The Great Massage Oil Showdown - DONA

We came to the conclusion that if you want a massage that feels richer and is more pampering and doesn't need to be massaged in as long, DONA is the best choice as it sinks in quickly. However, if you want a longer massage that is more sensual and sexy and feels perhaps a bit more oily and warming, the Kuma Sutra oil is the best choice.

Both products were five star products when it came to performance and scent.

Use

Sometimes I like to use oil on my body when I get out of the shower. A few years ago, I learned that if I patted my body very lightly dry and then put an oil-based product on it and rubbed it in a bit and then dried off, it trapped the water inside and did a better job of moisturizing my body. Since I was already in love with the DONA mangosteen scent and had most of the other products in this line, and Eden Fantasys does not currently carry the body butter, I decided to get this massage oil to use when I got out of the shower.

However, I also love the smell of sweet almonds and noticed that Kama Sutra had a petite bottle of aromatic sweet almond massage oil. Since I have a few almond scrubs that I have bought locally, I decided to add that to my stash of bath and body products.

My daughter loves massages and giving massages and when she saw them both, she suggested we do a "showdown" of the two massage oils. My back would be the testing ground and each oil would be used on 1/2 of my back at the same time.

While we limited our massage to my back for this test - when using this with a lover, you are limited only by your creativity as you have the whole torso to work with.

The ingredients are:
Glycerin, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Seed Extract, Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, Paullina Cupana Seed Extract , Ptychopetalum Olacoides Root Extract , Turnera Diffusa Leaf Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Pausinystalia Yohimbe Bark Extract, PPG-26 Buteth-26, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Garcinia Mangostana (Mangosteen) Fruit, Fragrance

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The DONA oil felt richer than the Kama Sutra oil. As my daughter stated, it felt like it had more oil in it - but not in a gross way.

Here are some pictures to show you the texture.

The Kama Sutra tries to run off even before I turn my arm sideways (I'm holding it flat here)

I believe some of the Kama Sutra actually made it to the floor because it ran so fast.

Taste / Aroma

I did not notice the smell of the mangosteen oil as my daughter used it on me. She stated that as soon as she started to rub it into my body, the scent went upwards and smelled wonderful. In fact, the more she massaged my back with this oil, the more she would comment on this scent. I think it became stronger the more she rubbed it into my back.

She states that "within seconds of spreading the mangosteen oil on your back, the oil warmed up and a strong smell of mangosteen rose up from my back and flooded the area."

She found it to be a sweet and fruity smell with the tiniest hint of a green melon like cantaloupe.

As my daughter went back to her computer just now and I was typing this up, she stated, "The mangosteen was almost like when you open the oven door to take out fresh bread and the bread aroma just hits the room and fills it. As the mangosteen warmed up in my hand and on your back, the aroma just rose up and filled the room."

Performance

This oil went into my skin fairly quickly and made it feel very soft and smooth. In comparing both oils, it felt like the Kama Sutra oil went partly into my skin but then stayed on my back so it could be massaged longer, while the DONA product went into my skin immediately. In order to massage the left side of my back longer (the DONA side), my daughter would have had to reapply the lotion. The only problem with this was that my back was already soft from the first application doing such a good job.

For both products, she used about an amount about the size of 1 1/2 quarters total spread out over 4 or 5 spots.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely

Packaging

You can see both bottles in the picture below.

Both bottles come with a flip-top cap which makes it easy to pour and use the product.

The DONA bottle is 4.7 ounces and the Kama Sutra is 4 ounces.

Experience

When my daughter used this on the left side of my body, we found that it went into the skin very quickly and moisturized my skin. It did not warm my skin like the Kama Sutra did. With that product, my back sort of "blushed" under the massage.

The Kama Sutra oil took longer to sink into my skin. If were were going for a long, sensual massage, that oil was better because it did not need to be reapplied. However, if she wanted to massage my back for a longer period of time with the DONA oil, she would need to reapply it in order to be able to massage my back, even though I didn't need any more moisturizer for the sake of my skin.

Of the two oils, we both felt like the DONA oil was a richer oil, almost more fatty, but not in a gross way. Richer is the best way to describe it.
