Pile on the fun

The Tenga is pretty cool. A nice storage case is included to dry it, to store it, and to prevent dust from getting on it. 5 different interior textures to choose from, and it is very stretchy. But the cleaning and preparation is harder than a Fleshlight, and I much prefer using a Fleshlight myself.

Use

The Tenga 3D is to be used as a masturbation sleeve. You are offered 5 different interior textures, in which I choose the Pile. This is the first time I have used a Tenga, and I have used two other Fleshlights and a random other masturbation sleeve. The random other didn't last long and has been tossed, where the Fleshlights gets used all of the time. After hearing great things about Tenga and the 3D, I decided to try it out and see what all the fuss was about. A main difference between the Tenga 3D and the Fleshlight is that the Tenga is meant to be used in your hand with no case around it, so you can vary the pressure that you apply to yourself. This seems great in theory.

Material / Texture

The Tenga 3D is made out of an elastomer, which is a food grade material, hypo-allergenic, latex and phthalates free, and it is porous. Even though Eden lists it as non-porous, I would not recommend sharing this with anyone else, unless you use a condom. Elastomer is not as safe as silicone, so it cannot be fully sterilized. You could use a condom, but I would think that a condom would break with the friction. Looking for further info on Tenga's website, they state that the toy is re-usable, but they give a timeline of life expectancy of about 50 uses. Given how stretchy the material is in use, and how sometimes it can get pretty thin at the head when thrusting deep, this would not surprise me. The material is nice to the touch.

Shape / Design / Size / Fit

The Pile has a bunch of triangles on the interior. They start out really close together at the base, then spread out and become larger towards the top. When you receive your Tenga, you are looking at all of the triangles. But this is the interior of the toy, which will need to be flipped around for use. Inserting myself into the Tenga was just slightly trickier due to the material compared to a Fleshlight, but not that difficult. The Tenga 3D fits nicely into the hand, and it is lightweight so thrusting away with it is not difficult. It is pretty small, standing only 4.5 inches tall, but due to the clear case, if someone stumbled upon it, they might be able to figure out what it is pretty quickly. And with the case as is, it is not good for travel due to the clear lid not having any seal to it. You could easily add some tape, but you would also have to bring more tape with you for the trip home. The Tenga 3D should be large enough for most users.

Care and Maintenance

For cleaning, you can use warm water and soap. When I first cleaned it, I did the outside real quick, then turned it inside out to clean the inside. Even though it is very stretchy, it is a little difficult for me to turn it inside out, even when it is dry before use. After soaping it up, rinse it off, then dry it off.

After the first time I used it, when I pulled it out the next time, there was a tiny bit of water still at the very top from where the support stand was resting against the toy. The second time I used it, I made sure to leave a little distance between the base and the top to try to make sure it was dry. And since you have to turn it inside out after storage for use, make sure you do this before the action starts. But even leaving a gap as it dries isn't totally fool-proof. While leaving a gap from drying after my most recent use, not even 5 minutes later it had shifted down, and not long after that it was totally resting against the base. I think the Tenga is more difficult to clean than a Fleshlight.
    • Easy to store
    • Hard to clean

Packaging

This comes in a very nice, reusable package. You have a black base with a clear top, and inside of the clear top is your new sleeve. It is turned inside out while on its pedestal, and after you cut three stickers from the base, you can remove the clear top. The sleeve is resting on its pedestal, and inside is a post to hold up the sleeve, with a piece of styrofoam inside of it for added support during shipping. But don't think that's all you have to do before use. There is also another black piece resting at the top of the sleeve that you have to remove before use. Or it is part of the post that supports the sleeve that separated. This was slightly trickier to remove once it had separated.

Personal comments

Overall, I am disappointed. It is an extra step to turn it inside out, and the drying base doesn't work well. Add in two uses, and a small amount of mold growing at the top, and I almost tossed this in the trash today. I semi enjoyed my session with it today, but I still prefer a Fleshlight. For the next masturbator I will try, I think I am going to go with a Spider.
Follow-up commentary
Since I wrote my review, I have not used this once, and I have had no desire to use it either. And its not just the slight mold that formed, it is that I think the Fleshlights are better, and they are also much easier to clean. While the idea of the stand being used for drying was a good attempt, the Tenga still slips down, then there is no airflow to dry the inside.
