My Body is Devoted, My Soul is Not.

The Body and Soul Devotion is a new toy from California Exotics. It is a part of their latest line, Body and Soul, which includes the Remote I, Remote II, Elation, Connection, Desire, Embrace, Transcend, and Lust (I think that is everything EdenFantasys carries of the Body and Soul line!) Whew!

This basic vibrator is made for vaginal insertion. It is not recommended for anal insertion due to the fact there is not grip handle on the bottom. This toy could also be used for any other erogenous zone on your body too (nipples, clitoris, balls, penis, etc.) You could use it on yourself, for solo play or you could use it on your partner or your partner could use it on you for couples play.

This toy is suitable for beginners or advanced users, depending on whether or not you like the size, functions, buzz factor and strength.

The Devotion is PU Coated Plastic. The material is hypo-allergenic, phthalate free and non-porous. It has a fairly safe rating at 7/10, but I prefer toys with an 8-10 safety rating. The reason it is a 7 is because it is coated, and could potential peel off. The toy did not have a smell when it came out of the box or after use and wash.

There are no bumps or ridges on this toy, no texture. The whole toy is smooth and soft. There is no drag when you slide it against your skin. This makes for an easy insertion. There isn't even a single seam in the insertable portion. That is very nice, because for a stiff toy, it is more comfortable because there is no seam.

This toy cannot be bent, twisted or shaped. It is stiff as a board and will remain that way. This can be good and bad, depending on your anatomy.

You might have added this toy to your wish list based on the look alone. And I don't blame you, because this toy is GORGEOUS! The colors are fun and the iridescent soft satin finish is just lovely. It is hard to tell the toy is iridescent from my pictures or the product pictures, but it is.

Beyond the color, the design is pretty basic. The only other part of the design to talk about it the small triangle silver part on the twist off bottom. The silver part is mirrored – you can see yourself in it. It also gets finger smudges easily. The toy almost looks like a little guy wearing a bandana or a bib. It kind of reminds me of a superhero cape too.

The one thing about the design I am worried about... is that the finish is going to come off. Although it is lovely, it is painted on, and it might peel off with use. If you try to scratch it, it doesn't do anything, but it feels like it might after a while. I did the scratch test, and got nadda. But I will get an update to you, if anything does happen.

The toy is average length and middle of the line to small on the width. I can wrap my thumb and finger around it, and there is still extra to go. It is a nice size in my opinion. The size makes it easy to travel with. It can easily fit in a deep pocket, a purse or small bag.

This toy requires 2 AA batteries, which are not included in the package. They are easy to insert into the toy. Just twist off the bottom section and you will find a helpful paper that draws out how to insert the batteries correctly. Once you have the batteries inserted, twist back on the bottom and test out the toy!

This toy is a medium on the power level. I gave it 3 vroom. It is not the strongest of toys for the folks that need power, power, power... but it is not weak either. A beginner or mid level user would find pleasure in at least one of the settings.

There are 10 functions total that are controlled by a single push button at the base of the toy. The button is silicone and kind of a diamond shaped. It is also purple, very close to the color of the toy. It is easy to push the button on, it takes little effort. The button rotates through all the settings, and once you've reached the last setting, it starts again on the first setting. The only way to get the toy to stop is by holding the button down for 3 seconds.

I don't know what it is about functions, but I am a steady vibration kind-of-a-girl. On this toy I enjoyed the (2) medium steady vibration setting, the high was a little much for me. I would say it is in-between a 3-4 vroom.

The functions are of a wide variety. I think this is a perk of the toy. There are a lot of options! All of the settings but the first, low steady vibration are VERY loud and VERY buzzy. Like frightening the house animals loud. Like you better have your music blaring so the person in the next room can't here you loud. Yeah, to say the least, this toy gets a 5 on the beeeeeeeeeeeee level. (I think my ears are still ringing)

The Devotion is pretty easy to take care of. You can easily wash it with warm water and soap or any toy cleaner. Although the packaging says it is waterproof, I beg to differ. Because of this, just be more aware and careful when you are washing this toy.

About the toy being waterproof... ok so there is a seal around the screw on cap, which should mean it is safe. But I found the push button wasn't sealed on perfectly, so I was nervous about water leaking through that. I also wasn't overly impressed with the screw on cap security. I haven't submerged it, but I did run it under water for about 10 seconds and it had no problems, but I wouldn't take the risk and do anything more than that.

This toy is safe with both water and silicone lubricant options.

As for storing this toy, it is easy to store since it is straight and thin. I stored it back in the original clear plastic and in a makeup bag that has all of my other straight vibrators. They all fit so well in the makeup bag! The bag is then under the bed in a Rubbermaid storage bin!

The packaging is pretty much the same for all the Body and Soul line. It is a white rectangular box with lots of California Exotic logos, wording about the toy and a picture of the item on the front. The box is not discreet, it is pretty obvious what is going on in there. On all the Body and Soul boxes it also says, "Life, Love and Lust... Set aside time to embrace your body and soul" on the side of the box, which I like.

When you open the box you will find a decent instruction manual, the toy wrapped in a plastic bag, and also again in a bubble wrap. It was very secure, and a nice presentation. The box could easily be used for re-storage.

This toy is shockingly loud. You couldn't get away with pleasuring yourself with your partner sleeping at your side. He/she would jump out of bed, thinking it was his/her alarm clock. That was my least favorite part about the toy. Oh, wait, that and the fact it is only a 7/10 safety material. I would have liked a bit higher. Beyond those two gripes, this toy is great. I love the design, the width, and although I don't insert the entire length (too much for me) the size.

I like this toy both on the inside and out. My favorite setting is the (2) vibration and with that setting this toy made me feel great all over. With that, this toy made my body devoted, but as for my soul.. I think my soul longs for other toys first.
