. The body of the clamps, however, is a little more delicate: while the clamping mechanism is bent in shapes that are resistant to further bending, the pulling/tightening mechanism is made of flat strips of metal which can be bent out of shape if you apply pressure in a direction other than directly outward from the clamp. That’s not to say that they’re going to break during play; proper treatment will see these lasting a good long time, but just don’t accidentally sit on them. The silver lining, however, is that they can easily be bent back into shape.

All in all, I would recommend clamps in general to anyone who enjoys a bit of nipple play, but I would only recommend these clamps to someone who isn’t satisfied unless they have bite marks on their nipples; which these can and do provide.
