The Double Dare is Pyrex quality, 100% sterilizable, rose pink glass, so you can use any lube you like. I prefer a light water-based for all toys. The Double Dare comes in an oversized slightly padded drawstring bag that could protect it from scratches but probably not from any impact that could break Pyrex anyway. The toy is 6 and 3/4 inches long, which is a little shorter than the average glass dildo, but 6 and 1/8 in circumference at its widest point which is considerably larger than the average.

This simple toy is all about the girth on the nubby end. I’m a big fan of glass and a big fan of girth, so you know I’m going to like this one. For me, this is a vaginal toy. The shape could certainly be used anally for some, but the small end is, for me, a little large to be so completely blunt or round, and the large end is… well, really large. For vaginal insertion, I’m inclined to compare the Double Dare to the Cyberglass Four-way G which was one of the early affordable shapes in glass that Eden offered. I was immediately attracted to the Double Dare because I’ve always liked the nubby end of the Four-way but always wanted it to be larger. Even with the wonderful new selection of affordable glass available, at the time of this review, a search on EdenFantasys shows that the Double Dare is a uniquely girthy glass toy.

The large end reminds me of a lotus bud. It’s about that size. It’s a pretty smooth pink with no flaws or nicks. It has juicer type swirls that start near the tip which is comfortably rounded (note the Four-way is just a little too pointy in comparison). The swirls merge into the two rows of nubs which continue in a slight spiral to the widest point of the toy. The other end, which could certainly be inserted, I tend to think of as a very comfortable ergonomic handle. It fits nicely in the hand and invites the twisting and juicing action that this toy seems designed for. The “handle” is a bit shorter than the average but it works well for a partner to hold. It’s also the right length (at least for me) to keep a finger on the tip to hold the larger end just inside the vagina or to tap or gently swirl, not as comfortable for self-thrusting vaginally, but, for me, that wasn’t the focus of this toy anyway.

Inserted with a little water-based lube, the girth gave a pleasantly stretched feeling. The nubs are smooth and, for me, comfortably stimulating. In use, however, the toy is not quite what I imagined it would be. One of the beauties of glass is that the weight allows the toy to remain in place pretty well without holding it in. Certainly this is one of the advantages of the Four-Way. It can be inserted and then left there while using a vibrator or clitoral stimulation, etc. so that it’s there to clench around during orgasm, which is what I look for in hard toys. The weight alone of the Double Dare wasn’t enough to hold it in, though. Because the angle of the design from the widest nubby girth to the end point is fairly steep, the toy tends to slide out or be pushed out fairly easily, especially with a little lube. Again, the handle is shaped so that it can be very easily held in with one finger for solo play, but if you want it there at the climax, you’ll probably need to do that. I really like the Double Dare and will continue to experiment with it, but a toy with a longer approach into the girthiest point will be the next shape I’ll be watching for. Still, though there are always new shapes to be explored, I love the cleanliness and hardness of glass, loved the nubs, loved the feeling of the juicing action, and adored the girth, so the Double Dare is a new favorite.
