(Cucumber Melon) Good for Massage - Better for Moisturizing

This is a nice light moisturizing lotion that won't interfere with other fruity/airy scents if you wear fragrances along those lines. There is no chemical "after smell" to it.

I know it seems expensive for the price, but Eden has sales so often where you can get 20% or more off, that I would definitely keep this on my wishlist and buy it on sale if I didn't want to pay full price.

How much do I like it? Well, I've added the other 2 scents to my wishlist.

Use

According to Cal Exotics, this lotion is designed to be used for massages. It has been enhanced with "pheremones" for greater sex appeal and is supposed to leave your skin feeling "soft, supple, refreshed and sensually scented". May I state that three out of four isn't bad when it comes to those last claims?

The ingredients are: deionized water, safflower oil, stearic acid, glycerin stearate (and) PEG-100 stearate, shea butter, stearyl alcohol, carbomer, triethanolamine, d-L panthenol, allantion, methylparaben, propylparaben, diazolidiyl urea, disodium EDTA, fragrance, and osomopherones.

Unfortunately, although I checked for osomopherones both on wikipedia and by googling it on the internet, I could not get a definition of what this is. I am assuming that it is the pheremones that are in the product however.

Because of this, I highly recommend that you test this on a small patch of skin before using it for either a massage or moisturizing a large portion of your body.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This product has a soft, smooth and creamy texture when you apply it. It feels so cool when it first touches the skin that I love it and want to keep reapplying it, even though it isn't necessary.

This is thinner than many lotions but obviously thicker than a massage oil would be. It spreads out very well and is easy to rub into the skin and be absorbed.

I honestly love the way that this feels on my skin and I am keeping it on my desk to use as a moisturizer. Unlike some other products that have alcohol in them, (which this does have too), when I use this, my palms don't get that dried out "just been sanitized by an alcohol wipe" feeling to them.

Taste / Aroma

One of the many reasons I like this product is the aroma. It is a very light and airy scent. For those who have experienced the "Cucumber Melon" scent from the "Naturals" line by Avon, this will be a familiar scent to you. It has that same light, not-quite-sweet but comfortable aroma to it.

As you open the flip-top and squeeze out the lotion, the aroma doesn't quite "fill the air", but it is noticeable. As a few moments go by, the scent dies down by does not go away. However, it changes from a fairly bold "cucumber melon" scent to something that just seems sweet and natural when you smell it again later.

What excites me the most about this product is that even after applying it - there is no after-scent of chemicals. It is simply a fresh and airy scent that makes me want to smell it again and again.

Performance

My husband and I really don't get into massages that much but I got this product because I wanted a lightly scented product that I could keep on my desk for whenever I needed to moisturize my hands. I wanted something that would be light enough to not interfere with the other scents I use too. Since the majority of my perfumes are fruity, this adds a slightly different feeling to the scents - a good feeling. It's like it rounds out the normal lemon (and now mangosteen) scents that I like to wear based on my mood that morning when I got up. You see, I layer scents by using the body scrub, cleanser, body butter and perfumes in various scents and when I get up in the morning, I base my choice on my mood that day.

So when it comes to fragrance - this performed perfectly for it meshed with my other products.

When it came to moisturizing, it did an awesome job also. I found that it left my hands and elbows feeling smooth and soft. As I stated earlier, when I put this on my body, it feels very cool to the touch and that makes me feel refreshed.

Packaging

One of the things that attracted me to this product was the packaging. While there is only 4 ounces of product in this, it should last a fairly long amount of time. It is so easy to just flip the top open and get some out and let's face it - with purple as my favorite color - how could I refuse it with this cover?

Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is I picked it because the container looked like it would be easy to use and it wouldn't take up a large amount of space on my desk.

Here are some photos of the body so you can see what it looks like and how big it is compared to a 20 ounce bottle of water.

Although the cover looks blue - it is a very pretty purple.

Since the package states very clearly on the front in bold black letters, Formulated with pheremnones - enhance sex appeal and then also says Massage Lotion with Pheremones in a yellow strip underneath that - I would not consider this to be packaged discreetly. Since I am using this on my desk at home, that isn't an issue - however - if you wanted to keep this at work, I would put it inside a drawer.

Personal comments

I want to take a moment to address the topic of pheremones. I have yet to find a study or any information that can confirm that they really do work. If they really did work, wouldn't the FDA be getting involved and regulating them as some sort of a drug?

I have no problem believing they exist, my problem is in believing that they can be as effective as many companies claim they are.

With that said, let's face it - fragrances have been around for thousands of years and there is something about fragrances that can bring out good feelings about us, our body, our partner, etc. I find the smell of almond to be highly "sexual" and I have no idea why. Musky scents however, definitely turn me off. Why is that?

I figured that if scents could affect the way we feel, then perhaps there could be something to the idea of adding pheremones to products. In order to learn more about pheremones, I went to wikipedia to look them up. I really feel like the sentence that they end their discussion on pheremones and humans is probably the most appropriate way to end this section. They state:

The role of pheromones in human behavior remains speculative and controversial.

I'm going to end my thoughts on pheremones with that statement because it is so appropriate.

With that said, I do love the scent of this product.

Hehe yet another great review! Oh all mighty Queen bath-o-holic.

The scent you describe sounds really nice! I don't think I would personally use this for massaging though. I've never been a big "lotion" fan myself. Only recently body butters and souffle's have been enjoyable. Glad you are having a lot of luck with your products lately
