It Will Do... For Now

The best use of the California Exotics Infrared Massager is the use that it is intended for, as a back/body massager. It feels wonderful on a sore back, on legs, shoulders or wherever else you would like to use this. I have perverted this and the best of the five attachments is the one point massager. It works alright as a sensual massager but it is not something I will regularly use as that. This is a good first massager and it would be good for anyone who is looking for a massager for legit massages and looking for infrared benefits.

The infrared massager is made out of plastic. The handle and the head including the portion that is infrared is made of a hard plastic with no give. On the neck there is a slightly flexible portion which allows the massager to float better across body surfaces. The majority of the attachments are made from a semi-squishy smooth plastic. There is a facial buffer attachment that is made from plastic excluding the buffer portion which is made out of firm, non-porous sponge material. There was no plasticky, gross smell to this when removed from the package. If anything it smelled slightly "new", if you know what I mean. (You may not know what I mean, there are times when I am the only one who gets myself.)

I do feel that this was designed fairly well with a few exceptions. Here come my complaints. Firstly, the damn thing is a little heavy. At one and a half pounds, after giving a massage with this for more than fifteen minutes your hand will start to really feel the weight. My boyfriend lifts weights and after about twenty minutes he could really tell how heavy it actually is. It is not unmanageable, but it does get tiring. My second complaint is that the opening (receptacle?) where the attachments attach to the massager on three of my attachments are too big. I couldn't even use one of the attachments because of this, it just kept falling off.

This is slightly over a foot long, which is nice because there is a nice large handle to hold onto. This is not too big to where it is hard to control, nor is it too small either. I feel that the length of the handle coupled with the flexible neck make this design ergonomic and very easy to use, despite its weight.

There are five attachments, four of them I love and the other I can not tell you about since I am unable to use it. Here is a list of the attachments:

1. The large bump attachment has one large point. This is the attachment that offers the most pin-point stimulation and the one I would use if I were to use this as a sensual massager.

2. The shiatsu massager has two bumps on it, which could be used around a sore muscle or on a localized problem are. This is the attachment that I was unable to use and I am truly disappointed. I feel I would have really liked this one.

3. The scalp massager is a flexible, thin, flat attachment with tons of small protrusions that provide a tickling sensation. I have had this used on me all over my body and I find it to be enjoyable.

4. The wide-nubbed attachment is thicker and has several larger nubs on it that provide a good massage. This is great for a full body massage.

5. The buffer, or lotion attachment is the one that has the sponge and is considerably smaller than the others. I wash my face, put my facial moisturizer on this and on low it does do a nice job for a facial massage.

There is a switch on the side of the handle of the massager. There are two settings, low vibration with high heat, and high vibration with low heat. Let me explain a bit about the infrared heat. The backside of the massager offers a large, bulbous, circular area that glows red when on. This is the infrared. It does take about fifteen to twenty minutes to get warm, which is a bit of a nuisance. When warm the infrared is wonderful for relaxing muscles, especially after you have been massaged with this for awhile. Infrared is used therapeutically to increase circulation to an area, reduce pain and promote healing. Infrared therapy is used on a multitude of ailments HEAT THERAPY. And besides, it does feel quite nice.

The vibrations are deep and powerful. The low is great for facial and scalp massages while either the high or low are great on the rest of the body. On some areas I did find the high vibration to be too intense, especially around my hips and near my shoulders. I do use the high setting for my clit though.

This toy is very easy to care for. It is powered via electricity. It has about a six foot cord, so unless you have an extension cord you will need to use it close to an outlet. My man and I use massage oil on one another and use this for massaging and it cleans up very well with a wet rag or towel, or with a toy wipe. The attachments themselves are waterproof and can be cleaned in the sink with soap and water. The facial attachment I clean and leave out to dry. This attachment is non-porous, so any lotions used on this will not absorb, they will be spread onto the surface you are applying them too. I was skeptical at first but I can vouch for the truth in this. I store mine by our bed, with the attachments in my toy box. It is plastic so you don't need to worry about this being a massive lint magnet. It is also discreet since it is a massager that could be sold at a walgreens/walmart without question, so I don't mind leaving this out.

The package was clear plastic with a cardboard insert that simply stated what the product was and displayed the product. I recycled this immediately, as I would never use this for storage. It would have been nice if this came in a box but for under forty bucks you do get a decent massager which makes up for the packaging. I would give this as a gift, but I would put it in a box first.

My man and I have been using this almost daily for massages on one another. We have done some sensual full body massages followed by some sex. This is the only time when I have used this in a perverted way. My man had attached the pin-point attachment and used this to stimulate my clit, which was a turn on and pleasurable. I have much better items than this to use solo, but for partner play it is fun. This feels absolutely wonderful for massages and I do highly enjoy this, though I do wish I could use all the attachments. This will do for now, but I would like to get a wahl and the hitachi magic wand for some more variety. This does make for some good quality intimate time together with a partner though.
