It does not change speeds nor can it be turned off via the push button. Now, I still decided to review this toy and not request a replacement for the following reasons:

1.) The vibrating function was not my main interest in this toy, the porn star mold was.
2.) The bullet functioned at the highest speed, which is what I prefer, properly and well enough for me to test it.
3.) Other reviewers have had great success with the included bullet.
4.) The bullet can be replaced with a different one.

The bullet is powered by 2 AAA batteries, which are not included. They are installed in a small plastic insert which slides inside the bullet. There is a black rubber O-Ring included, so make sure it is intact and the lid is closed tightly if you wish to use this toy in the water. The push button design is very simple to operate.


Bullet and Components.

Insert the bullet in the hole at the base of the dildo. The package suggests sprinkling the included powder inside the hole as well as on the bullet to make insertion and removal easier. The powder didn't seem to be sufficient to keep the bullet from getting stuck, and after using quite a bit, I still had difficulties removing it. A dab of lubricant can also be used.

The bullet is very powerful, and the Platinum Silicone conducted the vibrations well. They could be felt throughout the entire toy, all the way up the shaft and into the tip. I also used the bullet for clitoral stimulation while thrusting with the dildo. This toy is a bit on the loud side, so if you need discretion, this might not be a good choice, as it could probably be heard through closed doors.

In my opinion, silicone toys are the easiest to maintain. There are several options for cleaning the dildo portion of this toy. It can be washed before an after each use with anti-bacterial soap and warm water. Toy wipes or a special toy cleaner can also be used. If you will sharing James, or using him for oral, vaginal and anal stimulation, further measures should be taken. It can be sanitized between partners/entry points with one of the following methods: a 10 minute soak in 10 percent bleach solution, a 5 minute bath in boiling water or a soap-free wash in the top rack of the dishwasher. Use a condom or toy cover if one the sanitation methods is not available or feasible. Just make sure you have some XXL size on hand, as a standard size condom might tear apart fitting over James' huge package.

The included bullet can be washed with soap and water, toy cleaner or a toy wipe. It cannot be sanitized by boiling or in the dishwasher, but it can be soaked in the bleach solution. Just be sure to remove the batteries and make sure the O-ring is intact and the lid is closed tightly. There is an included packet of James Deen powder which should be sprinkled inside the bullet cavity and dusted onto the bullet before inserting to make removal easier. There is nothing special about this powder; it is merely cornstarch. I still had a bit of trouble removing the bullet, even with the powder. I found that a drop or two of lubricant aided this task much better. The following photo shows the back of the powder packet, which lists instructions and ingredients.

Speaking of lubricant, this toy should be used with water based ones only. I tested it with Sliquid Silk, which does have a tad of silicone in it, even though Eden lists it as water based. The toy did not suffer any damage with the use of the Sliquid Silk. Do a patch test, though if you are unsure.

The toy comes with a black satin storage pouch. The pouch does not look like it would hold up very well. I will be storing mine in the box. I love the photos on it. Storing it this way will also keep it separate from other silicone toys, assuring they will not damage each other.
