Icicles No. 12 - dildo discontinued by Pipedream - review by Andromeda

The Icicles no. 12 is one absolutely gorgeous glass dildo. Handblown to be both beautiful and functional, this is one toy you may not want to put away at the end of the day. Perfect for solitary play, it's just the right flower to stick in your vase *wink wink*.

This toy is meant for penetrative play, either vaginally or anally (the flared base makes it safe for anal play or functions as a great handle!). It works best as a solo toy, as the combined texture, material, and girth make it something that takes a bit of getting used to-- you'll want to use lube. I especially love using this toy vaginally with my Siri resting against my clit and the shaft of the toy, transferring the vibrations to my g-spot. Absolutely divine! It's also perfect for temperature play, as glass retains both cold and heat.

If used during partner play, be sure to communicate extra well with your partner and notify him/her of any discomfort, as the glass definitely could bruise your cervix. For this reason, the Icicle 12 performs best with gentle thrusting and rocking, especially since the 4.75" girth and glass provide really firm g-spot stimulation.

Unfortunately, this toy is not travel friendly. It doesn't come with a storage bag and is otherwise too big to be easy to hide, even though it is possible to pass this off as a piece of art.

This beauty is made of pyrex glass, one of the safest materials on the market. It's odorless, tasteless, hard and smooth to the touch. Pyrex glass is pretty tough as far as glass goes, and it can take a bit of a beating. However, it IS still breakable, though instead of shattering it will break into large pieces. I've already dropped my Icicle once from about 3 feet up onto linoleum flooring, and no damage done. If you do drop your Icicle, be sure to examine it closely for any cracks, dents, or other indications that the structural integrity of the toy has been compromised.

Pyrex glass can also resist changes in temperature better than average glass, although you'll want to use common sense with this one. I've found that the Icicle no 12 is both great after being thrown in the freezer for a few minutes, or warmed up. It'll heat up to body temperature fairly quickly if it starts out at room temp.

One of the lovely things about glass is that it's rigidness works beautifully for g-spot play. Without much effort, it really applies pressure and keeps it right where you want it.

The shaft of the toy features two smaller buldges to provide extra stimulation. I've found that while the middle buldge gives a bit more oomph and teases the vaginal opening, the bottom one is too far down the shaft, even when the toy is fully inserted. I didn't really find this to be problematic, though, since I was too busy focusing on the actual flower bud.

Glass probably isn't suitable for a first toy, but is perfect for any other level user. I would caution beginners against this one though because of the size.

As with all the Icicles, the design of this dildo is absolutely fabulous. The rose shaped top is lovely! Though the specifications say it is 4.75" inches in girth, mine was a bit closer to 5". There may be some slight discrepancies like this as all the icicles are handmade. While the slight flare of the petals and the girth of the flower portion make for excellent g-spotting sensations, it is not the best design for someone not used to this amount of girth, as it's not really tapered. For this same reason, it probably would not be the best choice for anal play, though the base is wide enough. If you can handle the girth, though, the bulbous flower makes for some seriously intense g spot sensations. Because it is girthy, you don't have to go poking around for that right spot--it naturally hits it. The flared out petals also create an amazing drag when you gently thrust it back and forth.

At nearly 8" long, this dildo definitely isn't a travel-friendly toy. As far as discreetness goes, there is a chance it could be passed off as a piece of art, but it will still leave your more perceptive friends wondering.

What can I say about the performance of this dildo? The first thing that comes to mind is: OMG!!!

It's a bit uncomfortable when you first insert it due to the petal detailing (you'll want to insert it very carefully the first few times to get used to it), but this soon ceases to matter. Once you get going, everything about this toy is sheer magic, and the petal detailing goes from being an annoyance to a blessing. The way the petals are flared provide the perfect amount of drag to really hit all those sweet spots. The buldge of the rose bud is perfect. Though I stay away from girthy toys, the combination of the near 5" circumference plus the pyrex glass allowed me to experience the benefits of more girth without any pain.

Though the shaft portion of the dildo doesn't really do much for me, this is probably because I'm fairly small and cannot take as much length as the shaft offers.

The flared base provides a decent handle, though every now and then I find my hand slipping, though that could simply be a result of my over-enthusiasm! As someone who is still learning to squirt, I find myself experiencing some progress when I use this toy. Definitely a good thing!

Icicle number 12 is made from pyrex glass, making it non-porous and body safe. This also means you can boil it, bleach it in a 10% solution, throw it on the top rack of the dishwasher (no soap) to sterilize it if you want to share between orifices or partners (or just give it an extra-good cleaning). You can also simply wipe it down with warm water and antibacterial soap or your favorite toy cleaner for a simpler clean-up.

Glass is compatible with any and every type of lubricant, so you can grab your favorite brand and lube this baby up! To store, I recommend keeping it in the box it comes in, or buying a thick, padded storage pouch. Though pyrex glass does not break easily, you still want to keep your icicles scratch free and looking good.

The toy comes packaged in a pretty but decidedly not discreet box with a flap that opens to display the toy through a window. The packaging is definitely pretty and contains useful information about the toy itself and ways it can be used. The actual dildo is nestled in a styrofoam mold to keep it safe. I personally keep my icicle stored inside the box where I know it will be safe.
