Original and Heavy Set Compared

The Emigi Heavy set was SinFive's alternative to the original. There are a few improvements, but more let-downs. With different materials, and different inner weights, the alternative heavy set just doesn't make sense. They're not completely horrible because the shape and size is really great, and the heavier one is nice and weighty, but they just didn't fit my needs or make me happy. While I don't love them like I thought I would, this unique set could be a winner for some.

Pros
Great shape, easy to use, different weights, easy to care for.

Use

The Emigi heavy set is SinFive's alternate version of the original Emigi. It's a set of two; one light, and one heavy. They're the same shape as the original, but with a few differences. We'll get to that later in the review.

The Emigis are designed for arousal, and most of all, Kegel exercises. Kegel exercises are also known as pelvic floor exercises. Kegel exercises consist of repeatedly contracting the pelvic floor muscles; it's the same as any other weight lifting, except it's in your vagina! Kegel exercising can help prevent urinary incontinence, as well as the prolapse of the pelvic organs. One of the best benefits of Kegel exercises is the sexual function. Using them can create arousal while you're wearing them, but it can also help you achieve better orgasms through long term use. They can also help you feel tighter to your partner. They can be worn for a matter of minutes or hours.

These are meant to be inserted vaginally. When you move about, the motion causes the inner balls to move, creating a vibrating sensation that stimulates the vaginal muscles. While they're in there, you have to squeeze those muscles to prevent them from falling out. Some people might not have any trouble keeping them in, but the high amount of rumble to the beads will surely remind you to start squeezing. There's a cord on this set, which helps you take them out easily. Even though these have a very long cord, they should not be inserted anally, as they can easily get lost!

In the fifties, Dr. Kegel reported that the women doing his exercises were orgasming more frequently, intensely, and more easily! Imagine if they were using weights like the ones we have today!

Material / Texture

The Emigis are both made of Elastomer, a polymer with elasticity. It's latex-free, phthalates-free, skin safe, and hypo-allergenic. It rates a 7/10 on the safety scale. Unlike silicone, elastomer has some porosity. It can't be disinfected with boiling water and the Emigis shouldn't be shared.
They're fairly firm, but very smooth. They create little drag, but there is some. Lubricant may be needed to insert them. While elastomer is known to be multi-lube compatible, it says on the box that only water-based lube should be used with this set. The retrieval cord is pliable and is able to stretch.

This is where one of the differences lie with the original Emigi from the heavy set. The original is made of WTP, which is a safer material and is a solid 8/10 on the safety scale. This is unfortunate, since WTP is non-porous and elastomer has some porosity. So, this is not an improvement from Sinfive.

This set is completely tasteless and odorless.

Design / Shape / Size

I initially liked the design of the Emigi set. It's a unique shape that is different than most other Kegel exerciser. Most users compared them to a mouse, while I thought it looked similar to a pill. Both have three seams, but it's nothing to worry about with cleaning. They're a good size. Just in between the larger sets, like Smartballs, and smaller sets like the mini Luna Beads. The size of the Emigis could please any user, and especially a beginner, because they can start small and work their way up. The weight is another story.

Both the red and black Emigi
Exerciser Length: 2 1/2 inches
Retrieval Cord Length: 3 7/8 inches
Entire Length: 6 1/5 inches
Widest Circumference: 4 inches
Smallest Circumference: 3 1/4 inches

Red Emigi(light)
72 grams/2.5 ounces
Black Emigi(heavy)
92 grams/3.2 ounces

Another difference from the original Emigi to the heavy set is that the original is listed as 3.4 ounces on the site. That is .2 ounces more weight than the heavy Emigi of this set. Unusual.
While the red exerciser and the original set have loose inner beads that create a rumble with movement, the black one has a fixed weight, so there is no rumble. The red one is extremely quiet and muffled. They're made so thick that the rumble is completely lost through the material. Sound is not an issue.

While they're not a realistic type sex toy, I'd call them somewhat discreet.

Performance

Each Emigi is very simple to insert, and they're very comfortable. I found them even easier to put in than the Luna Beads and Smartballs because of their shape. They slide in smoothly, rather than popping two separate beads in. The come out just as smoothly as they go in. While the retrieval cord may be too long for some, I found the length perfect. I didn't have any trouble trying to grasp the cord like I do with other sets. If you find it too long, it can easily be snipped with a pair of shears.

As far as the performance goes, I was not at all impressed with these. I consider myself an advanced user, and this is my ninth set. I had my eye on the Emigi original, so I was pleased when I saw that a heavy set was available. Not having any trouble keeping any Kegel exerciser in, I completely rely on the rumble for that reminder to flex. Discovering the heavyweight, the one that was important to me, had a fixed weight that created no movement was an extreme let-down.

I gave the lighter one a chance first. Throughout an 8 hour use, I never felt the rumble of the inner beads once. The only time I remembered it was there was when I had to pee, and that is only because I noticed the string hanging there. I moved on to the black one and found the same thing. I had forgotten about it during my day. However, since the black one is fairly weighty, bearing down and flexing created a good exercise.

Care and Maintenance

This set is very easy to care for. There are not multiple pieces or any nooks and crannies, so they're easy to clean. These can't be disinfected; so no boiling. Cleaning can be achieved with a mild soap and water or a toy cleaner. I rinse them, saturate with my favorite California Exotics toy cleaner, let them soak for about 30 seconds, rinse and pat dry. They don't collect hair, dust or lint too easily, so as long as they're stored properly, the don't need to be rinsed.

It comes in a cute compact box, so they can easily be stored in that. It fits nicely on my shelf. The packaging has some transparency on it, so you can see them through the box. There's information written in English and German on it. There's also mention about where to insert them in your body in the instructions on the back, so I wouldn't call the packaging discreet. If I need to travel with them, I put them in a spare LELO pouch. Overall, they're a low maintenance toy.

Personal comments

The heavy Emigi is about 3/4 of an ounce heaver than the largest combo of the Luna Beads .2 ounces lighter than the Teneo Uno and and 1.6 ounces lighter than the Teneo Duo.

My grievances with this and the original are:
The heavy one is lighter than the original Emigi(if the weight on the page is correct).
They're made with lesser-quality materials.
The heaviest has a fixed wight while the others don't.

I think if the black one had a nice set of rumbly inner beads, I may had liked them much more. I would still recommend these, as not everyone needs that movement with their sets. These definitely could be great for a new user because they are versatile and they're easy to keep. They also could be awesome for people that found the Smartballs and classic Luna Beads too big. These are a great size. But, if you are like me, I'd stick with or go with the Luna Beads classic, mini or noir. I may still use these, because I like to switch my routine up. These aren't the worst balls I have, but they aren't close to the best.

Remember, to really see results with these, you have to keep up with it. It's important to incorporate it into your daily routine and stick to a regular program. I recommend using them for at least 30 minutes a day. I wear mine for about 8-10 hours, though.
Follow-up commentary
I really tried to like these being the kegel connoisseur that I am. I was really impressed with the weight of the black one but I had no trouble keeping it in. I wear my exercisers all day and I forgot I had these ones in every single time I wore them. I definitely prefer and recommend the Luna Beads because I need that rumble that the inner bead creates to act as a reminder. Just didn;t really dig these ones that much. Ended up giving the red one away and the black one is just collecting dust.

Aw man! I'm sad to hear these aren't the best of kegel balls. I have desperately wanted the mini Emigis to come back in stock! I bet they'll have similar features and the only difference will be that they're a smaller size. What a dang bummer! At least there's always the Luna Beads. Thanks for sharing.
