Funny Little Bunny Surprise

The Bunny Buddy by California Exotic Novelties is a whimsical little finger or bullet-vibrator sleeve, shaped like--you'll never guess--a bunny. Well, not like a real, live, hopping-ball-of-fur bunny; more like one of those adult Easter Bunny costumes you see someone wearing at the mall in April. He comes with his own clear plastic bullet-vibe and TWO sets of button batteries. He seems to be intended mainly for clitoral stimulation, although he could also be used externally around anuses (ani?), perineums, scrotums, penises, and nipples, and could even be used for shallow vaginal penetration with his curved uni-ear. Alternatively, the waterproof bullet-vibe can be used externally on its own, or inserted into another toy or harness that has a bullet pocket; the bunny sleeve can accommodate a different bullet-style vibrator with multiple functions, such as the Maia MB1 or the We-Vibe Salsa, or could be used on a finger.

The bunny-sleeve part of this toy is made of TPR silicone, which rates a 6 on the EdenFantasys Material Safety Scale. TPR silicone is a blend of thermoplastic rubber (a synthetic rubber) with at least 10% silicone. It is free of latex and phthalates, which qualifies this material as hypo-allergenic. It is still somewhat porous, though, so it can't be sterilized and shouldn't be shared. The surface has a smooth, slightly matte texture which helps minimize drag. There is a slight scent to the bunny, but I'm having difficulty describing it; maybe something like a faint new-car-smell tinged with...floral? Anyway, it's only detectable when I bring the sleeve within half a centimeter of my nose.



The bullet vibrator is a smooth, hard, clear ABS-type plastic. This allows you to see the tiny motor and vibrating mechanism inside.

This is obviously a small toy, measuring in at a total length of just 4.25" with the bullet inserted, and having a diameter of about one inch at its widest point. The body and neck of the bunny sleeve are hollow, providing room for the bullet as well as flexibility in the neck. The ears are solid, and are the least-flexible part of the bunny. The bullet vibrator measures 2.75" long, with about a .75" diameter--a pretty standard size for these mini bullet vibes.

The design is...interesting. I can't quite figure out if the "ears" are meant for shallow vaginal penetration while the "feet" rest on the clit, or if the whole bunny is just supposed to provide different types of clitoral stimulation, depending on which part you use. The solid ears transmit vibrations very well, while the feet only offer very light, gentle sensations.

The bullet-vibe requires four LR44 button batteries, and comes with two sets of them. Each set of four has its own little plastic cylindrical case, and the whole thing slides right into the vibrator; this is very handy, because I know first-hand how difficult it can be to get a tiny button battery into a vibe with the correct side facing up! There is a single black rubber power-button on the base of the cap--one press will turn the toy on, and another will turn it off. It's on the noisy side for a small toy, at about 3.5 bees without the sleeve and 2.5 bees with the sleeve. The vibrations are very high-pitched and buzzy, and I'd rate them at 3.5 vrooms for the bullet alone, and 2 to 2.5 vrooms when inside the bunny.



The first time I inserted the bullet into the bunny, I made the mistake of doing so without adding any lubricant or cornstarch powder. It was nearly impossible to remove again--I had to slide a thumb-nail beneath the bunny's edge and work it slowly up until I could pull the sleeve off. Be sure to add a drop of lube to the bullet before inserting!

Caring for this toy is made very easy by the bullet's waterproof feature. Simply wash both pieces with soap and water, or spray with a toy-cleaning liquid and follow the directions on the cleaner's bottle. You'll want to remove the batteries after using the Bunny Buddy, as that will extend the life of the batteries and the vibe. Store this guy separately from your silicone toys in a dark, cool place.

The packaging my Bunny Buddy arrived in was rather minimal: the bunny was in a stapled-shut plastic baggie; the bullet, its batteries, and a small instruction sheet were in a taped-shut baggie; and both of them were placed inside a clear, Ziploc-type bag. No box, no information about the materials (I got that from adding the product to my comparison page), no usage suggestions. At least all the plastic is recyclable. The larger, reclosable bag could be used for storage, if you so desire.

I received this little guy as my second Mystery Gift item, free with a purchase of $59 or more. Many, many other people have reported receiving him too--this guy really gets around! Speculations abound as to whether these bunnies are truly doing what bunnies are said to do best, and multiplying all over the EdenFantasys warehouse! He comes in both pink and blue, but everyone seems to be receiving the pink color only. He's far from the only Mystery Gift being shipped, but he is definitely the one being received the most.

If you aren't happy with him as a free gift, you could always give him to someone who might get a giggle out of it, or someone who likes all sex toys that don't look like penises. If you can find a use for the waterproof bullet with another toy, you could always give the sleeve to your kids to play with as an Easter finger-puppet. Seriously, there is nothing about the bunny himself that says "sex toy".
