Organic lip balm by Evolution of Smooth - review by HannahPanda

Lip Lube

This lightly scented, organic balm is less likely to irritate your senses or the skin of your lips than a lot of products that include harsh chemicals and parabens. You'll get smoother lips that smell like a burst of fruit as a double deal with this balm and the funky packaging makes it fun to use on a daily basis. With 6 different flavors to choose from, you're bound to find at least one that you absolutely love.

EOS has produced 6 different choices, so it may be hard to pick which colorful sphere you'd love to glide over your lips. You can find these cute balm balls at just about any drug store, and lately, here at Edenfantasys! EOS is an all organic company that pitches a line of body safe, paraben free products that promise to make you oh-so smooth. These balms are ergonomic and easy to throw into a bag or purse on the go.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

EOS balm is really comfortable and not heavy on the lips when used. Rather than feeling like lip gloss that always winds up making my hair stick to my lips, the balm goes on lightly and smoothly with no sticky feeling at all. It's comparable to a buttery texture without being greasy or weighing down your lips. The ball is a solid dome and when pressed to your lips, a light layer of the balm glides onto your lips with minimal effort.

The balms are clear and have no hue to them at all, therefore, they can be worn on their own or on top of other colored lip products. I use lip gloss over the balm for extra moisture, and sometimes with lipsticks that tend to dry my lips out over time.

Ingredients: Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Beeswax (Cire D'abeille)*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Natural Flavor, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Stevia Rebaudiana Leaf/Stem Extract*, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract*, Fragaria Vesca (Strawberry) Fruit Extract*, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract*, Linalool. * Organic. Taste / Aroma

The best part about most of EOS products is that the scent is not overwhelming and is more hinting at a fragrance than throwing it into your nostrils. The balm I purchased was 'Summer Fruit' and it's a very subtle scent of strawberries, mango, and other tropical fruits. If you lick your lips, there's also a light taste that doesn't linger in your mouth and isn't overpowering. I enjoy both the taste and scent of this balm in particular. The Orange balm, however, is medicated and is the only balm that might not be the best for those seeking something less fragrant.

The ingredient list includes nothing that made me raise my eyebrow, and is free of harsh chemicals that are included in a lot of other products and balms. Nothing by EOS is tested on animals or contains parabens.

I find the formula lasts about 45 minutes on my lips before I need to reapply, and there's the most subtle hint of shine on my lips that isn't all that noticeable. If you have a kissing partner when wearing, they're liable to love the sweet, yet understated taste of the balm. Everything about wearing this for a long period of time is comfortable and unlike many other balms, I tend to forget it's there.

I've included a picture of what it looks like on bare lips:

    • Feels natural

The top lid screws onto the bottom portion quite easily and clicks closed when it's all the way on. An indent for your thumb can be found in the center and "EOS" is engraved into the top and bottom of the packaging. There's a flat portion on the bottom so that the balm can stand up instead of rolling over. The container stays closed when tossed around in a bag and I haven't had any problems with the top coming unscrewed. The packaging is minimal and could be considered even simpler than your standard stick of chapstick with the need to turn a dial to receive more product.

As adorable as I found the packaging and overall shape to be, there's a few things I started to notice about my balm within a couple months of use. If you throw it in your messy purse a lot, dirt can accumulate around the rim of the opening and all over the packaging. It isn't a huge bother, but it makes the outside look a bit dingier with a lot of wear. After just a few uses, the sphere of balm started to come up out of the container and I had to push it back down quite a few times. I haven't had this happen with others, so perhaps it was just a defect in the particular balm I had at that time. The overall shape isn't great for shoving down into a pocket if you don't carry a bag or purse around, so a tube of chapstick does prevail over this shape in that area. Overall, I much prefer the cute dome shape of these balms because they're fun and something different to try.

Personal comments

All EOS balms are never tested on animals, paraben free, gluten free, and free of any harsh chemicals.
Follow-up commentary
This stuff lasts a long time, even if you use it every day. It's my go-to balm when I want something without a ton of flavor and scent. Whether you're an organic fan or not, it's always nice to have something that isn't assaulting your lips with artificial sweeteners and isn't too overpowering. I've yet to use it all up, but I tag this as a repurchase for sure.
