Cool as a Cucumber

Venus Aromatic Mist in Cucumber Melon has a light scent that would be perfect for those who are sensitive to smells, or just looking to add a slight hint of freshness. If you prefer a more noticeable scent, you will need to use a lot of this product.
Pleasant fresh smell, unlike some cucumber melon products it actually smells like cucumber.
Several pumps needed to create noticeable scent, doesn't contain Dead Sea minerals as label claims.

Venus aromatic mist can be used as a body spray, an air freshener, or to scent your sheets. I received Cucumber Melon, but it is available in a wide variety of scents, including some unique options like Milk, Juniper, and Man. Venus makes several other body products with the same scents so you can layer them together, which might intensify the scent.

Ingredients: Aqua (de-ionized water), propylene glycol, alcohol, fragrance, DMDM hyndantoin, may contain FD&C yellow #6, FD&C red #33, FD&C Blue #1

According to the label, this is "A Natural Dead Sea Product," but this product is made with de-ionized water (which has had all minerals removed) and does not contain any other natural ingredients to support this claim.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

When applied to the skin, it feels like a mist of water. The mist quickly dries thanks to the alcohol content. It doesn't feel greasy or sticky, and there is no detectable residue left behind.

In the bottle, the spray is yellow-green and cloudy.

Taste / Aroma

The mist has a very light, fresh, green scent. There are no artificial or chemical tones, and it smells like cucumber with a hint of melon. Most of the cucumber melon products I've smelled in the past were fairly sweet and smelled more like melon than cucumber. With this product, cucumber is the predominant scent and there is very little sweetness.

The scent is much less powerful than most body sprays or air fresheners. If you enjoy stronger, more obvious scents you're going to have to use a lot of this product, and you still might not achieve the results you're looking for. If you are very sensitive to smells, this may be a good choice for you and most likely won't cause headaches or allergies.

As someone who doesn't like strong scents, I found 5 spritzes on my sheets was enough to add a subtle scent when walking into the room, and a slightly more noticeable aroma while in bed. It was still slightly noticeable when I came home the second day, but by the third day it was basically undetectable, and would need to be reapplied.

With most body mists (for example, Calgon) I would apply just one pump. With this mist, I used 5 pumps and the smell was still subtle and definitely not overwhelming. It would not be noticed by other people unless they were very close to you. The scent does weaken throughout the day, and since it starts off so light, it may almost disappear by the end of the day.

The packaging is a 4 oz. clear plastic pump-top spray bottle. It comes with a lid that snaps on pretty securely to help prevent the pump from being accidentally activated. It did not leak while being shipped to me, but came wrapped in a plastic bag for extra protection. You could probably take this traveling, but I would suggest taking the same precaution and putting it in a plastic bag. The tube inside the bottle extends all the way to the bottom, so you don't have to worry about wasting any of the product.

The label is printed on a sticker. It has some pictures of cucumbers and melons on the front, along with the name of the product. The back includes the ingredient list and website. It warns that the mist is for external use only and should be kept away from children. The product is not tested on animals and is made in the USA.

I find the label a bit dated and unprofessional looking, and would most likely not give this product as a gift because of that.
Follow-up commentary
The smell of this is just too subtle for me and I don't even like strong scents. It's barely detectable, which is not what I'm looking for in a body spray. It is ok for me as an air freshener, to add a very slight scent to my room, but I'm really not an air freshener person and never use any. I think most people who do use air fresher will want a more noticeable scent. I'm sure there is a small segment of people who will enjoy having a very gentle scent, but think most people will be disappointed.
