Wet Gellee - lubricant discontinued by Wet Lubricants - review by chicagonative

One of my favorite Wet products by far. It smells good, it tastes good, it doesn't stain the sheets, it's easily accessible when your other hand is busy...

My body reacts quite nicely to this lube. Usually sex is fine the first time in a day, but if my boyfriend and I do it more than once, I'm typically pretty dry, even when my body wants it to be otherwise. This is our go-to lube for these situations.

It works great for anal sex too, because it adds a phenomenal scent to the air, and I don't have to be so self-conscious about the fact that his dick is in a place of bad odors. We use it first on the anus, and I'll prep myself with it (because anyone who can stand just shoving it in there is nuts in my book), and then we'll put a little on his penis for easier entrance. We never have any problems, and the pain is minimal. After that, I add a couple pea-size amounts to my Posh vibrator and I begin to clitorally stimulate myself as well. It's such a wonderful feeling being able to climax during something that is usually so uncomfortable for me. I truly believe Wet made a difference for us.

Since I am blessed with larger breasts (38D), my boyfriend just LOVES to have sex with them. I lay on my back and squeeze them around his penis, and he does the rest. Of course, this would be awfully uncomfortable without lube. Of all the lubes we've tried, this is the only one that doesn't leave me feeling disgusting afterwards. It's not sticky or oily or watery. It is water-based, but the viscosity of it is just enough that it stays put, and wipes cleanly off with just a towel.

This is also a great lube for blow-jobs, especially if he had on a condom at any point in the day. Latex is such a nasty flavor. This lube is gentle on the stomach, and it tastes wonderful, not to mention the terrific smell. I've had other flavored lubes before, but this one really takes the cake. It's not slimy or oily or too runny; it's just perfect.

In terms of ingredients, a brief review:

Glycerin - a colorless, odorless, viscous liquid.
PEG-32 - combined with Glycerin to act as a binding agent.
Tocopherol/Acetate - Vitamin E supplement.
Citric Acid - preservative and acidic flavoring.
Carbomer - bonding agent.
Flavor - we shall never know, this could be ANYTHING that is natural or synthetic and not required by the FDA to report (there's a laundry list if ever there was one).
PEG-40 Castor Oil - this ingredient is the reason for the warning labels "should any irritation occur, please stop using immediately and consult a physician," because this is a petroleum based chemical that MAY OR MAY NOT contain a certain carcinogenic contaminant.
Aloe Barbadensis - aka aloe vera, which in this case acts against the PEG-40 Castor Oil to help prevent irritation, and soothe any that might occur.
Leaf Juice - exactly what it sounds like.
Polysorbate20 - emulsifier.
Sodium Benzoate - preservative.
Tetrahydroxypropyl Ethylenediamine - sounds scarier than it is: another binding agent commonly found in lubes, spermicides, creams, makeup, etc.
Tetrasodium EDTA - a colorless, water-soluble solid.
Sucralose - non-caloric artificial sweetener.
PEG-45M - binder, emulsion stabilizer, also a concern for possibly containing a carcinogenic contaminant.
Sodium Citrate - technically, it's disodium citrate, which is a fancier version of citric acid.
Potassium Sorbate - preservative.
Propylene Glycol - a colorless, nearly odorless, clear, viscous liquid with a faintly sweet taste
Methylparaben - preservative.
Imidazolidinyl Carbamide - yet another preservative

Of the ingredients, Citric Acid, Flavor (duh), Sucralose, Sodium Citrate, and Propylene Glycol are what's giving you your flavors. Sucralose means sugar-free, so this is a very sweet artificial sweetener, like Splenda, rather than its less-sweet cousins saccharin (Sweet n' Low), aspartame (AminoSweet), or even sucrose (table sugar).

There's some questionable things in the ingredients list. I'm sure there's a reason for having a billion preservatives and a couple potentially dangerous ingredients...

I don't find the taste displeasing at all. Obviously it's an artificial flavoring, because putting real strawberry-kiwi juice in would be disastrous (fermentation and whatnot). The idea of castor oil may be off-putting to some, though.

Appearance-wise, I think the design of the tube is unique, and it stands out from other lubes. It comes as-is (at least mine did), so there's no boxes to throw away. Ingredients and instructions are printed plainly on the back.

Try it! You won't be disappointed! And sorry if I bored you all with a science lesson, I just think sometimes it's important to know what you're putting in your body or ingesting.
