Soft, sturdy, and a lot of fun.

I think this item is well worth it for anyone. Beginners and experts could likely find a use in these soft yet sturdy 6' long ropes. Though you do not get a guide to them I am sure you could experiment until the time comes where you got yourself a book to teach. I absolutely loved the material; however, if you do not like to hand wash I would suggest you get something a little less high maintenance.

Use

This product is obviously fantastic for beginners. Not too much length and has two separate ropes. The soft material is great because just in case something does get too tight or possibly too loose then there is not much damage inflicted on the subject. I would definitely suggest that anyone who is not experienced in the art of tying to start with these ropes. Might also want to grab yourself a book to go with because these babies do not come with any directions. They are quite strong too, if tied correctly that is. I would not suggest this kit to someone who is more into leaving rope markings, suspending, or shibari. The ropes hardly leaves marks unless you put them in an area tight enough and long enough to actually do so. They are not long enough in my opinion for suspending or shibari at all, from my experience both take much more rope than what is provided in this kit.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

The ropes are well made for sure, soft silken and quite strong. Only issue I found is the ends may start to fray. That is easily fixed with the many ways we fix shoe laces, add an aglet or simply burn the tip melting the silk back together. Most consumers will find many uses for the rope, as well as the ropes are good for even more advanced users for the "quick" type of jobs. No need in breaking out the 30' of rope for a simple hog tie.

Performance

This kit worked rather well for me and still does. My partner and I are more experienced than most but we still find ways for the shorter ropes to be used. They are much more quick and easy to deal with than our 30' rope and many other toys we have to use for restraining. They are great for when I want to put up that extra fight, no damage is done to my fragile little body.

    • Holds up to use well

Care and Maintenance

Because the ropes are made from silk I have never machine washed them. I have always hand washed them with my delicate soap just like I do all my silken garments. I hang them to dry (outside if the weather permits) in my washroom on a hanger. I bought a spool type thing that I wrap them both around and I store them high on a shelf in a closet so I know that they are dry and so forth.

Packaging

If you are a beginner you will want to grab yourself some sort of guide unless you are just looking to do some exploration. The packaging does tell you that the ropes are silk, do not remember if it came with washing instructions.

Experience

Once the ropes were ready to be used (unpackaged, washed, dried, strength checked) I prepared for my partner to get home by self tying the ropes around my neck in a manner which would tell him I was ready for play right there and then. He greeted me with a kiss and then continued by re-tying me up. This is where I tested the ropes fully. I tugged, I wriggled, I pulled, I weaved. The ropes didn't give much way and didn't burn me as I attempted my escape. Once play time was over and I finally got released from my rope imprisonment I looked over my body for marks, only a few of the tighter wrappings were visible and lightly red at that. As well I had no bruising to follow up.

Follow-up commentary
Still love these soft durable ropes... perfect for quick and safe play. Have had my partner practice more on their binding skills and now these ropes are even better when used.

Good review. If you are looking for some help, YouTube has rope videos, EF carries how-to rope books, and TwoKnottyBoys have some videos on their website for free.
