Lace over satin bra and garter set - shelf bra, panty and garter belt set discontinued by Coquette - review by SMichelle

I'm on a bit of a garter belt kick. I just don't seem to be able to collect enough of them! That being said, yes... I purchased this set for the garter belt.

So far, I'd say this was a great buy.

What's Included:
This is a three piece set. It consists of the shelf bra, garter belt, and crotch-less g-string.

Material and Care:
This set is made primarily out of 100% polyester. I say primarily, as the trim is made out of other materials, though it does not state exactly what other materials have been used.

The set is made out of burgundy and black fabrics, with gorgeous red ribbon trim.

The shelf bras "cups" are solid, and lightly padded. The cups are not stretchy at all. The bra band, however, is very stretchy.

The garter belt is made primarily of black lace with ribbon accents. The garter belt is not very stretchy; with the exception of the adjustable band on the back of it (which has some stretch to it).

As for the matching g-string? Well, there's not a lot to it. The g-string features the same fabric as the shelf bra. The little bit of fabric on the g-string does not stretch. The straps, however, are very stretchy.

Overall, the material feels like it is very high quality. I imagine that it'll hold up well to the test of time, assuming that it is properly cared for.

It is recommended that you hand wash this item, and then hang it to dry.

Sizing:
Coquette has made this item available in three sizes; small, medium, and large. I ended up purchasing the medium.

A medium should fit someone with the following measurements:
Cup size: B
Bust: 36-38"
Waist: 26-30"
Hip: 38-40"

Personally, I wear a large C/small D cup, my waist is a 32", and my hips are 40".
I could tell by looking at the photos of this set that waist measurement was irrelevant. Also, being that this piece is essentially "cupless", cup size doesn't really matter.

All that said, this piece does fit me okay.
The shelf bra does fit a bit strangely, but it should be said that I'm not used to cupless bras. It doesn't look bad, and my breasts do technically fit; it just feels a bit strange.

The g-string is WAY too small on me, as I had expected it to be.

And the garter? The garter fits me nicely. The garter is adjustable, so it should fit a wide variety of sizes nicely.

I took the following measurements with the items laying flat.
Garter belt, laying open, on smallest adjustment: 32"
Garter belt, laying open, on largest adjustment, 35" (unstretched), 40" (stretched)
Garter straps (shortest length): 11" (from top of garter belt)
Garter straps (longest length): 14" (from top of garter belt)

G-string, waist, unstretched: 15"
G-string, waist, stretched: 21"

Bra band, unstretched: 26"
Bra brand, stretched: 36"

Reminder: All measurements are taken with the piece laying flat.

Design:
Lets start with the shelf bra.
The shelf bra is not going to contain your breasts; rather, your breasts are going to sort of sit on top of the cups. This means that your breasts will be almost completely exposed. That said, you will still get support from the light padding that this bra has to offer, and of course from the underwire.

The bra closes with your basic hook and eye closures. There are three possible closure options, so you can choose the setting that's right for you. The straps of the bra are also adjustable (but they are not removable).

The cups are burgundy fabric, covered in a beautiful black lace. There are two jewel buttons between the cups. Overall, the bra is absolutely gorgeous.


Now, we have the garter belt. The garter belt is my favorite part of this set. The garter belt is a bit thin, and is meant to sit around your hips. It's made almost completely of a lace fabric, with red ribbon weaved through it.

The center of the garter belt features a red bow with a jewel in the center. The bow is not meant to be removable.

The garter belt is adjustable by a little strap in the back. The strap is much like the straps to the bra, at least in the way that you go about adjusting it.
To close the garter belt, there is a little hook that latches onto a loop of fabric. There is only one closure setting, but as I said, the belt is still adjustable.

My one problem with the garter belt is that the straps might be a bit too long for most people. The straps are adjustable to a point, but even at the shortest possible length, the straps are going to be a bit long.

The actual garter clips are of high quality.

Now, my least favorite part of this set... the g-string.

The g-string is essentially a little square of fabric, with straps coming off of it. The g-string is, of course, designed to be crotchless. The idea is good, but the execution was bad. I don't see the g-string fitting many people at all.

Packaging:
The packaging for this item was fairly simple. All three items arrived hanging on one plastic hanger. The plastic hanger, and the items, were then wrapped in a plastic bag. There is a hang-tag on the shelf-bra that features a photograph of a model wearing the set.

Quality:
The quality for this set was pretty good.
There were a few loose threads, but other than that, no real problems.

I do worry that the little jewels will fall off over time, but as that hasn't happened yet, I can't complain.

This set is incredibly sexy, but it's not one of my favorites. I don't pull it out too often, simply because I have other garter sets that I prefer. Still, my boyfriend is always impressed by this one.

I do feel like the garters are a little long for me, but the bra makes me feel amazing whenever I wear it.

Quality wise, it's held up well, but I have noticed more and more loose threads over time. The loose threads aren't a huge deal, as they're easy to snip off, but that's something that's worth noting.
