I have not used this paddle on my husband, so this is from the point of view of the paddled

The Naughty Ruler came strapped to a 5X4 inch piece of cardboard by a long plastic cable tie {note: all of the packaging is recyclable}. The front of the card board states the name of the product, the manufacturer, and that the wooden ruler paddle measures 12 inches, and to my surprise it is an accurate ruler (it does not say that it is 1.5 inches in width, but there you have it); the back has a cute little "sales pitch" and also states that the paddle is made out of wood and PVC. There are no naked people on the package, but it is not discreet. You could probably wrap this and give it as a gift, I would suggest using a gift bag but that is because I am anal about wrapping and this would not wrap pretty. The paddle does not come with storage or cleaning instructions, just the cardboard and cable tie. I store it in a temporary box that I am storing all my toys in.



When I first got the Naughty Ruler it felt too rigid, although it does have a little give to it. I was a little nervous to have it used on me, as this is our first paddle. The handle (Eden has it listed as made with leather, but the package says PVC- I cannot find any details anywhere else on this!) is 4 inches long; feels loose and over time will come undone. We have only had the Naughty Ruler a little over a month, and have probably used it 5 or 6 times and the handle is already showing wear and tear, as you can see below. You have to be careful about how much force you use, because it does have the potential to break if you spank to hard.



The wood is not glazed but has been sanded down so that there are no splinters, and unlike other rulers there is no metal strip and the paddle is a little thicker than your average ruler. The paddle is not discreet, it is obviously a naughty toy with the words "Do you measure up?" written on the back. The ruler does provide a nice little sting, but may break if used too forcefully, meaning this would be used for light to medium strength paddling only. With me having small hands the inch and a half width is too big and makes it uncomfortable to hold for me. The husband, with hands nearly half a size bigger than mine, says it fits comfortably in his hand, for a short period of time, but because of the rectangular shape it becomes straining on the hand muscles after a while. Because of the criss-cross pattern they used when applying the leather/PVC/handle it may get sweaty with extended use, but the texture and pattern used makes it easy to keep a hold of.

The Naughty Ruler is a wonderful little paddle that can be used on the buttocks, thighs, labia, breasts, and any other place you like to have spanked. It has no smell or taste, and makes a wonderful smacking sound when in use, if you are going to use this to it's full potential then it would not be a good choice for those living in a group situation. It leaves a nice red mark and me begging for more, the red marks my husband has left on me lasted no more than 24 hours, and he has yet to cause welts. I do not believe that on the buttocks this could cause damage, but on more sensitive areas (such as the labia or man bits) this has the potential to cause some serious damage if used the wrong way. Also, when using this be wary of the corners as they could cause unwanted pain.

As for cleaning, I have not got it wet because wood is porous, and the handle looks porous. If something does get on it we wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth, but we haven't had it come in contact with any fluids, so I am not sure how one would go about cleaning in that situation. I really wish this would have come with cleaning instructions.

The husband and I bring out the naughty ruler during role play or foreplay, when his hand just isn't providing enough sting. Although I do prefer the hand because it is more intimate, I really enjoy the naughty ruler. Most would probably use this for spanking of the buttocks, but since my husband’s hand is too wide, I love it best for spanking my labia. It fits between my legs without me having to spread too far, or stand up, and provides a nice amount of pain that gets my motor purring in no time!

We have not tried it on the breasts yet, as I am nursing and I imagine that would be painful, but if you are not sensitive (as I am during this period of my life) it would be awesome for smacking the breasts.

As I said, my husband uses this on me, not the other way around, so I don't know what kind of sensations it would provide on male parts.

This is another toy that we don't use as much as we thought we would. We have acquired a cute little school girl out fit that goes with this wonderfully when we're in the mood to role play; but if I'm not playing a school girl then we're using our riding crop. The ruler is still in decent condition, but not used often.
