Pheromones lotion - lotion discontinued by Cal Exotics - review by KrissyNovacaine

So, I am a fiber and ceramics artist. Both hobbies are hell on my hands, and I am always looking for lotions and creams to help nourish my skin. This was an experiment in trying a massage lotion instead of a hand lotion for relief.

This is intended to be used in massage. It is fairly gender neutral in scent, although the cucumber melon flavor is a bit feminine in my opinion. The other scents may be more gender neutral, but I haven't tried them.

As a lotion, this is one of the best that I have found that isn't an intense, time consuming process to take care of my skin. As a massage lotion it absorbs a bit fast into the skin and isn't as useful.

This is a little thinner than a normal lotion in consistency but much thicker than a massage oil. It does pour very easily out of the bottle, and you can easily end up with more than you intended to if you aren't careful. It is a little runny when you first pour it out of the bottle, but once you start to rub it in, it stays where you put it.

It is very slick in consistency and feels a little greasy like sunscreen when you first start rubbing it in. It's not my favorite feeling in the world, but it quickly fades into softness as it absorbs.

This is super strong when it comes to scent. I am fairly sensitive to scents and I have a hard time wearing this. I can only use a little bit at a time otherwise I end up with a migraine. I purchased the cucumber melon scent because it is one of my favorites for lotion. I found it to be a bit generic and cheap smelling of cucumber melon. There are some great products out there that are cucumber melon and have a lot of complexity to them, but this is not one of them.

Because this product isn't intended for consumption, I didn't try tasting it.

This product includes parabens and other chemicals which may cause allergic reactions to some people.

This product isn't the most useful product for massages, but it does make a good conditioning lotion. It dries/absorbs too fast for me to use during massage, but it makes my skin really smooth and soft when just used as a lotion.

It does have a very strong scent, so I would not recommend this for those that are sensitive to strong smells.

This was shipped in a small plastic bag so that any spills would be contained. It is in a small bottle with a flip top that is easy to open one handed which is useful if you do end up using this for massages. The label states that is is formulated with pheromones to enhance sex appeal on the front, so I wouldn't call this the most discreet product on the planet unless you remove the label.

So far the container has held up well, nor do I have any concerns about it either. It feels substantial enough to last as long as I still have lotion.

This is labeled as a pheromone enhanced lotion. There is a lot of debate over pheromones. I personally think that they exist and can work depending on your chemistry and the person who is smelling it. So it isn't as effective as manufacturers would like you to believe in my opinion, but it does work sometimes.

That being said, I tested this out in my own mini, not very scientific way. I used this product after a long day working on ceramics in the summer heat. I was mussy and grubby and not at all especially sexy. Both times I used it, one of my partners became very interested in me. His increased interest was pretty clear. The other partner had no change in his behavior. Because I like the effect of this, I have no rush to explain the experiment and possible change my results.

Mileage may vary on this effect, so no promises on this.

Ingredients: deionized water, safflower oil, stearic acid, glycerin stearate (and) PEG-100 stearate, shea butter, stearyl alcohol, carbomer, triethanolamine, d-L panthenol, allantion, methylparaben, propylparaben, diazolidiyl urea, disodium EDTA, fragrance, and osomopherones.

As you can tell there are a lot of chemicals in this product including parabens that may be allergy concerns for some. I have a lot of sensitivities, but this did not irritate my skin at all. It does however irritate my nose, and can cause headaches if I use too much.

I was skeptical about this being effective as a pheromone product as I have about a 30% success rate with those items in general. I figured the best way to test this out was to use this when I am not at my most desirable to my partners and gauge their reactions. One of my partners had a noticeable increase of interest in my while the other one had not particular change.

As a massage lotion, this is basically useless because it absorbs into the skin too fast, but as a regular hand lotion I love it. Except for the headaches if I use too much.

Overall I will probably use what I have, but I don't think I will rush out to replace it unless they tone down the smell on this.
