Naughty ruler - paddle by Ruff doggie styles - review by Bon Bon

The naughty ruler is a fun and simple way to add some spice to the bedroom. The first time I used it, I’d never really used an instrument for spanking, but the naughty ruler definitely served as a nice introduction.

The wooden ruler comes bound to a piece of cardboard, very simple packaging. The ruler is a foot long, and the bottom fourth of the ruler is wrapped with a leather strap. The strap felt nice in my grip, and it allowed me to keep my grip without moving around too much. It felt nice and sturdy as well, and never once did I think the wood might break, since it's rather thick and wide. The only problem with the strap is it’s kind of flimsily glued, and after a couple of used the strap came apart in the middle. It wasn’t that big of a deal; I just cut off the part that came loose and glued the rest down again, but I’d watch out and make sure the strap doesn’t come too undone. The wood part of the ruler is a lot better put together than the strap, though it's not glazed with anything, so be careful so as not to give yourself or your partner splinters.

This toy would be pretty safe to use with multiple partners, as long as you kept it to external areas, which is a good idea anyway since it is made of wood and the possibility of splinters is there. It might be difficult to clean if you were to get it dirty, though. It stores easily in a drawer and doesn't really require much to keep it safe.

As far as why you should buy this rather than your everyday ruler, I think the wood is better for impact play, mostly because I think a regular ruler would be far more painful and sting even more, even if you didn't strike as hard. Also, this ruler doesn't have the metal edge inserted into the side, so you can use the sides for impact as well.

I was pretty comfortable using this. The grip itself was good, even though the leather was a little flimsy, but I wouldn't hold it too tight, as the leather doesn't really do much for cushioning. The ruler is lightweight, so my hand didn't get tired or anything. I have pretty average sized hands, but I think someone with larger or smaller hands than mine would have no problem holding this either. It's not very flexible, so I'd also be careful and not bend the wood at all. Overall, I found this toy very easy to control.

The rest of the ruler is fairly wide, and fairly thick, definitely more so than your average ruler. The wood seemed like much lighter than I thought it would be, and it didn’t really sting when I was struck with it on my ass. With added force, you can make it hurt more, but I prefer to keep it only moderately painful, and I think you could use this toy to produce very little pain, if a slight sensation was what you were looking for. By the end of the night, even with only moderate force, my skin was still a little raw, but I didn't see any marks. I think this ruler is great for a beginner such as myself. For experienced players, I'm not so sure they'd get as much out of it. You can definitely make it more painful with added force, but the level of pain still remains quite bearable. The main thing I think experienced players would get out of this is the novelty aspect of the ruler and a toy for roleplay.

The naughty ruler makes a perfect tool for roleplay; I actually bought it so that I could play the naughty schoolgirl to the Teaching Fellow I was dating at the time. I never did get to do that – we broke up soon after I bought it – but I’ve been able to take full advantage of its roleplay possibility since. I think this toy would be best for rolepayers as well as for beginners, because it is easy as well as fun. The back of the ruler reads, “Do you measure up?” And every time I see that written, I can’t help but laugh. I would say the naughty ruler does indeed measure up.
