Sweet Confessions - book discontinued by Cleis Press Inc. - review by wrmbreze

Looking through Eden's huge selection of books, I would would think it is very easy to pick one that may not work for you. It's a good thing that I am a member of the Naked Reader Book Club.I don't know who decides what books are chosen for the book club, but I am so very lucky to have read some of the ones they've chosen.


Sweet Confessions is an anthology of erotic fantasies for couples that is edited by Violet Blue and published by Cleis Press. The introduction was done by Violet Blue. My favorite quote from her introduction was, " If we want to get to the good stuff, we have to be vulnerable, even just for a second." The fantasies include spanking, exhibitionism, role-playing, three-ways and sensual adventures. Most of the tales involved straight couples for the most part, so if you're looking for a book with more lesbian or gay couples you may need to look at some of the other available books from Cleis Press. The anthology features 18 stories, so there is sure to be a few stories for everyone. The anthology is composed of stories from the following: an introduction from Violet Blue, Heidi Champa, Devyn Christopher, Kayar Silkenvoice, Portis Da Costa, Jacqueline Applebee, Sophie Mouette, Alison Tyler, Angela Caperton, K.D. Grace, Piper Morgan, Anika Ray, Kay Jaybee, Andrea Dale, Regina Kammer, Alexander Liboiron, Jeremy Edwards and Rachel Krammer Bussel. The book is 193 pages long and includes a page about the authors as well as a page about the editor.


I had several stories that I thoroughly enjoyed. I will summarize a few of my favorites for you.
Smell as Sweet by Heidi Champa gives you pleasure in the office. After discovering that a coworker has a "thing" for smelling worn women's panties, Liz takes matters into her own hands and leaves a little surprise of her own for Jaime. I found this one exciting because I would never have thought that anyone would enjoy a woman's smell enough to get off to it. In Internet Cafe au Lay by Kayar Silkenvoice a woman desires semipublic sex and does what she needs to so her boyfriend will agree. This is actually a fantasy of mine that I am not sure that I would be brave enough to try. The closest I have gotten to this is sex in a parking lot on a rainy day. Silver Screen by Portia Da Costa gives you an exotic encounter in an X-rated theater that may not be what it seems. This one was so appealing to me because I wish I lived near enough to an X-rated theater to try it. I am not sure that I could get the hubby to go along with it but it would definitely be worth a shot. The Contender by Jacqueline Applebee involves sexy time in the unlikeliest of places. Counterpane by Alison Tyler gives new meaning to eating out. It's a wonderful way to relax at lunchtime before back to work. This sounds like the best way to spend your lunch break, at least in my opinion. This collection of stories is housed in a very sturdy trade paperback, that seems very capable of surviving many nights of reading, again and again. For those that may be unfamiliar with the term trade paperback it is approximately 5 1/2" by 8" inches.

While reading Sweet Confessions, I became so overheated that I had to step away from the book several times. I couldn't, however, stay away. Many of these stories are easy enough for you to try with your special someone. One thing that I enjoyed immensely about this book was that it brought several of my own fantasies to mind.

I thought that I would share some of these stories with my husband while we were snuggling close in bed. This was exciting all by itself. Some of the stories that weren't mind blowing when I read them alone, were so much more exciting when whispered to him in the dark. Exciting sex plus quality time with my loved one makes this book one I will treasure for playtimes to come.

I have continued to enjoy reading this collection of stories. I enjoyed this set so much that the last few books I have purchased have been from Cleis Press. The people there definitely know what they are doing.
