Toy lube - lubricant discontinued by Evolved Novelties - review by sexyscreenname

This lubricant is formulated and marketed for use with sex toys, so I would say the best use of this product is for toy owners to have some fun with their lubricated toys. It can function and be used as a normal sex lubricant, but given the wide range of lubes out there, I think it would best to focus on use of this lube with toys. As long as the toy is waterproof, any common material should not have any bad interactions. Always double-check safety and spot test before full use! Just to mention some of the materials it is safe with: silicone, ABS, TPR, latex, and more. For allergy concerns, the ingredients that come to mind would be the vegetable glycerin and the parabens; a detailed ingredients list is below.

-Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (used as a thickener, nontoxic and hypoallergenic)
-Propyl Paraben (used for its preservative and antifungal properties)
-Methyl Paraben (used for its preservative and antimicrobial properties)

The consistency is on the lighter spectrum for lubes. It is not super thin and slick, but for a water-based lube, it has got some constitution to it. It pours pretty easily, not super runny but not a slow mover either. The texture is smooth with some tacky resistance to it. It feels good, and once you start working with it, it stays in place. The sticky or greasy element of the lubrication is on par for a water-based lube, but not severe enough to mention as a criticism. Overall, I think the setup is great for toys. Not the best setup for skin-on-skin contact, but for sex toy play it is really enjoyable to use.

The lube itself is unfragranced/unscented, but it does carry an aroma. It is not a sweet smell like most lubes, but rather smells (for lack of a better adjective) concentrated. It doesn't really remind me of any other scent, but it does smell like other personal care products. I think the scent might come from the glycerin, but I cannot be sure. I think it would be nice if the strength of the scent was toned down, but the fact that it is mostly used with toys, which carry their own scents, makes this less of an issue.

In small concentrations, the lube doesn't really taste like anything. The physical effect of having lubricant in your mouth is more of a presence than the taste of the lube. I do not use this lube for oral sexual contact, so I hope you can forgive me for not drinking a glassful of this lube just for the sake of pinning down the taste for this review. But if I had to speculate, I would say it wouldn't taste good, but it wouldn't be significantly unpleasant either.

It is hard to measure the exact length of time the lube lasts for, but compared to the other water-based lubricants I have experience with, I would agree with the manufacturer's claim that it is "long-lasting". I cannot recall a time when I had to add extra lubricant after giving the initial few pumps to apply. It does eventually need to be re-activated with water/bodily fluids, but as stated before, it has some nice longevity to it. I use this lubricant on all my toys. I have the 4oz / 118ml size bottle, and it goes a long way. The value per volume is effective.

Cleanup has not been an issue for me. I would say that this lube cleans up like the average lubricant. I don't have to deal with sticky residue or serious scrubbing with lots of soap to remove it. Seems to clean up from skin and other surfaces equally well. No complaints when it comes to cleaning.

It comes from Eden in a tight plastic wrap, preventing any accidental leakage in transit. The only graphics on the bottle come from the matte-finish sticker that wraps around the bottle. There are no images on the bottle, just a logo and text. It is relatively discreet at a distance, and the contents are not apparent until someone reads the label and finds out that is a water-based lubricant. The label does say that it is "Toy Lube" and "Formulated Specifically For Toys", so if you don't want the implication that you own sex toys to be out in the open, don't let them read the label.

This bottle has a true pump instead of a flip top and is really awesome for measuring just the right amount of lube!
