Lets me focus on the moment!

After trying our first glycerin-free water-based lubricant, we're happy with the performance and lasting ability of ID Moments. It does not get gummy or need refreshing, and the ingredient list is recognizable and generally safe and acceptable for us. It allows us to focus on the sex without having to think about the lube or noticing anything unwanted.

Introduction:
In the past I have used several of the popular water-based lubricants, all with glycerin in them. I never noticed any health problems with them but now that I'm using toys more often I wanted to try a lubricant without glycerin and without parabens. After some research I settled on this one, and my partner and I have been satisfied so far.

Performance:
I was expecting this lubricant to get sticky and gummy, requiring refreshing with water during use, as I had experienced in the past with other lubricants. However it never got to that point, and I was soon able to ignore the lubricant and focus on the sex. That's the best complement I can think of! During vaginal use the lubricant has been long-lasting for us and we haven't noticed any drying. When I put some on my fingers and intentionally try to dry it, it takes a long time for it to dry. As it dries it gets slightly more viscous but never sticky. The film remains for a long time but is not objectionable. It refreshes easily with water or rinses away easily. Although we have not had any problems with the lube not being long-lasting enough, it obviously will not last long in a shower or other wet conditions and may also not be thick enough for anal use.

Odor/Taste:
The lubricant is mostly odorless during use. It has a very slight smell when smelling it directly, like a neutral vegetable oil or something similar, but not offensive. We did not taste the lubricant but understand from others that it may taste awful.

Ingredients:
I am familiar with many of the ingredients in the ingredient list and it makes me feel good about this product:

• Butylene glycol is a common gel used for lubrication, including in shaving gels and underarm deodorant gels. Likely derived from petroleum.

• The two cellulose derivatives, carboxymethylcellulose and hydroxyethylcellulose, are common thickeners typically derived from plant fibers, such as wood or cotton, which are used to thicken everything from milkshakes to pharmaceutical ingredients (they are also a common ingredient in tablets and extended-release drugs).

• Ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer is a synthetic long-chain polymer again used to thicken and lubricate and is likely derived from petroleum.

• PEG-45M, which is a version of polyethylene glycol, is similar to butylene glycol and is used in cosmetics, hand lotions, deodorants, and pharmaceuticals, including tablet coatings and laxative gelcaps that are ingested, so it is safe. Likely also derived from petroleum.

• Citric acid is used to pH balance the lube, which is a good thing since the vagina is naturally acidic and citric acid helps maintain the natural pH.

• Sodium benzoate is the only ingredient I'm less than happy about. It is generally considered safe and is used as a very common food preservative, including in carbonated beverages, however preservatives are always a necessary evil and it would be better if we didn't need them. But using a preservative is better than inadvertently using lubricant that's harboring germs or that has gone bad.

Packaging/Bottle:
The pump bottle is great and, although I didn't think I'd like the color at first, the pink bottle blends in with other bathroom products. The turn-to-lock pump head is a convenient feature, but I just wish it had a more conventional nozzle design that would be easier to aim or that would allow reaching more underneath the nozzle (like a conventional hand lotion or Purell bottle with a long-necked nozzle).
Experience
We have been using the lube during intercourse and on silicone toys for vaginal use. Even on toys that have a textured surface, we have not needed to reapply or refresh the lube and have not needed more than a few squirts of lube to cover an entire toy for the length of a session. We have not tried it for anal use yet.
Follow-up commentary
I still like this, and use it regularly for vaginal use during sex and on toys. Neither me nor my partner have had any adverse reactions, and it's long-lasting enough for us--most toys only require a small amount. However, we have not used it for extended anal sessions. I cannot say that I would recommend it for that, since I have no experience with it.

The only problem I've had is that the bottle deformed one time while I was using hot water to warm the lube. However, the water must have been too hot and it was entirely my fault.

A great product so far, and a great bottle and pump applicator!

Great review, I am only starting to really get into using lube as well so I can understand wanting to be careful of what ingredients are in them.
