Not That Toy in The Window

The Midnight Twist is a reasonably-priced glass dildo with a slight angle that can feasibly be used for g-spot thrusting, but be aware: hand-made in this instance means a lot of variation from the dildo pictured.

Use

The reasonable price-point of the Midnight twist would make it a great toy for someone who is new to glass. I would also suggest it as a gift, because it's a sturdy, well-built toy with an appealing appearance. The dark blue head is angled enough for light g-spot stimulation, while the handle provides a nice popping feeling when inserted if that's what you're looking for.

The toy is thin enough to be suitable for a beginner, and the raised bumps offer a small amount of texture. In contrast to earlier reviews of this toy, the white lines weren't actually raised on mine, and the bumps were on the top instead of the bottom. Because of this I wouldn't recommend the toy to someone looking for a lot of texture.

Because it's glass, it's ideal for temperature play. I found that it held cold better than heat, though, so if you're looking for a warm toy I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

These are hand-made, so don't count on the angle of the curve or the diameter of the heads being exactly what is pictured. For me, my toy was about an inch longer, noticeably thinner, and with a far more tapered head than pictured. If you are okay with noticeable variation from the display this won't be a problem, but I wouldn't suggest it otherwise.

Material / Texture

The Midnight Twist is made of Pyrex glass, with five raised red nubs evenly spaced on the top side underneath the flared head. In contrast to earlier reviews of this toy, the one I received had no texture on the swirls. I could very faintly feel them raised when I pressed firmly against the toy with my finger, but on vaginal insertion, there was no texture.

The bumps aren't large or raised enough to really feel for me. I was disappointed in this because I was looking forward to that taste of texture, but for me I couldn't find an angle to press firmly enough against the top of my vagina for me to really feel the bumps sliding in and out. This would be good news for someone who doesn't like texture and is looking at this toy, but it was a downside for me.

Because the toy is made of glass, it's hard and very rigid. You will want to be cautious when using this toy, because it'd be easy to get bruised. The slight curve of it made that more of a problem for me than I expected, because my frustration at not firmly nailing my g-spot on thrusts made me use it harder than I would if it were shaped better.

You can use this toy for temperature-play because of it being glass.

Design / Shape / Size

I wish that I could say I enjoyed the design of the Midnight Twist, but I found it more frustrating than anything. The toy that I ordered was thicker with a curve that seemed to start about halfway up the shaft. The toy I received was almost entirely straight through the shaft, with a sharp 45 degree angle for the noticeably tapered head.

When I held it up to the 1:1 size ratio, I was shocked at just how much variation there was. I knew to expect that there'd be some with it being a hand-made toy, but it felt like all my dildo really had to do with the one pictured was the color scheme. The raised nubs were on the top instead of the bottom, the shape was different, and the shaft was noticeably thinner.

I did find that I enjoyed the tapered, angled head of the dildo for foreplay. I enjoyed sticking it in the freezer (not something I would recommend for penetration, but enjoyable for external temperature play) and running the tapered head over and between my labia. It's just sharp enough of a point to slightly part them, which was enjoyable for a tease.

I'm not sure that I would call this a discreet toy. For someone unfamiliar with the idea of glass dildos you might be able to pass it off, but the shape, though not realistic, is pretty distinct. I also wouldn't recommend this dildo for travel. Glass could chip easily, and the provided bag provides no padding. If you purchased a bag separately I could see traveling with it.

Performance

The best thing for me about this toy was the length. I'm neither slim nor flexible, so the ample length made it a lot easier to use as a thrusting toy than other, shorter toys. It also makes it easier for a partner to comfortably use on you, which was a definite plus for me. The ball-shaped handle is easy to hold onto, and it didn't come out of my hand even when things got slippery.

It was my first experience with glass, and I also enjoyed the aspects of the toy that come specifically from being glass. The unyielding nature of the toy made it much nicer to clench around than softer toys, and the smoothness of the glass meant that very little lubricant was needed. I actually found that I could take it just off of vaginal lubricant when I wasn't really aroused, which is a rarity for me. Not needing to worry about lube or reapply during use of a dildo was a nice treat.

What I didn't like was the curve to it. I need a fairly serious curve to hit my g-spot adequately, and this toy just didn't give it. The angle of the head was about 45 degrees, and outside of that, the toy was straight.

It was enough to glance over my g-spot and if I were looking for a tease this would be the toy I would go for, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone really looking for g-spot stimulation.

I also found it difficult to use other toys while using this one.

Care and Maintenance

The Midnight Twist is made of glass, which makes it fantastic to care for. It is easy to clean with just soap and water or a toy wipe, and you can boil it to sterilize if you share toys or just really, really want it to be clean.

As far as maintenance goes, be gentle with it. It's pyrex, which means that it's a good bit sturdier than normal glass, but it's still glass. Don't store it with other glass toys. Don't drop it. Be careful about knocking it on things- the length of it makes it easy to do that, so watch out. Don't expose it to temperature shock. Don't overheat or overfreeze it and then use it on yourself, because this toy conducts cold a lot better than you might expect if you're unfamiliar with glass.

I would suggest getting a bag other than the one that comes with this toy for storage. It's also not discreet because of the shape, so if that's an issue, I suggest not leaving it out on your nightstand. Some glass dildos can pass as art; this isn't one of them.

Packaging

The packaging on this was uninspiring. The dildo itself came loose in the box, wrapped in bubblewrap, with a red velvet bag. The bright crimson of the bag feels a bit tacky, and the lack of padding makes it really not all that useful for storing the toy. I'd almost rather they hadn't included a bag at all, because the inclusion makes me feel obligated to use it.

I wouldn't give this to someone as a gift in the default packaging, and I wouldn't view it as discreet. If someone opens the shipping box, they'll have no trouble figuring out what this is.

There's no included literature. It's just a dildo and a bag.

Personal comments

I wish that this dildo had more to do with the one pictured than the color scheme, but at the end of the day, I'm learning to work with it as the toy that it is instead of the toy I want it to be.
Follow-up commentary
After spending more time with this toy, I've started to like it more. My original review holds true on how different the toy I received was from the one I purchased, but with time and trial I've found that the arch to the pointed head is good for a-spot stimulation.
