Massage balm by Intimate Organics - review by Alicia

There's nothing better than feeling my husband's warm hands caressing my body with a nice, deep massage. This is especially true if under his hands are Intimate Organics Massage Balm. I've read the reviews, I knew the hype, so I was wondering, could it live up to my expectations? Yes it can, or maybe that should be "mmm, yes!" it can! I am in love with this stuff, and honestly I shouldn't even have doubted Intimate Organics for a second, every product of theirs that I have tried I have absolutely fallen in love with. I'm actually already planning on ordering a second jar of this massage balm because I am so addicted to it I don't want to fathom every running out. The jar is 5 oz though, and you don't need very much at a time, so it will last quite a while.

So, you might be wondering what it is about Intimate Organics Massage Balm that makes it so awesome. Well first off, I'm loving that it's a balm and that it's not exactly an oil. The feel is a bit like a mix of an oil and a lotion, closer to oil but not quite as greasy feeling. It's a semi solid in the tub, and the tub has a nice wide mouth, so it's easy to just reach in and scoop out what you need. It's different from what is shown on Eden currently, this must be a new design of container. There is just the slightest bit of a gritty feel to it when it first comes out of the tub, but that goes away once it's warmed up in your hand. The other beautiful thing about this product is that it does not start off as cool as a lotion does. You can take this directly from jar to skin and you won't feel that initial shock of coolness on the skin. It just instantly warms to the body and it's just in a word, amazing.

So now that we've talked about the feel of this balm on the skin, let's talk scent and ingredients. First off, the scent that I got is the Fresh Orange and Wild Ginger, which is the Energizing scent. All of the Intimate Organics Spa Products have three scents: Energizing, Sensual (Cocoa Bean and Goji Berry), and Relaxing (Lemongrass and Coconut). Depending on the product the smell of these can vary a bit. That's just the beauty of the organic ingredients that they use. Their products are all a blend of natural moisturizers and some of those have scents of their own as well. Parfum is then added to give the scent for that particular one. For example, mine is the Fresh Orange and Wild Ginger but it also contains coconut oil, Goji berry extract, Lemon Grass extract, Sweet Almond Oil, and Shea Butter among other oils and butters. So, it has quite an eclectic base. The Energizing Massage Balm smells like fresh oranges, but not in an overwhelmingly fruity or citrus-y way. This is more like just a light subtle orange scent. I feel as if I am laying blissfully in an orange grove when I smell this balm. The ginger scent is pretty muted in the balm, though in my Body Souffle of the same scent the ginger is far more prominent. The make up of the balm allows the orange to shine more. The extracts in the Intimate Organics Massage Balm are USDA Certified Organic. This balm is also Paraben free, DEA free, and vegan. This is definitely a product that you can feel good about using on your skin.

We found out the first time we used this massage balm that sometimes less is more and that there is indeed sometimes too much of a good thing. I'm always the type of person who asks for more when it comes to lotions. Whether it be a foot massage, a back massage, a hand massage, you name it I need more. So, naturally the first time my husband gave me a back massage with this he used a lot. I can't say exactly how much because well, I was laying down with my head on a pillow (ahhh relaxation!) but he said he didn't use anymore than he normally would use of a lotion or an oil. But, it just would not fully rub in. I have skin that sucks in lotions and oils too, so that's really saying something. He gave me probably a 15 minute massage and said it was not sinking in. I of course said "oh just keep going, eventually it'll rub in.." *snicker* figuring I could get another 20 minutes or so out of him! Unfortunately his hands start to tire after a while and so while he did continue on for another 5 minutes he eventually said "no really, it's not sinking in, I'm getting a towel..". Bummer! So, we had to wipe off the excess that time and since then he's used a lesser amount and then added more to it as needed. This allows it to rub in nicely after about 10-15 minutes. Of course if you're blessed with a partner who loves to give long massages, just know that a bit more can be used for that and you'll be good to go.

If you don't have a partner or someone to give massages to, you can also use this massage balm as a moisturizer. I'd really only recommend it as a full body moisturizer if you have dry skin, otherwise I'd recommend it mainly for areas like knees, elbows and ankles that can use a little extra TLC. It also is great after a hot shower when your skin is sometimes in need of replenishing some moisture. I find that it leaves my skin feeling soothingly soft and I have never felt need to, nor wanted to, wash it off after use. My husband did not feel the need to wash it off, but as usual he wasn't to keen on the feel of it, and prefers to use it on me rather than having me use it on him. He is not one for massage oils in general though, and likes something that leaves nothing on the skin.
